Unwanted Boundaries
1: I Wonder
He was an attention-grabber.
If you were of the female gender and he came into your eyesight, you’d most likely whisper ‘he’s hot’ either to yourself or your comrades.
Soft-spoken yet firm and handsome, Li Syaoran was everyone in Tomoeda High’s dream prince.
And she was intrigued.
At age sixteen, Kinomoto Sakura had had him on the mind since ninth grade, when he’d transferred to the district.
She sighed, her green eyes flicking to him once again.
There he was, absently tapping his pencil on the desk and trying to focus on what the teacher said; not that it was anything they hadn’t learned already.
Finally, the bell rang. “Li!” The young man turned at the call of his name. “I was just wondering…if maybe you wanted to hang with Tomoyo and I today?” No one could say she didn’t try.
Face blank, he shook his head. “Sorry, Kinomoto. I have things to do.”
Slightly put-out, she frowned, determined this time. “Where in the world does he go, Tomoyo?” She turned to her best friend.
“Who knows?” She shrugged. “Wanna find out?”
The auburn-haired girl grinned. “I love your mind.”

It was so observation.
Not stalking. Absolutely not stalking.
They were not stalking Li.
Nope.
…Okay, let’s face it—we’re stalking the poor thing. Sakura sighed. But I really wanna know…He dodges every time I ask with ‘I have things to do’.
Turn, turn, turn. Left, right, left.
It was endless.
Until finally, he slipped into a dark corner…and someone was there with him.
She’d had to cover her mouth to keep from gasping.
“Hey, you.” His whisper still managed to reach her shocked ears. “Where have you been? I was worried…”
But, the most shaking part was yet to come.
“Oh, Syao…” Not only was it an older voice, it was an older male’s voice. Deeper, more masculine, and soft, the silhouette of this man was definitely larger than the teenager’s. “Kiss me?”
He stood with eyes closed, waiting for his face to be devoured, to be touched in private places.
As he let out an audible cry of ecstasy, she decided to leave at this point, as she found herself sick to her stomach.
“Come on, Tomoyo.” She motioned, zombie-like. “I think…we’ve seen enough.”

The next day, she couldn’t even look at the snoozing brunette.
No wonder he seemed so tired…he’d been up all night with an older man. Men? Who’s to say?
“Sakura-chan…” Her friend set a comforting hand on shoulder. “I’m sorry you had to see that…after all, you like Li-kun, right?”
“No, just curious.” She said, but then shut her eyes in thought. But what if…that sickening feeling…was jealousy? Her eyes shot open to dart to the still-sleeping, chocolate-haired male. What if…what if I really wanted him to hold me…like his boyfriend—if that’s what he was—did?
Worried, she decided to get ready for the lesson.

“Tadaima!” She called. “Onii-chan? Otou-san?”
“In the kitchen, Sakura-san.” He father replied congenially. “Okari nasai. How was school?”
She flushed as she remembered her train of thought earlier. “All well and good, I guess.”
“Still flunking math, I bet.” Her elder brother, going on 23 soon, didn’t have classes today. “Kai-juu.”
A vein throbbed in her temple as she made a fist. “I’m not a monster…”
“Now, now…” Their father, with his bright smile, calmed them. “Come then, I’ve made stir-fry. Aren’t the two of you hungry?”
“Wai!” She cried happily, near tears of joy. “Thanks, Dad!”
“See, a monster’s appetite.”
Needless to say, Touya wouldn’t be able to feel the toes on his left foot for a while.

“So, where are you working now, Onii-chan?” The jade-eyed girl said between mouthfuls of food.
“That new restaurant downtown—y’know, the one that just opened up last year?” He wiped his mouth, finished. “And the ice cream stand on weekends, like usual.”
“Always with the jobs, huh?” She mused. “Thanks, Otou-san, it was awesome!”
“You’re welcome.” He smiled. “I’m just glad you two aren’t fighting.”
They smirked.
During the whole dinner, they’d been at each other’s feet without getting caught.

After she’d showered, changed into her pajamas, and brushed her teeth, she plopped onto her bed with the phone already speed-dialing her best friend’s number.
“Hello, Daidouji residence?” Her soft voice chimed.
“Hey, Tomoyo.” Sakura called brightly, flipping onto her stomach. “What’s up?”
“Sakura!” She exclaimed happily before toning down. “Did you want to talk about it?”
She smiled sadly despite her not being able to see that. “You know me too well, Tomoyo.”
“I’ve been your best friend since second grade—of course I do.” She giggled, making her do so as well. “But, y’know, I wouldn’t worry so much about it.”
“Why do you say that?” She blinked her big, green eyes curiously.
She giggled lightly once more. “We’re adolescents. Preferences aren’t set in stone, Sakura.”
“I don’t like Li!” The Kinomoto female fumed. “I was just curious!”
Her tinkling laughter made her calm a bit. “Right, sorry.”
She sighed, knowing she’d never win this battle. “Okay, maybe I like him a little bit.” She stressed the word for emphasis.
“That’s my girl.” Tomoyo smiled, she could tell, even over the phone. “Good night, Sakura.”
“G’night, Tomoyo.” Click.
