Chapter 9: Unexpected News
A/n: All right, fine you big babies. Lol. I will continue KMD. I realized the reason I was stuck was because I don’t know much about how getting signed to a record deal works, so this is several months after they get signed. Oh, and Derek’s hair grew out, so it’s long now.
Peter sat back in his Lazy boy drinking a glass of wine and counting the money. Huh. Only 8 million dollars for the rest of the month. They would have to cut back on the partying.
“This is life. No bratty kid around to dishonor the family, Chris is in college, and Ron has become a doctor. And on top of it all, I can relax and watch the boring old news with no surprises whatsoever”
“Our top Story for tonight, Quahog based rock band ‘Sordid Little Pictures’ has quickly risen to the top of the Punk rock scene, with their new single, Bite the Bullet. The band has quickly risen from a relatively unknown band to National superstars only four months after being signed to Razor Sharp Records, due much in part to the amazing skill of their keyboardist, 12 year old Stewart Griffin, a former member of the Elite Orchestra of Rhode Island.”“LOIS, LOIS get in here quick” Peter yelled.
“I’m not changing you again Peter, you’re a big boy, do it yourself” Lois yelled.
“No it’s not about that, woman, it’s about Stewie, get in here”
Lois rushed into the living room just in time to here the rest of the report.
We now go to Asian reporter Trisha Takanowa, for a live interview With Derek, Brian, and Stewie, the Singer, Drummer and Keyboardist respectively of Sordid Little Pictures.
“Thanks Tom, I’m standing here with three amazing young men, all of who are extraordinary musicians, especially Stewie. Tell us son, how does it feel to be in one of the biggest Punk bands on East coast”
“Um. It feels good Trisha, really good. Especially when I get to hang with the crowd afterward.”
“Oh. My. God.” Lois said.
Her 12-year-old son, stood there with a black and blond Mohawk, and a lip and tongue ring, wearing a white dress shirt, baggy black Tripp pants, and black and white converse. On either side of him were two grown men, one wearing all black with long wild Blue and black hair, and another dressed in all denim with long bleach blond hair in a Ponytail.
“Really?” Trisha inquired, “What’s great about it”
“Well, I mean, it’s cool. I get these looks of admiration from kids I don’t even know. Some five and six years older than me. I even got made out with for the first time after our last concert.”
“Oh ho, gotta love that. Careful girls, this guy’s a lady killer.”
“Umm, yeah. Sure.” Stewie said shifting uncomfortably.
“Derek, would you mind telling us a little more about Sordid Little pictures?”
“Sure” the blue haired man said “Sordid Little Pictures was originally started in Quahog, Rhode Island back in March of 2007. At the time, Brian and I were the only ones in the band. We knew we couldn’t make a good band with nothing but a drummer and a singer. So we talked to our friend Isaac about playing guitar for us. He never really answered at the time, then, about a week later, he just showed up at my house, guitar in hand. From there I called up my little cousin Joey, who was only 14 at the time, because I knew he played bass. We practiced together for about four months before our first local show. After that, Quahog went crazy for us. We entered a contest to open for Suffocate me dry in Providence. We won, and from there everything exploded for us. It was then we realized we needed more songs to play for the set. We had only recorded a three-song demo on Audacity with a shitty mic. We decided to add a keyboardist to the group. We decided on Joey’s then sixteen-year-old girlfriend, Michelle Genson. We added keyboard stuff to our Instrumental prelude, Bleed, and Martyr, and wrote five more songs. Then, after we opened for Suffocate me dry, we won enough money to self-produce our EP, “The Scandal” and we toured on that for about eighteen months. But Michelle decided she didn’t want to be in the band anymore. We held auditions, and came across Stewie in the crowd, and the rest is history.”
“And after signing to Razor Sharp Records you become an overnight sensation?”
Brian answered this time “Yeah. We started touring with Shoot the Messenger a lot, and before long, everyone knew who we were. It also helped that a lot of people already knew Stewie from the orchestra” he said, ruffling the young blonde’s head affectionately.
“There we have it. And since there is absolutely no other news in this stupid ass town, Sordid little pictures will be back to play their new single, “Bite the Bullet” After the break.”
“Holy Crap” Peter said, dropping his wine glass in shock.
“Peter. We’ve got to get him back. He’s got to be raking in cash like there’s no freakin tomorrow.”
“You’re right Lois, to the HindenPeter!”
Lois and Peter ran outside, and got in the Blimp shaped like Peter’s head. The only barely got it off the ground however, and it crashed in Joe’s yard.
“OH MY GOD, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEK, DAMNIT”
“Joe, I’m so sorry”
“CAN’T YOU TAKE A FUCKING CAR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON?”
“Yeah that’s probably a good idea” Peter agreed.
He and Lois ran to their fancy sports car, and somehow, managed to back it into the side of Joe’s house before driving away.
“Sorry Joe”
“ONE MORE TIME AND I’LL ARREST YOUR ASS!”
Peter and Lois raced toward the venue where Sordid little pictures was about to perform, intent on getting their son back and milking his fame for all it was worth. Little did they know, it wasn’t going to be as easy as they expected.
