Chapter 8) Another peculiar day Part 1

Time unsure New York Unlikely Pair Pool July 8th

B Pov

Puppies, ponies, kitties, rainbows, Edward, water…splash. Shit. How the hell did I end up in the pool? I groaned as I slowly and groggily resurfaced from the ice cold water. I did not want to take an early shower this is not cool. And I new who to blame too…Edward was going down. I swam towards the pool’s edge lifted myself up, shook off the water from my hair and went inside.

I was going to find Edward and extract my revenge he was going to pay. I stormed into the living room where everyone was all staring at the TV because who was there Chase. First this is going to be shown on national television and now Chase and it didn’t help that the camisole I had worn to bed was white and see through. Chase looked at me in curiosity or was it because he could see everything through my shirt Edward was so going down.

“Um, moving on I’m here to announce who’s out and its Leah, Bella change your shirt please and be ready in fifteen minutes I’m taking all of you out to breakfast and then to Central Park where another challenge lies ahead.” He popped off of the screen and everyone turned to face me I saw Leah crying silently and I felt bad for her I would kill to be in her position.

I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks as I knew they were wondering why in the world they could see everything although I caught Edward staring. I tried to collect as much dignity as I could and said.

“Well I’m going upstairs.” And just like that with my hair dripping on the hardwood my footprints leaving little water marks I went upstairs. My face was beet red I knew it how could Edward go that far? I glanced at the clock ten I sighed and went to dry my hair as much as possible and find an outfit for today. I came out of the bathroom five minutes later refreshed hair half dry and ready to pick out my clothes.

I picked out light jean shorts, white spaghetti strapped top with black polka dots, and black and white pumas, and I quickly tied my hair up into a high pony tail and ran downstairs. I saw everyone already there except for Leah she was gone. Everyone looked at me like I was late or something and Lily was glaring at me and I saw her shake her head and say something to Leah.

I caught the last part I was supposed to know the last part.

“Slut.” The name that stilled followed me even after high school I felt a memory arise I pushed it back and smiled.

“Is the van here yet?”

“No not yet I think Chase wanted to give you a chance to change first.” I heard Emma Lee say I sent her a grateful smile at her. I walked down the rest of the steps and just as did we heard the van honk. Everyone walked outside with Lily clinging to Edward’s side like a puppy. We all piled into the van Lily right by Edward like she was glued to him, I sat next to Adeline and Emma Lee. I couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong with Emma Lee.

She wasn’t looking at us or even trying to talk to Adeline and I, no was staring at Edward and I noted that her fists were clenching and un-clenching as she saw Lily paw all over Edward. She was jealous…for some reason I couldn’t quite accept that she couldn’t be into the competition she wasn’t like that she couldn’t be falling for Edward. But I knew she was by the fire burning in her eyes. I knew that now that she was into the game nothing would stop her to win not even her friends.

I couldn’t help but to remember that in high school she had been the one to call me slut. Yes Emma Lee had, thinking back to it I should’ve seen it coming she was like that. I remember that after I had started to date Drew she had called me a slut and wouldn’t talk to me again until senior year. Our friendship was a rocky one it always had been, no matter how far we went back it was always like that. I shook myself out of those un-pleasant thoughts and began to talk to Adeline who had been staring at me with concern evident in her eyes.

“It’s nothing Adeline really.” She looked unsure and then guessed what it was.

“It’s about the slut thing isn’t it? You’re worried about Emma Lee.” It wasn’t a question.

“It was bound to happen you know.” She pointed out I only nodded I knew she was right. We didn’t have time to discuss this further because we had arrived at iHop and it was empty, Chase was at the door waiting for us. We all got out and he said

“Welcome! I rented out the whole place so it’s only you guys.” We all nodded and walked inside we saw a long table and sat down, Edward in between Emma Lee and Lily and Emma Lee visibly flirting. I could only shake my head sadly, Tiffany sat in front on Edward and Adeline and I of to the sides. A waiter came up to us and said.

