A/N: I don't own any characters in Wolf's Rain, because trust me, if I did, I would write in very big letters across the screen after every episode: WOLF OF BLACK SILVER OWNS THIS!! HAHAHAHAHA! BE VERY JEALOUS. If you ever see that at an end of an episode, you will know who owns it. :)

“I’m coming Tsume, keep your shirt on! And, I’m not a runt!” She called back to him, quickening her pace.
Tsume just smirked at this comment. He had to admit, she wasn’t a runt anymore. She had grown and was no longer the scrawny pup halfway through the bridge that connected puppyhood to wolf-hood. She was larger than Blue, and stood a few inches below Kiba’s head in her human form. Nope, she certainly could no longer be called a runt. But, no one is the pack stopped called her runt, it was just a nickname that just stuck to her, and she took it in good stride.
Tsume continued walking, carrying a bag of food in one arm, and Toboe a few feet behind him, carrying another bag containing food. Her footsteps feel perfectly with his own, so he was able to tell how far behind him she was. When they stopped going for a few feet, he turned to call to her again, but saw she was staring down an alley way, and then quickly ran into. Tsume followed, not knowing what had gotten in to the she-wolf.
He found her kneeling beside something, and walked over, hoping she didn’t stop for a dying cat.
“Runt, what are you doing? We need to…” He trailed off when he saw what Toboe was kneeling besides.
It was a somewhat young she-wolf, maybe a little older than Blue. Her breath was low, and it looked like she was in agony. But, that wasn’t what caught his attention the most. Lying beside her was a small pup that looked not even 3 months old, and it was pressed against its mother, cowering at the sight of the older wolves.
“Please. I’m dying, please take my pup! I beg of you!” The she-wolf said, gently nuzzling her pup toward Toboe, who took it in her arms without a second thought.
“Please, take care of him. I can’t leave this world in peace if I don’t know my little boy is safe.” She wheezed out.
“I’ll take care of him, I promise you! I will take care of him with my life, and will protect him!” Toboe said, holding the pup gently, yet firmly in her hands.
The she-wolf smiled.
“His name is Aragorn…..thank…you…...when….he’s…older….tell him…..that….I….love….him.” She said more slowly, her breaths becoming more labored.
Again, Toboe nodded.
“Thank….you…thank….you…” Were the final words of the she-wolf.
Toboe and Tsume stood in silence for a few minutes, letting what happened sink in. It was Tsume who finally spoke.
“Let’s go, the others are waiting.” He said, and led the way out of the alley, and Toboe followed after a moment’s hesitation.
Tsume heard a small whining, and turned to see Toboe gently holding the pup, along with carrying the bag of food.
“You aren’t keep that are you?” He asked, giving the pup a slight look of annoyance.
Toboe looked surprised at what he said.
“Of course I am. I promised that she-wolf I would take care of him and protect him with my life.” She said, looking confused at the male wolfs annoyance.
“Just throw it in a river, will ya? It’s not worth our time!” He said, again looking annoyed.
Toboe was shocked at this comment. Then, she got angry, her motherly instincts kicking in.
“I will not do that! And, it’s not waste of our time! Also, if you even think of doing such a thing to Aragorn, or look at him the wrong way, I will rip your throat out!” She growled, giving him a death glare that made his unconsciously shudder.
He was shocked by the tone of voice and threat issued to him by Toboe. He had never heard him speak to him in that way. He had heard never heard her speak that way to anyone! Sure, she had threatened Hige on an occasion, but never this seriously.
“Calm down Toboe! Fine, you can keep it!” He said, taking a step back from the angry she-wolf.
The latter gave him a stiff nod, then walked toward him, and pushed the bag of food she was carrying into his hands, than stalked off, putting her full attention on the pup in her hands.
Tsume just silently followed, still surprised at how angrily Toboe reacted to his comment. He knew one thing; it would be a very silent trip back.

