Odessa,Texas is absolute crazy about highschool football. I really feel bad for the boys on the Permian Panthers football team. Everyone is always bothering them about winning state. Good thing people barley know that I'm Mike Winchell's twin sister. If they knew, they'd pester me as well. My mother is very ill,no she's not crazy, and needs someone to take care of her. Being the caring sister that I am, elected to be the one to do it. Mike, or as I call him Mikey, has football to worry about. I don't mind though, it helps me keep up with my studies. If I want to go to college I'll need a scholarship and I'm not athletic like Mikey. So with that said I dont have much of a social life and hardly anybody knows of me. Most of the people on Mikey's team save for Brian Chavez, Chris Comer, and Ivory Christian don't know who I am. I'm not going to lie I, like almost everygirl in Odessa, wish that I had the attention of a certain Don Billingsley. He is just to cute, but such a player.

So today is the first day of practice for the Panthers and for some strange reason Mikey was able to convince me to come with him. When we first arrive we are greeted with Brian, Boobie, and surprise surprise Don. Brian was the first to acknowledge me."Hey Maranda. I see that Winchell was finally able to drag you along" Brian chuckles at me. I smile back and nudge Mikey " Yea well who could say no to that brick wall of expression." For the first time Don looks at me and chuckels. "what, you don't like to watch your boyfriend play." Don asked me. At this Mikey, yes stonewall Mikey, laughs. Don got this confused look on his face wondering why Mike's laughing, and I look at him with a disgusted look on my face. Brian turns to Don and says " Dude, their twins." Don turns to Mikey and says " Why didn't you ever tell me you had such a hot sister?" At this I look down and blush for two reasons, 1) with my shoulder length brown/black hair, big brown eyes, petite frame(I'm skinny and am only 5 feet tall) I don't think I'm that hot and 2) DON BILLINGSLEY just said I was hot. "I never told you 'cause I didn't want my baby sister to become another notch on your belt." Mike said to Don. Don put his hand over his heart and said dramatically "I'm offended by how little you think of me." I giggle at them and Don winks at me. "Shouldn't you guys be getting ready for practice right now?" I asked them. They shrugged and started walking towards the locker room while I made my towards the stands.

I sat down towards the front and pulled my book, Interview With A Vampire, out of my bag and started reading. Soon the guys came out on the feild and more people started filling up the bleachers. Alot of them look offended that I was their and reading instead of watching the guys. It doesn't take long before Boobie's uncle L.V. started selling his nephew to as my book was getting good this man and significant other, I really don't think that she was his wife, came and sat next to me. He turned and looked at me and said "Why are you here reading instead of watching the boys?" "I'm really just here because my brother dragged me along." I cooley responded."Whose your brother?" he asked confused."Mike Winchell, I'm his twin Maranda." He looked surprised and said "I didn't know that he had any siblings. Oh I'm Charles Billingsley,Don's father, and this is my girlfriend Flippy." I smiled polietly, said hi, and turned back to my book.

As the day progressed Don kept dropping more and more balls and his father was just getting more and more angry at Don. Mikey passed the ball to Don and I held my breath hoping he would catch it. Unfortunatly he didn't and that must have been the final straw for Mr. Billingsley. The next thing I know is that he gets up and makes his way to the feild towards his son. I just stare confused as Flippy tried to stop him. He finally approached Don and started yelling at him while don tried to get him off the feild. When Don tried to turn away, his father grabed him and slamed him on the ground. That's when Brian got in between Don and his father. After a few more words were exchanged Mr. Billingsley turned around and walked back to his seat next to me. I got stiff when he sat down. The man just threw his son to the ground and is acting like nothing happened. I was appalled.

After that inccedent practice went on like normal. Afterwards I was sitting on the hood of the car waiting for Mikey. The first one out was Don. He walked over to Brian's car, which was next to mine, and sat on the hood like me. "So did you enjoy watching us today?" "To be honest I just read my book. But I did recieve a lovely tan." Don laughed and looked at me. " I saw my father sitting next to you. Did he say anything to you?" I was surprised, not by his question but by the concern and almost protective tone in his voice. I turned to him with a soft smile and said " He asked why I was reading and then was surprised when I told him I was Mikey's twin." He just stared off and nodded. " Um, does he do that often."I asked him timidly. Don's head immeadiatly snapped towards me."Oh gosh that was rude of me. Just ignore I asked that." I said quickley. Don looked down for a moment before looking at me. "No it's alright. And he does it mainly during football season. Ecspecially when he's drunk." I just looked at him and nodded softly. "Now answer my question." I looked at Don confused for a moment and said "Okay, what is it?" "Is your mom crazy like every one says?" "No she isn't. I wish people would stop thinking that. She's just sick and Mike and I take care of her." I smile and continue "We are her pride and joy. She tells us all the time how proud she is of us. Of Mikey playing football and my grades." Don smiles at me and I smile back. "If you ever need some where to go, you are always welcome to my house." I tell Don. "Thanks. I'll probably take you up on your offer." Just then Mikey and Brian walk out of the locker room talking. When they get to us Mikey tells me were going out to get burgers. I agree and get in the car, the whole time thinking did Don and I just have a moment. Little did I know Don was sitting in Brian's car with a small smile thinking to himself I could really fall for this girl.