“So what can I get you girls today?” Adeline simply ordered a pancake but I went all out after all it was the International House of Pancakes it was only natural to order one of each pancake followed by a milkshake. Adeline and everyone else looked at me like I was a psycho granted I probably was but no matter. Everyone talked and Adeline and I just blended into the background.

When we left Chase made me promise that I owed him a good hundred bucks for the breakfast I had agreed and didn’t care. We then drove off to Central Park where a big burly guy was and a guy with russet colored skin stood I couldn’t help but grin and next to him wagging her tail excitedly was a 3 month old husky puppy. As soon as the van parked I had bolted out first and run of to the field and tackled Jake into a hug. He laughed and I felt my dog scratch at my legs.

“Here’s your cell phone Bells.” I looked at Jacob and sure enough there in his hands was my chocolate cell phone the old one.

“Thanks!” I picked up my puppy and hugged her close how I had missed I was vaguely aware that Adeline was already talking to Jake and everyone else was looking at me curiously what else was knew? I saw Chase walk over to us clear his throat and say

“Well I would like you all to meet Jacob Black and Emmett Cullen.” The guy named Emmett I presumed said

“Thank, thank, thank you very much no need for the applause.” I swear I heard crickets chirping.

“Well, as we all know you are all here today to play football…tag football.” I heard Jake and Emmett groan.

“I wanted to tackle Edward.” I heard Emmett mutter to Jake. I saw Jake nod in agreement.

“I’m going to assign teams on team one is Captain Edward, Tiffany, Emma Lee, and Lily.” I saw Emma Lee and Lily cheer and then glare at the other while pulling on Tiffany. Chase cleared his throat.

“And team two is Captain Bella, Emmett, Adeline, and Jacob.” I heard Lily speak up.

“Ugh why does she get two guys and we only one?”

“Because your team gets a professional soccer player the highest ranked in the lead Tiffany Spencer.”

“Oh yea.” I heard her mutter.

“Yes well let’s play some football!” I heard Chase blow the whistle and knew the games had begun when I caught the football and started running to our scoring line which was on the left. I numbly saw Edward running after me I crossed the twenty yard line then the ten. Next thing I knew I heard the whistle sound and Chase yell

“Point one goes to Bella’s team!” We all gathered up again and the ball was once again passed this time Edward had the ball and was going down fast I was running after him and so was Emmett, Jake, and Adeline. I was closer to him he was at the ten yard line so close to scoring on us not going to happened buddy not today.

Not caring about the rules I dived for him and tackled him to the ground. I heard him mutter.

“This isn’t part of the rules illegal move.”

“Too bad so sad.” I got up from the ground grabbed the ball and passed it to Jake, who passed it to Adeline who barely caught it who passed it to Emmett who scored.

“Two zero!” I heard Chase say. Once again we all scattered the field but this time I knew that our team had hell to pay. Because next thing I knew our team was being guarded to the extreme we didn’t have a chance to get the ball and Edward scored. It was our ball now but I knew Edward would somehow find a way to get it.

When the ball was tossed I ran with it towards Edward’s line and passed to Emmett he scored. I cheered and he grinned back at me.

“We’re dong good.”

“Oh yea!” We high fived then he turned to me with a pout on his face.

“Isabella-“I interrupted anything else he might say by saying

“Bella”

“Ok Bella after this if it isn’t a bother could you gets daddy a Twinkie?” He asked his eyes sparkling.

“Daddy?”

“Yes because I am you father who is so proud of his daughter scoring so many balls.”

“Random but sure.”

“Yay! And now I can brag to my friends on how I met you they are going to be so jealous.”

“Right can we just play and we’ll talk more later?”

“Right get our heads in the game got you.”

“Yea.” We got there and the ball was tossed Jacob grabbed it and headed for Edward’s scoring line he saw Emma Lee going for him and he tossed it to Adeline she didn’t catch it because well because Edward was shirtless and she was staring at his chest.

I was staring it at his chest for minute maybe two, three tops ok maybe more! But its only natural. I ran over to Emmett and Jake who were discussing game plans while trying to snap out of nirvana if it could be called that.