“There you are runt! It’s about time you two returned, I’m dead hungry! Hey, what’s that?” Hige asked making his way to Toboe to see what it is she was carrying.
When he made out what it was, he jumped back surpised.
“How the hell do you go out for food, and come back with a pup?!” He yelled.
At the mention of pup, both Kiba and Blue ‘s head shot up and they quickly made their way to where Toboe stood, to see if what Hige said was true.
When they saw that is was, both of their eyes widened, and while Kiba looked confused, Blue got all mushy inside.
“He’s adorable! Where did you find him?” She said, looking at the puppy as if it was the cutest thing she ever saw, which it probably was.
Before Toboe could answer, Tsume spoke up.
“This dame runt ran into an alley and found a dying she-wolf. The she-wolf asked if Toboe would take care of the stupid pup, and, of course, the runt agreed! When I told her to throw it in a river, she threatened to rip my throat out.” He said, giving the puppy an evil look.
“How could you say that?! It’s an innocent and defenseless puppy, and you want to kill it?! How cold and cruel can you be?!” Blue asked, shocked at what he said.
“I don’t care what Tsume says, or even what Kiba and Hige say. I promised I would take care of Aragorn, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. You male might not like me taking care of him, and seeing as Kiba is the leader, he can order me to get rid of him. But, if Aragorn goes, than I’m going along with him!” Toboe said defiantly.
The three males were again, shocked, but Blue just nodded, agreeing with everything the other female wolf said. Not waiting for an answer from the others, Toboe took one of the bags Tsume was carrying, and walked off with Aragorn in her hands, and Blue by her side, both of them admiring the pup.
Tsume turned to Kiba.
“We can’t have a pup here! It would slow us down, and can only cause trouble!” He said angrily.
Kiba took a deep breath, trying to recover from the shock of finding out Toboe found a pup, her threat to Tsume, and then threatening to leave.
“Well, it’s either we allow her to keep the pup, or she leaves the pack to take care of it. And, if she leaves, most likely Blue will leave as well.” He said, earning a groan from Tsume and Hige.
Though none of them were exactly excited about having the pup, none of them wanted Toboe or Blue to leave, so they voted for the lesser of two evils and decided to keep the pup.

When the three males made sat down by the two females, neither of them looked at them, and kept their attention on either each other, or the newest, and youngest, member.
Toboe was chewing on some meat and would than push it into the pup’s mouth, encouraging him to eat. But, no matter how many times she put the meat into the pup’s mouth, he would just cough it up. She looked up at Blue, still not acknowledging the males seated around them.
“Blue we need to get him milk. I would give him some myself, but I can’t produce it as of now.” She said, worry clouding her eyes.
Blue nodded.
“I’ll go back into town and will try to find some. If not, I will try to find something else that will work well in its place.” She said, standing up, she too ignoring the males.
“I’ll come with you Blue! Two’s better than one.” Hige said, standing as well.
Blue just nodded, and took off, Hige running to catch up.
Toboe was now left alone with Tsume and Kiba, but she still refused the acknowledge them. She just continued to try and get the pup to eat a small amount of the meat she would chew up and give to him. Kiba finally spoke, hoping to right things with the she-wolf in front of them.
“Toboe, all three of us have decided that it’s best if you keep the pup, and stay with the pack. We’re sorry for how we acted before.” He said.
Toboe smiled. She knew they would come around sooner or later, and that they would rather have the pup in the pack instead of her leaving. She nodded to the two males, showing that she heard them, and then turned her attention back to the pup in her arms. He was still refusing the meat given to him, and she was getting very worried.
Tsume and Kiba saw this, and, though they would be the last to admit it, were starting to get slightly worried about the pup.
All they could do was wait until Blue and Hige returned, hopefully with something that the pup would eat.

It was an hour before Blue and Hige returned, Blue holding a large bottle filled with a white liquid.
“Here Toboe, it was the best we found. The store manager said it was goat’s milk, and was healthier for infants than cow’s milk. Hope it helps” She said while handing over the bottle to the brown she-wolf.
Toboe took it and gave Blue and Hige a grateful smile. She dipped her fingers into the milk, finding it to be warm, and placed her fingers close to the pup’s mouth, hoping her would start suckling them.
Her patience was rewarded when the pup eagerly started sucking on her fingers, licking every last drop of the milk off. A small whine escaped his mouth he could no longer get any more milk off of Toboe’s fingers.
The she-wolf smiled, and then pulled out a small leather bottle that they used to hold water, and emptied the contents before filling it once again with milk. She bit a small hole in the corner so it would let out a steady stream of milk when suckled, and held it to the pup’s mouth, which he greedily took, sucking hard on the leather. At the sight of the puppy drinking and finally getting a meal, Toboe’s smiled widened, and she looked at the pup with such love and tenderness in her eyes.
She was unaware of the looks the other pack members were giving her. Blue was looking at her with a sense of pride, Kiba and Hige were shocked at this new development in Toboe. I mean sure, she was kind-hearted and somewhat innocent, but they had never seen her act this caring in any way. They knew that is was a female instinct that came to all female species, but it still surprised them. Tsume, however, looked at her with a somewhat tender look. He had never seen her so gentle and wished that she would act that way with him.
‘Wait, what am I saying? This is Toboe, the runt of a pup you saved back in Freeze City.’ He mentally beat himself up for thinking things like this.
But, a part of him still wished for her to act like that around him. He sighed. He knew this pup would cause nothing but trouble.
