It wasn’t the fact that she was hostage that bothered her; no it wasn’t that at all. If anything she was receiving far better care than she provided herself with. Perhaps, it was the idea of being held hostage and the combination that he was behind the act.Sakura had yet to understand why he, out of all people, would do such a thing, and to her. He still avoided an explanation as to why this happened. Every time she brought it up he would divert her attention elsewhere. In truth, being held captive wouldn’t be anyone’s dream, but in her heart it was alright, for all the time she spent with him and the fact that it was him made it alright.

Sakura fidgeted restlessly in her chair. Something was off, she could sense it. It was a rich scent, masculine. Blood. It seemed to ooze out of someone’s wound endlessly. Her senses tingled, the blood calling out to her. For some odd reason she wanted to trail it, get a sample of it, let her lips touch at the warm skin until it felt cold against her lips.
It was so odd because it wasn’t in her nature to crave for it. At least, she hadn’t made it her nature. She hadn’t allowed her human half to crave for such things. Blood and death didn’t sit so well with her human qualities. No matter, her other half, her human nature overpowered the Vampire within her.
But it wasn’t like she had a greater will as human than as Vampire. In fact, she didn’t have any will as a Vampire to actually do as those of her kind.
The blood in itself gave her the opposite feeling that a half crazed Vampire felt. Instead of feeling that undeniable calling from the source of it, she felt the revolt deep in her bones. The scent of it didn’t make her knees weak, mouth water or her mind to cloud with the hazy lust to sink her fangs into the holder of such sweet numbness. Instead, it made her quake in disgust; made it uncomfortable to be in her skin. Her mouth always went bitter at the scent of it, and her mind, instead of going under that hazy lust, it underwent into a frenzy state of panic.
It was very odd in her case being that she was of half human-half vampire. Others of her nature weren’t against drinking blood, or therefore, the Vampire within them didn’t protest at the thought of drinking to their bone’s content.
But then, they were Halves so it meant that they could go without the substance. Food was always a replacement, unlike the Pure descendants who didn’t have much of an option.
Sakura knew that for a Pure Vampire it took greater control power to not jump at the heady scent of blood. And that to them—unlike her—it meant life… a continuation of their existence.
Though, she couldn’t know too much about it. Never in her life had she gained the opportunity to follow in what her “culture” calls living the true life of a vampire.
She neither hunted nor used the power that was passed down as a descendant of a special blood line to continue living amongst others.
Blood to her was an unknown territory. She couldn’t understand why her companions liked to drink from it so fondly. But perhaps that was because she had yet to sample anyone’s blood. Maybe, if she were capable of drinking anyone’s blood she’d have a better understanding.
That seemed impossible as well. Part of it was that regardless of the Vampire that resided within her, she was human. Everything she did was human. She hadn’t grasped the meaning of being a Vampire because she didn’t practice anything in their nature. The powers within her were awakened against her will, and to her will she didn’t refuge in it. A human had no powers, or at least, a supernatural power like her kind does. At the moment that was beside the point. Truth was that even if she wanted to lean towards her human half and still feed like other halves of her kind, she wasn’t able to. The Vampire within her seemed so repulsed with the whole concept of it that it wouldn’t make an attempt to hunger for it— which worked best to Sakura’s preferences. She held morals, and the fact that she was of a kind whom needed blood to survive, didn’t qualm the fact that they took innocent lives. That alone really rattled her.
One thing that she knew was that a new born Vampire— not specifically one that has been made, but one that has awakened within— has no control over its first taste of blood. Those first times are always the worst. Though, it came at worst length for a Half descendant than of a Pure descent. The Pure ones seem to hone better at controlling their first times. For them, there isn’t an internal split that separates human against Vampire.
Sakura shook her head once, wishing the thought to vanish. This was really getting out of hand. The wounded one had to be of strong power in order to make her want to dip the tip of her tongue into that lulling scent.
Mentally she shook her head again. ‘No, no, even if it were of great power it shouldn’t make me want it, instead it should make my repulsion greater.’
For some reason, unlike before, her nose was able to smell blood whenever it spilled. She had never been capable to catch the whiff of it in the air before, not until these last two months. And this one awoke everything sexual within her. To her great annoyance things had never been as so. Her mind kept working out the possibility of how good it would feel to sink her fangs into the beating pulse of Sasuke’s neck. Their sweat slicked body rubbing against one another as she moved atop of him, his arms wrapped tight around her.
Sakura cursed herself.
Why was she thinking of the man at the moment? She knew it wouldn’t be wise to sit through class aroused, when others would smell it.
