Summary: - Missing scene from ‘Robot’. When Harry takes the Doctor down the medical room, the Time Lord has a vision about a war that’s about to happen, somewhere in the far future, his future.
A Truth Forgotten
Harry gladly followed the Brigadier’s orders and went to attend his new patience, a very special one. Two soldiers helped carry the Doctor out to a medical examination room. Harry wasn’t sure what it was that he was getting himself into.
He heard stories from other sailors and shipmates of his about a man known as ‘The Doctor’ and that he has a time travelling machine called ‘the TARDIS’. They also say that his time travelling device was in a shape of a 1950’s police box. The initiative of time travelling inside a phone box seemed so ridiculous, he was a respectable man, and he had more important things to take care off than just some silly story.
The Doctor was Harry’s main priority and he made a promise to the Brigadier to give him full attention. Harry was walking behind the three men and all he could hear was the Doctor talking complete gobbledegook. One second he was talking about the polarity of the neutron flow and then something about aliens that could turn themselves inside out.
“So, did any of you chaps see a young man walking around in a skirt or something? He had a Scottish or Irish accent, I think? I was supposed to meet him somewhere along with a young lady but I can’t remember where.” The Doctor started. “Ah! Jennie I think his name is — or was it Jessie?” He raised an eyebrow and thought about it.
“Oh! And did you know that if you put caesium near water or expose it to oxygen, it’ll explode and blow your faces up!” The Doctor spread his arms out wide as an exploding gesture. “I did something like that before. Ha! Blown up half of the classroom I did.” The Doctor laughed out loud.
Good God, Harry thought miserably. It was going to be a very long day to try and stable this man. He shook his head and then stopped as the Doctor was gazing up at the roof; he looked a thousand miles away.
“Doctor,” Harry asked. “Doctor, are you okay?”
The Doctor looked terrified; he didn’t move a muscle or say anything. He was a statue of a man standing alone with two other men standing beside him. Harry walked in front of him and tried looking into the Doctor’s eyes.
“War,” the Time-Lord whispered coldly. “I can feel war... buildings…. homes…. burning and crumbling to the ground. I can hear people screaming… running away in fear as they come. I don’t know what they are…. small… metallic robots shooting plasma beams at people… I never… saw such devastation.” The Doctor’s voice was boarded up with terror. “Inferno carnage…. a universe at war and I don’t know why.”
“Doctor, what are you talking about, what war?” Harry said.
The Doctor quickly snapped out of his trance. "Pardon?"
“You said something about inferno carnage, about there being a war of some sort.”
“Rubbish, you must be hearing things.” The Doctor scolded and walked on as if nothing had happen.
Harry stood in silence when the Doctor walked on by him. Weird, he had never heard anything quite like it before.
Of course he had seen something like this in a few patients, one minute they are talking about something and then forgetting what they had said. But not like this, it looked serious and Harry had better look after this man well before he does anything he shouldn’t be doing… or say something for that matter.
