Krya walked backstage, the rush of singing in front of all those people still hanging in the air around her. Krya breathed out a deep sigh of excitement as the drummer of our band, Jess, turned her around and pulled her into a quick hug. He then let go but left his hands on her shoulders; he was beaming.

“Can you believe it!? Our first concert! That was incredible.” He said and shook her.

“Hey! Hey! Hands off.” Sean yelled as he came and kissed her. When he pulled away they both looked at Jess as he smirked at the both of them.

“What?” Krya asked.

“How cute. After our bands huge accomplishment, still all you two can think about is each other.” He said as he rolled his eyes and walked away to find his girlfriend, and their bass player, Amber.

“Hey you know what. We should celebrate just you and me. How about we go over to that new Italian restaurant?” Sean asked as they both started to help pack up the amps and other equipment.

“Do I look like the type of girl who wants to go to some fancy restaurant? Come on why don’t we just go to Nick’s brother’s club like we always do?” Kyra said and shifted the million pound piece of plastic into its case.

“Because he doesn’t want to propose to you in a place where you to always go. He wants it to be special. Oh, sorry did I just say that out loud. ” She heard Amber yell from the other side of the stage and she quickly turned her attention back to Sean and fixed her eyes on him.

“What?” She asked with her eyes wide and heart beating a mile a minute.

“Well…..I was going to ask you tonight, but…” Sean said then bent down on one knee and pulled out a small black box.

“Kyra Hart, will you marry me?” He asked and opened the box to reveal a single silver ring with a small diamond in the center.

Krya was shocked. For the first time in her entire life, everything seemed to click into place. She had no idea what was to come but she didn’t care.

“Yes. Yes!” She yelled. He stood up and she jumped into his arms.

“Well isn’t that so nice.” Amber said sarcastically.

“Krya! Stop spending time with Amber she’s starting to act just like you. Come on let’s go.” Jess said in mock anger.

Sean and Kyra just laughed as they watched the two, they were so perfect together.

“Well come on. Let’s get packing we’ve got to get to our next gig in Houston.” Said Sean.

“Houston?” Krya asked almost silently.

This was about to get very interesting.

“Jake turn that TV off and help Cheyenne put up the streamers.” Reba yelled.

“Why can’t Van do it? Isn’t it his daughter’s birthday? Or even dad. Where are they anyway?” Jake said as he reluctantly got up on the ladder to hang the other side of the pastel blue streamers.

“They’re out with the kids and Barbra Jean. Henry and Barbra Jean can’t hear about this because neither of them can keep secrets for their live. Now I’m going to finish making the cake, don’t turn that TV back on!”

“Whatever.” said Jake and turned MTV off. “At least Elizabeth doesn’t have to watch the Wiggles when she’s nine like I had too. I still can’t believe Krya did that to me.”

“Jake!” said Cheyenne. “Today is a really important day for my daughter. Don’t mess it up by bringing that up again. It’s very rare that mom has a good day where she isn’t reminded of the fact that her daughter ran off just because she cared about some band more than her family.”

“Sorry.” Jake said quickly. He didn’t need his mother in that mood again. He was the only one that still lived here

“Hey what’s wrong? You’ve been pretty quiet ever since we crossed the state line. What’s going on?” Sean asked Krya as they both went into their trailer. They were finally in Houston, and that fact was slowly getting at her.

“Nothing. It’s just ….” She started and sat down on our couch that was connected to the wall of our car/house.

“Just what?” Sean asked earnestly and sat down next to her and put his arm around her. She laid my head on his shoulder and started to talk.

“It has been three years since I have been here. And the last time I was here I was in that old band with Stitch and Nick. Now they do our lights and sound. It just that I’m getting married and……”She trailed off.

“And what? Is something wrong? Do you not want to get married? Did I do something?” Sean asked frightened.

“No, no, it’s nothing like that. It’s just that no one in my family knows I’m getting married. It just seems so cruel to have them find out from a magazine or TV or something.”

“Well, we are in Houston. You did say they lived here. Why don’t you just visit them or something? Hey, I’ll even go with you.” He asked and looked at her. She knew he was trying to see if she was going to flip out on him or actually consider what he was saying.

“Yea, you’re right. Maybe I should give them a call. You know it’s a good thing you already know all about them, I mean it could take forever to explain my family.” Krya said jokingly.

“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”

“I hope so.” Kyra said and got up to go outside and use her cell phone.

“See you later guys.” Reba said to Brock, Barbra Jean, and Henry as they left. As soon as she closed the door and sat down on the old flower patterned couch, the phone in the kitchen rang.

“Jake! Get that will you?” She yelled as she slouched down into the couch and put her hand on her forehead.

“Sure.” He said and picked up the phone.

“Hello?” he asked into the cold plastic receiver.

“Jake? Hey, this is Kyra. Is mom there?” Jake could hear Kyra speak quietly into the phone. It had been so long since he had heard the voice of his sister.

“Kyra!?” He yelled. His mother heard him from the living room and jumped up from where she was sitting on the couch.

“Kyra is on the phone?” She asked and quickly ran into the kitchen and stole the phone from her son.

“Kyra is that you?” She quickly breathed into the phone. “Honey is everything alright? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine mom. Actually, I’m in town. I was wondering if it would be okay for a visit. You could even meet my boyfriend, Sean.” She said and you could tell she was smiling by the sound of her voice.

“Of course it would be fine. We could even have your father and Barbra Jean over.” Reba said excitedly, her daughter was finally coming home.

“Mom….” Kyra started.

“What it is honey?”

“I love you.” She said

“I love you too. So how does tomorrow sound? Around lunch?” Reba asked

“Sounds great mom, see you tomorrow then.” Krya said and then the line went dead.

Kyra put her cell phone back in her pocket and walked back inside the trailer. When she got inside she saw Sean getting himself a coke and then sit back down at the couch.

“So….How did the call go?” He asked as he got adjusted on the worn out uncomfortable couch.

“Surprisingly well, we have a visit scheduled for tomorrow. That is if you still want to come with me?” She questioned and sat down next to him.

“Of course.” He said and took a big sip of his soda.

It was going to be a very interesting visit.
