Author Note - This story is a continuation from my other fanfic Majora's Curse. It occurs after a few generations have passed. About two years before the Majora's Mask incident occurs. Anyway, enjoy.

Eons ago after four warriors banished Bellum from Termina.

Majora, the warrior of the east, fell victim to the cruel trickery of a demon mask

As a result the Morpha clan went extinct and the mask itself was put into play

Majora cast all this knowing it could risk Bellum’s return

But the need of her clan’s revival was in her heart

She wanted to save them from the mask’s evil

She summoned forth an imp to transport the mask great distances

Hoping someone would be foolish enough to pick it up

Knowing this the imp was ordered to find a hero too

But the events of that story will unfold in the years to come

Instead this tale is of a child, a last remaining descendant of the Morpha clan

Her blood traces all the way back to Princess Celestia

Princess Celestia escaped Ikana Valley before its destruction

She fled alongside other Morphas in hope of finding a new home free of their tyrannical king

They succeeded and lived in Termina unnoticed.

Time moves on, generations go by, until no one of the fleeing Morphas was left

The only one who remained married a human maiden and conceived a child

The parents left the child behind in Termina as they travelled a faraway land

The child has reached the age to travel now

Her curious mind had begun to question and wonder

Soon enough she’ll leave Clock Town and embark on her own travels

The streets of Clock Town bustled with activity in the late afternoon markets. It was calming down as the Carnival of Time had ended a few weeks ago. The carnival was taken very seriously by the people of Termina usually the ecstatic atmosphere remained in Clock Town for weeks after the event. Soon enough the city would return to its normal serene state. Wandering the streets in the early evening was a child. She was all alone walking through East Clock Town, obviously heading back somewhere with sack over her shoulder.

Her spiky dark brown fringe hung messily around her face, the rest of her wild hair was tied back into a short ponytail. A bluish green jester hat rested on her head with a dark blue band. Her pointed ears were pierced multiple times and now dangled with silver studs and sleepers. She wore a long blue tunic with a tattered bluish green vest hanging open over her torso. Beneath the long tunic she wore a pair of frayed bluish green shorts. Her feet were covered by a pair of sturdy boots with belts around them to hold them in place. Her face was covered by a Keaton mask.

Jim, the young leader of the Bombers saw her. He instantly readied his dog and growled “There she is! Let’s get her!” he untied the leash around his dog. Despite his pooch being fluffy and rather cute, it actually had many social problems. It always attacked people, especially Dekus. The rest of the Bombers crowded around their leader. They wanted to see the dog draw blood.

The dog sprinted forward and pounced at the girl. But she knew it was coming. The girl dived to the ground. The dog was still in mid air as it soared over her head and crashed into a mail box. The Bombers came out of their hiding places and ran over to their leader’s beloved pet. The girl bolted off into the distance.

“What do you kids think you’re doing!? HOW DARE YOU DAMAGE A POST BOX!?”

The Bombers turned around nervously to see the Postman behind them. He was keeping to his schedule as usual and had just turned the corner to find them crowded around the destroyed mailbox. He despised people who damaged Post Office property.

“Run for it!” ordered Jim as the Bombers split in different directions. The Postman making haste, he was wickedly fast from his work.

The girl had seen everything and was now in a fit of giggles from the roof of the Stock Pot Inn.

“Shadow, please don’t tell me you’ve been terrorising the Bombers again”

She turned to see a tall woman with short red hair. She was dressed in a plain brown vest, white blouse and a long blue skirt. She pulled up her mask and replied “Come on Ms Anju, they provoked it” her blue eyes were blazing with excitement.

“I know they do. But you can’t keep retaliating like you do. You’ll never make any friends your own age if you keep doing that”

“Why would I want the Bombers to be my friends? They’re losers. Besides they don’t like the idea of a girl capable of beating them up”

“I guess I wouldn’t know. I’ve never been in that situation before”

“Still, I better get back to Gramps” Shadow said as she grabbed the sack by her side and swang it over her shoulder “See ya later Ms Anju”

“Bye Shadow”

Shadow slid down the roof and landed in the street. She quickly ran up towards the Mayor’s office and headed right. There was a small dark alleyway in the corner. Wasting no time, she went down the alleyway and down to the tunnel entrance it concealed.

The underground tunnels leading to the Astronomer’s observatory were always dank. No one really came down here so it was always covered with slime and sometimes you found a spider or two. But it was safer to travel through the tunnels than the fields above. Shadow waded through the waters towards her destinations. Unlike most of the children in Clock Town, she didn’t live with her parents. Instead she lived with a family friend, the Astronomer or ‘Gramps’ as she likes to call him.

The old man looked up from his maps of the celestial bodies. He was dressed in blue robes and had a mane and thick beard of silver hair. He looked down the stairwell to see that Shadow had returned from town. Her jester hat stuck out amongst the mountains of star gazing tools and junk.

“Ah Shadow, I’ve been waiting for you”

She placed the sack on a nearby table in the cluttered room and threw her mask onto the hammock she called her bed. Shadow quickly ran up the stairs to see him “What for Gramps?”

“To give you something, it belonged to your father’s mother. He wanted me to give it to you when you came of age”

“O…kay?”

The Astronomer passed Shadow a small satchel. She promptly opened it to find a silver gem on a long chord and a choker. The choker was a gold ring with two long silver ribbons flowing from it.

Shadow paused and gazed at their beauty “They’re beautiful… what are they for?”

“I’m not sure. Your father instructed me to give it to you when you were old enough”

“Thanks Gramps” she said as she placed the two pieces of jewellery around her neck “Have you heard anything from Mum and Dad?”

“Not today Shadow”

She let out a small sigh of disappointment. Shadow turned to descend down the stairs “I’ll go get dinner ready Gramps”

“Thankyou Shadow” the Astronomer turned back to his work. He felt so depressed for his adopted daughter. ‘She believes her parents have just gone on a long trip… she doesn’t even realise they left her in Termina while they travelled elsewhere. This façade has gone on for so long… I’m a monster for keeping her hopes up. They’re not coming back. They’ll never step on Termina’s soil ever again’
