Hey! This is my first Tokka oneshot and will be my last, as I wrote it for a forum Secret Santa! Hope you enjoy it! Review!

Summary

A heartfelt moment between Sokka and Toph taking place after DoBS.

"Sokka?"

Toph knelt down beside Sokka, who was staring at the smoking Fire Nation palace that they had just fled. They were all on Appa; Toph, Sokka, Katara, Haru, Teo, Aang and The Duke were all sitting miserably on Appa's new armour. However Sokka, unlike the others, hadn't spoken a word. Katara had gotten to work healing wounds and avoiding Aang (who was steering) at all costs, to everyone's confusion. At hearing Toph's voice Sokka looked up as if woken from a trance and looked at Toph.

"Hi, Toph. You alright?"

"I'm fine, are YOU alright?"

Sokka turned and faced the others, all of which were talking to each other quietly and were not paying any attention to him, except for Teo who was gazing at the back of Toph's head.

"I guess so."

"You miss Suki, huh?"

Hearing about Suki's imprisonment surprised Toph also. She knew she was a capable warrior, but Azula proved she was more than dangerous to even the most skilled bender.

'Not even Twinkle Toes could get near her', Toph thought. 'Oh don't get me wrong, I like Suki, just not with him'. She couldn't't even imagine Sokka and Suki kissing, as she knew they had done at the Serpent's Pass, because she didn't even know what they looked like. And imagine her humiliation at practically revealing her feelings about Sokka to the very girl who posed as a threat:

"Oh Sokka, you saved me!" Toph cried, kissing Suki on the cheek, to her embarrassment.

"Uh, Toph, it's me." she said. Toph felt like she was hurtling into a black hole of humiliation. She laughed to cover her hurt.

"Oh, uh, right...you can go ahead and let me drown now."

For that was exactly how she had felt. Toph had had feelings for Sokka for a while now. She admired his bravery, even though he wasn't a bender, he was a skilled fighter. Toph loved that.

She loved him.

At her question, Sokka looked at her confusedly, sadness in his eyes. He didn't answer the question, and sighed. Feeling resentment for Suki in every pore of her body, Toph slowly moved forward and wrapped her arms around Sokka's shoulders, embracing him in what she hoped would be a comforting hug. It took a while for Sokka to respond and put his hands on her back, feeling love and care emanating from every inch of Toph that he could feel. It had been a while since he had felt that. Since he had last seen Suki, in fact. They sat there, hugging for a long moment before Toph sat back, blushing like mad. Sokka saw this, and blushed himself. Could it be...? 'No, Sokka thought, she couldn't't like ME. What have I ever done to deserve her love? I lost Yue...and now Suki. I'm nothing but dangerous.

He was just about to voice his thoughts when he realised that Toph was a little closer than she had been before. Closer and closer she came, until their faces were inches apart. Something familiar seemed to bloom in Sokka's heart as he began to see Toph in a new light. Looking at her with love, Sokka closed the gap and kissed her. Almost pulling away in shock, happiness burst inside Toph with a magnitude that she had never felt before. She pushed their lips together, the kiss lasting another few seconds before Sokka pulled away. Disappointed, Toph refused the idea that that was it, and she kissed him again, throwing her arms around him so he couldn't't pull away. Not surprised in the least, Sokka kissed her urgently, his arms around her waist.

Hours later, Sokka and Toph had been together since that kiss. Sitting behind everyone else, Sokka's arm sneaked around Toph's shoulder as she snuggled up to him. She had been determined to keep her feelings to herself, but that seemed impossible and stupid now, as Sokka clearly felt the same. Sokka smiled down at her, amazed at his new feelings for the young earthbender. Feeling her own feelings well up inside her, Toph let them out with a heavy sigh. Sokka looked at her lovingly and lifted her face to his own. Just before their lips met Aang jumped up from Appa's head and projected to the group:

"Guys! We're here. The Western Air Temple."
