Story title: She's a Prodigy
Chapter 1: Are you sure?
Disclaimer: I dont own Tekken or any musical lyrics in this fic.
“ I don’t really know how this happened…or why, but I supposed it was for the best.”
Ling Xiaoyu
Just the facts:
Ling Xiaoyu is the world’s five-time national champion in the competitive sport of gymnastics. Standing at five feet and three inches, weighing roughly at one hundred pounds at the age of eighteen this girl is the icon of China.
Flashback
Ling shut the door to her locker and walked to her homeroom class, another day at school. Another day learning about stuff that would supposedly put her country ahead of America. Opening the door slowly she looked around. It was only 7:45 am and most of her classmates were already studying. Taking her seat she pulled out her history textbook and began to glance through it.
“ Hey Xiaoyu.” A girl with straight black hair said to her in a cheerful tone. She sat next to her and sat her book bag on the desk before them. The black bag was accentuated colorful with pins of different anime characters on them.
“Hi Weilyn. Hmmm. I don’t think you can have all of those pins on your bag. They are supposed to be a black aren’t I correct?” Ling closed her eyes lightly tapping the bag with her index finger.
“ Ohh Xiaoyu you are such a goodie goodie.” They girl replied with a snooty laugh, but her laughter was soon cut short by the teacher entering the classroom. He almost immediately noticed her bag and called to the front of the room. He spoke in harsh tones but Ling knew what he was telling her. The girl came back with a frown on her face and Ling simply gave her thumbs up.
Flashback over
(Gymnastics training facility in San Francisco California)
“ Uguu…can you please just hurry up Christie? I don’t know how much longer I can hold it.” Christie has been telling me to stay on my hands for so long now and I really have to go to the bathroom now. I can feel my inner thighs tingling telling me to just tumble down and run my ass to the bathroom but I can’t. I don’t want to let her down.
“Come on Ling Ling, girl you can do it. Just hold it a bit longer.” She’s giving me that look again. You know that girl if you don’t hold it I’m never going to let you hear this down. Christie is my roommate/ best friend for life. She was so nice to me when I first moved here to San Francisco.
“ Christie…I really have to pee…uguu ” I can hear it in my voice how I’m starting to lose my accent. Christie still has her’s. She’s from Brazil and to me her accent is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. Oh no I have a bad feeling about this. Before I could even think about tumbling out I heard it.
“ Fall! Fall!!” That voice…so obnoxious, why is he here? No. No. Just leave please just leave. That dyed red hair, those black jeans, and not to mention that egotistical aura.
“Hwoarang what the hell are you doing? Are you trying to make her mess up? Stay up there Ling I’ll handle him.”
I tumble out; I’m so sorry Christie I just can’t hold out any longer. Where’s the bathroom in this place. Is there even a bathroom in this place? Oh my goodness I don’t want to pee on myself….
“Uguu….”
I’m not going to make it. No Ling don’t scream no matter how bad it gets don’t scream.
“I HAVE TO PEE!!!!!!!” I screamed so loud that everything else in the entire gymnasium seemed to have stopped. Christie and Hwoarang stopped arguing, even the clock stopped ticking. How the hell did that happen? Anyway everything stopped except for my bladder. A warm liquid began streaming down my leg and I just stood there with a satisfied look on my face. Oh man I am so embarrassed right about now. Christie comes up behind me and just stares and the red haired Korean burst out laughing.
“You pissed on yourself. Oh my god talk about a baby.” He was pointing now but honestly I didn’t care he didn’t matter at this moment. What mattered was the rest of the gymnasts choosing this moment to come into the building. I don’t believe this shit. This is just my damn luck. What would Weilyn say if she saw me now? She’d probably laugh and call me a baby just like he’s doing. Before I knew it tears were leaving my eyes and Christie was ushering me out of the building and into her car.
