“I’m thinking that either she said yes, or you’re happy to have been rejected,” Harry said upon Ron’s entrance to the Common Room. Ron, practically skipping, came over to the couch at which Harry was lying, reading a book.
“She said yes mate,” Ron said. Not minding Harry’s legs, Ron plopped down on the couch. Wincing at the contact of his tall friend’s weight on his legs, Harry set his book aside.
“So how does it feel to have a girlfriend then?” Harry asked.
“Bloody amazing,” Ron replied. “Now all we have to do is get you one.” Harry rolled his eyes.
“Good luck on finding one that would like me for me and not my image,” Harry mumbled, picking up his book once more. Ron rolled his eyes.
“You know, there is someone who would date you for you,” he said. Harry glanced up at him.
“And who might that be?” Harry asked. Ron smirked.
“I’ll see if you can figure that one out for yourself,” he replied. Still smirking triumphantly, Ron got up and left the Common Room in search of his new girlfriend. Harry sighed and returned to his book. Yes, he thought of one person he knew would like him for him, but he knew she didn’t like him.
O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O.O
Harry walked into the Library, dead set on finding the book to his Transfiguration homework before anyone else had a chance to get it. If they did, there would be a waiting list a mile long before it was over with. He was so preoccupied with finding it, he didn’t watch where he was going and he ran straight into someone.
Getting up from the ground, Harry looked down and met a pair of chocolate eyes that were staring up at him. He felt the heat rise to his cheeks as he stared at Hermione.
“Sorry Hermione,” he said, holding out a hand to help her up. His stomach jumped as she took it. He bent down to pick up the books she dropped in effort to keep himself in check.
“Thanks Harry,” she said as he handed her the books she had dropped upon their collision.
“You’re welcome,” he said. Awkwardly, he scratched the back of his neck. “Er…do you want to uh, do you want to study with me?” At the mention of studying, her eyes lit up.
“Sure,” she said. He went with her to find a table for the two of them, and the left to find that book for Transfiguration.
It was quiet between the two of them. The only noise heard was the scratching of their quills across their parchment. Every once in a while, Harry would glace over at Hermione and the sigh softly before going back to work.
Upon the completion of his homework, Harry dropped his quill and sat back in his chair, stretching. He looked over to Hermione, who was still diligently working on her essays. She was biting her bottom lip, a telltale sign that she was either frustrated or annoyed.
“Done,” she mumbled to herself. She looked up. “What? Do I have something on my face?” Harry snapped out of it.
“Oh, no. I er, I just sort of got lost in thought,” he said. He averted gaze from her and looked down at his essay that was still lying there. He went to speak but he stopped himself.
“Hey,” Harry said suddenly. Hermione raised an eyebrow at his sudden outburst, but cocked her head as if to say go on.
“It’s a Hogsmead weekend. Do you…do you want to go with me?” Harry asked, finally looking at his best friend. A small smile was on her face as she looked at him. An uncomfortable feeling settled in his stomach as he braced himself for rejection when she didn’t answer immediately.
“Sure…I’d like that,” she finally said. Harry about fell out of his chair at her answer.
“Erm…great, thanks,” he said. He picked his stuff up from the table quickly and stuffed it into his bag.
“I uh…I’m going to go back up to the Common Room. I guess I’ll see you later,” he mumbled before he left the Library. Amused, Hermione’s gaze followed him out of the doors. The boy was so clueless.
It was supposed to be out yesterday. I fully blame my midterms. I’m sorry, but I had to study. I had my last two today and I’m now off for the next, oh, week and a half. So, I have lots of free time to write! Yay!
Today’s fic will be up shortly. 4 days, 3 fics to go! Happy Holidays!