He wasn’t the one injured, or therefore bleeding at the moment. To her knowledge, he wasn’t hurt. And it was impossible for him to sit in class, bleeding him self out when he would’ve healed promptly.
Sakura knew of his healing powers. She had them too, but not at the great expense Sasuke did. As a Pure, he didn’t have to rely on the darkness nor the moon to help heal him self. He was a Pure after all.
Sakura didn’t mind fantasizing about the man— he’d help her out with the fantasies later on— it wasn’t anything new, but why when blood seemed to leak like a broken faucet. To her knowledge, she’d kept her fantasies in the safety of her room. Sasuke realized some when they were together. Alone.
Ever since Sasuke moved in with her close to three months ago, he has been the triggering inspiration to fulfilling her desires.
Why was she paying more attention to her over reactive imagination anyways? Something greater was of worry here. Her craving for that blood, whose ever blood it was.
Sakura would have to arrange to meet with Lady Tsunade again.
When it was thought that there were some abnormalities with her Vampire, a sickness— perhaps a mutation with her Vampire like her father had disgustedly proclaimed— Sakura had to seek Lady Tsunade’s help when it started to act up about two months ago. “Late Bloomer,” was what Tsunade called it. It equated to how hormones started to awaken during a human’s teen life. But in a Vampire, after it has fully awakened the hormonal behaviour of blood and Vimpyre activity bloomed one or two months after it’s awakening. It all depended on the family line. In Sakura’s case, her Vampire awakened on her sixth birthday. Meaning she was an extreme late bloomer because with her birthday approaching, it would be twelve years since.
Thinking about this was starting to make her a bit queasy. Hopefully that was her Vampire acting like itself again. Blood wasn’t her thing, really it wasn’t.
“Sakura?”
The involuntary tremble that followed felt so… so good.
That was Sasuke’s voice whispering behind her.
Why was it that his voice had a way of sounding like velvet chocolate? Both dark and silky rich...
If anyone knew her best they’d know that when it came to chocolate she couldn’t get enough of it. If things had worked accordingly with her Vampire there would only be two substances to keep her living: chocolate for her human and blood for her Vampire.
She didn’t trust her voice enough that she peered back at him. Eyebrows raised in her form of asking ‘what?’
He shook his head, his gaze shifting over to Ino who sat beside her. It took her a full one minute to look away from him and understand it was Ino who wanted her attention.
When she turned to the blonde who sat beside her the first things spewing out of her mouth were words of concern.
“Sakura are you alright? You weren’t responding just now. Do you have a fever,”
Ino touched at her forehead and shook her head when it wasn’t that. “Something bothering you?”
She wasn’t going to sit here and tell her of the blood issue consuming most of her brain cells. Knowing Ino she would have a bigger panic attack than she’d grown accustomed to whenever her Vampire started to act up. Besides, Sasuke’s eyes were watching her.
And he hated Halves.
So either, she’d have to endure the handsome young man’s remark on Halves, or have his eyes continue to rove over her, trying to gauge what just transpired.
She settled for the latter. She really did like his attention on her.
“What do you mean?”
“You just zoned out of our discussion…”
Right. She remembered now. Ino and she were talking about Kiba’s party this coming Friday.
“…And you’re in Vampire mode sweetie.”
“Eh?” Sakura tilted her head in wonder.
“Vampire mode? I don’t have one.”
“You do now.” Ino piped, which sounded like she was amazed and worried at the same time.
“Oh mother…” Sakura felt her self pale; felt the heaviness of Ino’s words as her mind ran circles in her head before she collapsed into darkness.
ఇఇఇఇఇఇ
Sakura groaned. Her head felt as if a ton of bricks had resided there for a while. Her whole body felt stiff and heavy, and just one crack of her eye had her shutting them again. The bright light really bothered her eyes.
"Sakura?" It was Sasuke’s voice and it came from atop of her.
She moaned in response.
“Are you feeling better?”
“I think so.” She really didn’t know what feeling better really was. If the pounding in her head wasn’t supposed to be happening then it was a no, but she didn’t like people worrying over her, not even if it was Sasuke. Matter a fact, especially since it was Sasuke.
“How long have I been out?” She was able to remember passing out. The stiffness under her was the nurse’s medical bed. How she hated it.
Her bed was nice and warm, big and none enclosing. As of now, she felt restricted at her sides. Her sheets were of silk and not out of some starch white material that scratched at her skin. And when she lay on her bed she felt comfortable, not like now. But that was beside the point. The school bed meant that she was in school and that somewhere down the hall people were talking about what happened.
“Approximately forty minutes.”
Sakura sighed.