“Ling Ling I’m so sorry. I should have let you stop you know? I just wanted you to perfect it. I was being selfish.” Why is Christie so nice to me? Why doesn’t she treat me like the rest of them? Even back home in China they called me goodie goodie or baby doll. Christie reached out and rubbed the back of my head and smiled.
“ Don’t worry okay? Tonight we can just sit around and pamper ourselves. No talking about our sport okay?”
I smile. Christie always knows how to make me feel better. No matter how low I am I can always count on her to cheer me up. She made a sharp left turn and pressed a button on the steering wheel triggering for the radio to come on.
“Christie can we listen to that song? You remember the one we heard last night that we danced to?”
“ Oh really? Okay girl let me put it on.”
Christie begins to sing, her voice is beautiful. Oh well I guess we might as well sing along.

This is the part I know. Let me do this and show Christie how cool I can be.
Now little Lisa is only 9 years old
She's trying to figure out why the world is so cold
Why she's all alone and ain't never met her family
Mama's always gone and she never met her daddy
Part of her is missing and nobody will listen
Mama is on drugs getting high up in the kitchen
Bringing home men at different hours of the night
Starting with some laughs -- usually ending in a fight
Sneaking in her room while her mama's knocked out
Trying to have his way and little Lisa says 'ouch'
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her
Lisa is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothing else to do but get some clothes and pack
She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back.
Before we can end the song Christie pulls up to our house. It’s nice I guess you can say that, actually Christie’s brother leased it for us and he pays all of our utilities. I’ve never met him but he sure was nice to do such a thing for us.
Running through the front door, I sped upstairs to my room. I have to shower and change I smell like piss. Pouting I take out all of my shower accessories and walk into the bathroom.
After about thirty minutes
Coming back downstairs I see Christie sitting on the couch staring at the T.V. Might as well sit next to her. I grabbed one of the magazines on the table but something tells me to put it down and I do. She’s staring at me. But why?
“Christie are you okay?”
“Ling…I’m just amazed at you. It’s like, how were you the best gymnast in China?” Her eyes linger on the ground for a minute and I shift uncomfortably in my seat.
“I don’t know…I just was.” I wonder if she’ll drop it now. I heard a while ago from some fellow competitors that Christie was jealous of me. Envious of what I can do. I brushed it off back then but what if it’s true?
“ Then what happened Ling? Why is it that I have to coach you the way that I do when you can just easily whip everybody’s ass in the sport? I mean even mine.” I know that she’s starting to get upset because she still looking at the ground.
“ Look I thought you said we weren’t going to talk about anything like this…” I hate it when people confront me with things. I don’t like it at all. I start to bite on my fingernail and Christie forces a smile on her face.
“Sit down on the floor Ling I want to do your hair.”
I sit down in between her legs and she takes my hair out of the two pigtails I usually keep it in. Taking a comb she lays it all over my head and then begins to part it. Placing tea oil along my scalp. I don’t know why she does this but she does it to my hair and her’s.
“ Christie? Why do you put that stuff in my hair?”
“So your scalp doesn’t get dry and you wont start flaking this way.” She parts my hair again and taking a pink scrunchie she puts most of my hair into a ponytail. I like the way it feels when she does my hair. It gives my scalp a tingly feeling probably because she’s so gentle with it.
“Ling Ling?”
“Yes?”
“I want you to wear your hair down tomorrow okay? You have to let it breathe some. That way it’ll be nice and silky.”
“Okay Christie. Auuu.” I hug her lightly. It’s because of Christie I have a new life here, it’s because of her I can have new identity, a new reason to belong.”
She wraps my hair up in her blue scarf and then smiles at me.
“Tomorrow I’ll do your make up as well. Okay?”
“Okay Christie.”
Night is coming and Christie heads upstairs leaving my alone with my thoughts. Tomorrow we start the real prep work. I guess I just better make sure that I empty my bladder before we start.
Okay so how was it. I'll update soon okay? I promise.
