Whirly Pop

inspired by mausmouse’s fanart

Sasuke sighed undoing the wrapper of the candy his brother bought to him before he left him by himself in the middle of the festival. Nibbling the tip of the whirly pop candy between his lips he continued to walk along the stalls uninterested. He was very eager and happy when his brother accepted to take him to the village for the festival in spite of their father’s certain objection.

The little child sighed. He was bored. His elder brother ditched him again. He told he would be back in half hour but it was about two hours he was nowhere in sight. He watched the children who were with their parents or elder siblings, laughing, running around having fun. He wished he was one of them. He wondered why his father and he couldn’t be like them or his brother… he was always busy; always have studies or works he had to do.

He got free of the crowd which was gathered around some men who were playing a stupid play. He walked away leaving the joyful laughter of the people behind. There were lesser people around as he began to get close to the exit of the place. There was one or two in front of the stalls. He glanced to a girl around his age that was standing in front of a fish pond. He was going to walk pass her but her eyes caught his attention. She was by herself and not looking like she was enjoying herself watching the colorful fishes swim in the small pond. The reflection of water which the sun was dancing in was glittering in her big white eyes making them look like huge pearls in the deeps of the oceans. She was looking sad.

Hinata looked up when she noticed someone was standing two feet away from her. She blushed when she came eye to eye with the boy who was staring at her curiously. She looked down feeling more down then before. Why they always stared her eyes. Her eyes began to burn but she refused to cry. Her father would be very mad if he heard it.

She was brought to the festival by the maid who always took care of her. However the young woman left her by herself and went with her friends to have fun. She has been sitting on a stool in front of a tea and odango house waiting for the woman to come and fetch her but she was late. After struggling to collect her courage for a while she could get up from her seat and came to the stall where there was a fish pond. She has been watching the fishes swim from one side to other for hours.

The little girl was startled as white and red whirls blocked her sight. She looked up to the boy startled.

“You are cute,” he said smiling. He had the darkest eyes she had ever seen. “Here,” he offered the candy to her again. Blushing Hinata took the candy hesitant.

“T-thank you.” She thanked with a very low voice Sasuke hardly heard her. He beamed back and held her hand.

“Did you see the ducks?”

“Uun.” She mumbled behind the candy.

“Come.”

“Hiashi-sama is going to kill me!” the young woman cried frantically running to and fro among the stalls in the empty festival area. “I am dead! I am dead!”

“Itachi?” the woman at her early thirties called her older son who just came in. The boy about ten years old looked up bored to his mother.

“Where is Sasuke?” he blinked dropping his shoe down beside its other pair.

“Uhm.” He knew he was in a big trouble. “He is not home?”