If only forty minutes had gone by it meant that it was close to fourth period or something like that. She had sat during second period long enough before things happened.
“Do you think Tsunade will let me stay here even if I tell her I’m feeling well?”
“Maybe.” The shrug in his voice was almost visible. With the slight shift of the bed it confirmed that one of his lean shoulders had shrugged.
Carefully she opened her eyes to watch Sin and Salvation staring down at her. Sin because he had that sinful look about him. She knew he meant no good to a women’s heart, so of course he was Sin— yet she still took her chances with him and Salvation because he saved her eyes from those unsightly.
“You brought me here?”
“Why else would I be here?”
‘You wanted to see me.’
He smirked. “What, did you think I was desperate to see you?”
“Maybe,” she said in a sing-song voice taking that flirty tone with him.
His smirk only broadened a bit. Sasuke— or Mr. Smexy like she dubbed him— was very attractive. Silky black hair framed a chiseled, mysterious face with black slashes for eyebrows. His face either froze women dead in their tracks or made them melt like sweet honey at his feet. Those sensual lips of his always brought to mind the thing he’d done to her. In the dark. He was broad-shouldered and leanly muscled. His skin tone leaned more to a white creamy color than creamy at all.
He was sex on legs and for her, his mouth and eyes always brought her to the edge. Long dark lashes adorned his dark charcoal gaze. They seemed cold more than half of the time, but when they smoldered just for her they drove her crazy. And his mouth, oh hell, like she said, they’ve done things to her. Images instantly fluttered through her mind—skin moving on skin, limbs entangled, breath caressing breath, mouths and tongues working together as he swallowed her cries of pleasure.
How many times had she drowned in his pleasure for the last three months?
Far too many to count.
Looping her hands around his neck she brought him down on her. Her lips feathered across his until she gave into the pressure of his. He kissed her hard, like he had the habit of doing, until his tongue sought entrance into her mouth. It delved into her, making her tremble when the tip of his tongue teased at the roof of her mouth. His tongue moved erotically against hers. Sakura couldn’t help but whimper at the intensity of the kiss. She really loved the way those sensual lips of his felt against her, all of her.
She only wanted to drag him atop of her; his strong body covering her small yielding one. That delicious ache pressed hard in-between her things and she wanted to do nothing more than wrap her legs around his waist and rock against him.
Her fingers sank against his scalp, massaging the silky texture of his hair, always styled in that eye catching disarray.
He tore another moan from her when one of his hands raked up her arm, moving to cup her breast.
If it were up to them, they’d only pull apart long enough to shed articles of clothing. But when Sasuke pulled away with a groan it was because they were in school.
“What the hell was that?” He leaned foreheads against her, asking about earlier today.
“No clue.” She shouldn’t have done that. It was hard to breathe and her body started to ache for him. “Where’s Tsunade?”
“She needed to attend something so she asked me to stay with you until you awoke. Since you’ve done that I guess it’s safe to leave.”
“Always so cold.”
Sasuke slanted his mouth over hers one last time. And this time his lips slid over hers slowly.
He nipped at her bottom lip, dragging it between his teeth before angling his mouth over hers his tongue delving into hers once again. When he pulled away he simply smirked down on her.
When she had started to shift earlier, he’d gone over to her, hovering to check if anything was wrong. But she had only been stirring from unconsciousness.
He sat back in the chair beside her bed, resuming his watch over her like he did while she was unconscious.
Sakura sat up, cursing a blue streak under her breath. It hadn’t been wise to sit up so quickly when her head pounded vigorously. Why did it feel like she’d spent the night at a party wasting herself to alcohol? If anything, Kiba’s party wasn’t until Friday.
Grabbing her head she looked over at Sasuke. He watched her intently. She then glanced around the room. Four other beds stretched out beside her, the separating curtains pulled against the wall since no one was in need of privacy other than her.
At the end of the last bed, a few feet away stood the entrance door. Half of that wall was covered in glass window that reached midsection of it. The hallway stood empty.
Tsunade’s desk in front of her over flowed with files of paper; manila folders peeking every which way.
“I need a mirror. Help me up.”
“As soon as you fainted you went back to normal.”
Darn it! How was she to know if Ino’s words were true? No, that wasn’t it. Ino wouldn’t joke like that.
How was she to know what her Vampire form looked like?
Man, was her Vampire half a screwed up mess.
“Only you and Ino saw me right?”
“To my knowing…yes,” she watched him shrug.
Of course he would seem relaxed when it wasn’t his problem he needed to worry about.
