The room where Akito grew up is painted black with ugly hate. It’s yet another Souma lie, because although envy is green, it is the darker psychologically. Still, although it’s her mother she hates, the ones she’s most jealous of are Shigure’s parents.

Akito should be grateful; after all, Yuki is kinder. Yuki is closest to God. Her father would have been happy, proud.

But despite the bonds of blood, Shigure can never be caught, never be tamed. And perhaps he would have been less elusive if his parents hadn’t been so stingy, and had sold him to Akito instead.