“Jake! Emmett!” Their head whipped around to see me and they said.

“Yea?”

“Take off your shirts!” They both reacted differently example one Jake.

“What for? I don’t like you in that way you know I mean I used to.” That is enough and example two Emmett.

“But my daughter I can not do that! You can not make your own father to do such things!” He really got into that father role didn’t he?

“Well it can be explained see I need you guys to do that because I need the girls on Edward’s team to get distracted example why this will work is Adeline.” I pointed to her and it clicked inside their heads they said

“Ah.”

“Ah?”

“Ah.” Ok weird but they understood so that’s a plus. And just like that they took of their shirts immediately dragging the attention of the girls. I didn’t stare at Jake for long considering the fact that I kind of grew up with him but Emmett lordly he had better toned abs than Drew if that was possible and was a that an eight pack?

Bella clear your head! We started the game once again but now Edward was a one man team considering that they girls were to busy staring at Jake and Emmett. I had the ball and was running towards Edward’s scoring line when I heard the words.

“Yea baby lets get it on!” I turned to see the source of the voice and saw that a crowd of people had gathered to watch us play football. I looked for the guy that said the comment and spotted him right away because the was showing off to his buddies. I was about to chuck the football at his face when I heard Edward behind me.

“Nice underwear.” I looked down I couldn’t believe it! Edward had pulled down my shorts! My hot pink and black underwear clearing visible to the public so that’s wear that remark came from he was so going down.

I quickly ran after him noting that he had the football. I tackled him down just as he was about to score the football had gone flying into Jake’s arms and I saw him speed off towards the other side of the field Adeline close behind him. I looked down at Edward mostly at his eyes and he looked back at me.

“This is interesting we always manage to end up like this you know.”

“Yea truth is told Edward I just can’t seem to keep my hands off of you.” I said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes but grinned at me.

“How’s about we make this interesting.” He arched an eyebrow at me.

“Oh?”

“Well how’s about that loser owes winner a game of truth.”

“And what might truth be?”

“Well you have to answer what ever question your opponent asks truthfully and it can be at any given time when you want to ask a question.”

“I would’ve thought that you could come up with something better but that works too.” We grinned at the other and then got up.

“Oh and Edward.”

“Yes?”

“I’m still going to tackle you.”

“I knew that was coming.” And just like that we left to join our teams. I was grinning internally to myself the whole way. We played for about two more hours when Chase finally said

“Ok guys one more point and one of your teams wins.”

“Ready?” We all nodded he tossed the football and Edward grabbed it immediately. He hadn’t forgotten the bet. I ran after him at top speed I was gaining ground I was right behind him when I dived for him he went tumbling down the ball soared to Adeline who caught it while doing a tiny victory dance. I shifted my attention to Edward.

“I win.”

“Right my team still has a ch-“

“Bella’s team wins!”

“It’s gone.”

“Exactly so Edward you owe me a game of truth.” I got off him and went towards my team. Emmett lifted me up onto his shoulders and Jake had Adeline on his.

“Our winning ladies!” Next thing I knew we had broken into a chorus of we are the champions. I looked over to Edward’s team they were arguing on who was standing next to Edward. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Emmett said

“Soooo when do I get my Twinkie?”

“Um, now?” I said uncertainly while pointing to a near-by convenient store next thing I knew I was being hauled by Emmett to buy his prized Twinkie. We who is we? I ended up buying like sixteen packets of Twinkies for Emmett I mean ‘dad’ he would ground me if I him called Emmett. After that I piled into the van with everyone else and was surprised to see Emmett joining up. I said good-bye to Jake and Blaze and went home. It wasn’t a dull ride that’s for sure with Emmett around.

When we got home everyone just wanted to talk to Emmett but Emmett had said

“No ladies sorry I have to talk to my brother who is making dinner.” Dinner? And just like that Emmett whisked off Edward into the kitchen. I sat down on the couch and watched TV no one paid much attention to me on the count of they were either going to take a shower or go to the pool, I was going to take a shower later I decided. I wonder what’s going on in the kitchen.