She needed to pace. Sasuke’s gaze was heating her up, and it wasn’t helping her already aroused case. The whole situation of why she was in Tsunade’s clinic made her nervous. It was obvious something was wrong with her and her Vampire. Mostly her Vampire, she thought.
She sat there for a while, staring into her hands until she felt mobile enough. Sasuke didn’t stop her when she moved to walk over to the window.
It was still snowing in early March. As pretty as it looked Sakura wished it went away. She wished for the sun to shine real bright and soak up the wet falling substance. She preferred it best when it was bright and hot. Summer, she couldn’t wait for it.
Ironic.
As a Vampire she should’ve preferred a season like winter or fall; where the sun didn’t shine as brightly. But it had been close to two millenniums since the first Vampire, and well, they had grown immune to the sun. Only new born were shielded away from it until their skin developed a defence system against turning to ash. But then, Half descendents were the ones to warm up to the sun. On a Pure it didn’t matter at all. Their skin throughout millenniums had remained as cold as marble. Sasuke always felt cold.
The clinic encompassed the north wall, the one overlooking the school entrance gate.
Jinchūriki Private High School.
The trees were scarce of leaves.
This was her last year. And Sakura couldn’t wait until she moved away from this blasted environment. She was tired of the arrogant stupid creatures that were her kind. Whoever thought of training a bunch of Vampires together hadn’t been a smart one.
Yes, Vampires worked together. But it wasn’t wise to put strong blood lines together for more time than required. It was that dominant arrogance of theirs that spoiled it for the lesser kind. And well, THEY were the lesser kind. To the Pure— those stupid arrogant bastards— Halves were far more inferior to humans.
Sakura couldn’t see how. As halves they were obviously the middle kind.
Though, that wasn’t the true problem. Sure, most Pure, like Halves couldn’t stand being in the same room. But they had other demons running around. There was a fox; the only one of his kind. And then there were werewolves as well. Of course, most of them didn’t mind any of that. They had grown to accept each other over centuries of feuding. It was the other half; the ones who didn’t share a good view about the “lesser” kind that turned into a problem.
Sakura had grown to identify those individuals and keep away from them. She really didn’t need the aggression between them to scale her walls. Interesting enough, she had found herself in a strange bunch.
The two Hyuuga’s she knew were of Pure descent— though not holding any grudges. At least, the young ones of that generation didn’t have any. Hinata of course, was the timid one of the two; the sweet innocent one. Neji resembled a lot of Sasuke. They were both brooding men, keeping mostly to themselves. But then again, their appearances were opposites.
The five wolves she spent time with were Kiba, Tenten, Shikamaru, Ino, and Chouji. The wolf Tenten and Neji were an obvious item, contrary to the wolf-vampire hate that persisted between both kinds. Shikamaru, being a wolf thought that it was too much to handle the temperament that came with Ino, so they have always been an ongoing of going couple— off going at the moment. Naruto was the brightest bounciest fox amongst them. He, like Kiba, kept things lively between them.
Sai was a half like her, but rumours had it she was the only human in the school. Of course, it would make her vulnerable to some. But rumours weren’t accurate and those who wanted to chase after her chose to not risk their lives. Her friends would literally rip their throat out if they even did as much as thought of it. To Sakura, the rumour sounded better than word of her sick Vampire.
Sasuke, he was the third Pure of the group. Unlike Hinata and Neji, he held a grudge against Halves. Sai and he couldn’t be alone in a room. Then again, Sai couldn’t be left alone with any one. It took a lot of will power to not stake the guy for his weird comments.
But Sakura loved them all. They had come to her when she needed someone the most and she was thankful that she didn’t have one shoulder to cry on, instead she had ten strong people who stood beside her.
Though, as much as Sasuke hated Halves, he seemed to have made an exception for her. When it came to her, he never cared for her other half so he didn’t know of her sickly Vampire.
Which wasn’t so sick anymore?
Sakura sighed.
She only wanted to know what was wrong with her.
As if on cue, Tsunade entered the room. If only she’d quit her nagging.
“You shouldn’t be up Sakura. We still don’t know what’s wrong with you.”
“I’m alright now, though I think I’ll need something for my headache.” She smothered her hands over her pleated skirt and snuck a look over at Sasuke. He still looked at her.
“Just give me a minute.” With her hands Tsunade motioned for her to go over to her bed. Carefully, she worked her way onto the bed, purposely flashing Sasuke the underwear she wore underneath. When she was seated she avoided his gaze, peering over at Tsunade who fumbled for something under the mess of paper.
“What happened to Shizune?”
That was her assistance. Now that Sakura realized said women hadn’t been in the room.
“Has the day off.”
“Oh.” 'Wonder how that happened.'
Again she looked over at Sasuke, this time asking, “What?”
He only quirked an eyebrow slowly and sensually licking his bottom lip.
He wasn’t playing fair… And neither had she.
“Sasuke told me a bit of what happened. He’s not too sure since Ino’s the one who really knows and you of course.” Tsunade crossed her arms over that huge chest of hers. Sakura snickered. As much as Naruto called her an old hag, she’d caught him staring at her breasts a few times, though he wasn’t the only one looking at the school nurse like that. Kiba had done it too, and a few other guys.
Sakura looked over at Sasuke, wondering if he’d looked at Tsunade the same way. But then, she supposed not. He seemed too caught up staring at her.
“Yeah,”
“Mind telling me what happened this time around.”
“Uhm…” Sakura made an unsure face.
“Isn’t he your boyfriend Sakura? It would be best he knows too just in case something like this happens again.”
Sakura tested the word, unknowingly doing it out loud. “Again?”
“Of course ‘again’,”
“No way,” If she could back away without making a fool out of her self she would.
Tsunade sighed. “Listen child. I know you don’t want that to happen, but eventually it will. There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re Vampire other than it being a late bloomer.”
“Late bloomer?” Sasuke asked.
“Yes, her change happened at six, but she didn’t undergo the norms of an awakened Vampire. It seems those things are happening now.”
Sasuke looked from Tsunade to Sakura. His inquiring was evident on his face.
‘I don’t know.’ Was all she gave him and he turned to Tsunade again.
“As you know, Halves are different from us when it comes to their Vampires. As an entity, we are the Vampire. To them, the Vampire is a dormant sleeper that only comes into play at the Halves request for change.”
Sasuke nodded. He knew that. As he knew it was some tricky work since it involved major control. If the Vampire with a half had more will power than the human it would overpower, which never turned out right in the end.
“Each line has a certain time for the offspring to undergo the change. It’s a coding in their DNA basically.”
Yes, since Halves are only scientific creations from our forms. At least these halves are. Our halves are slaves to us. Not walkers.
“In Sakura’s line of birth, each child experiences the change at the age of four. In her case she was two years behind. Her father, he more or less forced the vampire out of her.” Sasuke looked over at Sakura during the ensuing pause.
“If the Vampire shows no signs of awakening during its scheduled time, it means it won’t awaken; something very very rare. In Sakura’s case, when it was forced into existence it only did that, existed…”
Sasuke interrupted her. “So it awoke without its power.”
“Exactly. Her father was able to detect it, just under the surface of her skin. The change never happened, but his Vampire, as its sire, knew her Vampire existed. It seems that the Vampire is starting to manifest its true form now.”
“Aye,”
“When her change never occurred it was proclaimed her Vampire wasn’t of normal status, sickly since it wouldn’t show it self.”
Sasuke nodded. “I understand.”
After a moment of silence Tsunade turned to Sakura. “Will you tell us then?” She pulled out a chair and sat in it, expectantly waiting to hear what Sakura knew.
“I don’t know what happened. There was blood; I really don’t know whose. It just bleeds, and I was able to smell it. I—”
Sakura shook her head. She took a shuddering breath. “I wanted that blood.”
However small she whispered those words it didn’t go unnoticed to the ears of Sasuke and Tsunade.
“You mean…?”
She looked over at Tsunade, nodding her head. She then looked over at Sasuke and she felt her cheeks burn. It was best she omitted to her fantasies of him.
“I can’t explain it but the person shouldn’t have been bleeding like they did. I mean, it should’ve healed. And no one voiced about it.”
Tsunade still sat stunned in her chair. “Could’ve been internal bleeding Sakura. Perhaps, a female…”
Sakura shook her head. “Sexually.”
Well, that's also different because the Vampire within coveted another’s feeling depending on the humans gender preferences. To Sakura it was male. That male’s blood called to her in a sexual way.
“Well,” Tsunade worked it over in her head. “It could’ve still been internal bleeding, and he’s yet to heal from a wound of some sort.”
Sakura shrugged. "Perhaps."
“What seems to be so wrong with all of this? Other than her being a late bloomer, this seems normal.”
“No Sasuke. I guess I didn’t explain the sickly part. Her—”
Sakura took over Tsunade’s speech. “At the thought of blood my Vampire feels somewhat threatened. It doesn’t handle it well. Blood makes me sick to the bone. I simply can’t digest blood, literally.”
Both his eyebrows shoot up. “I thought that when you said you didn’t drink was because you chose not too. I didn’t know it was your Vampire that didn’t want it.”
Sakura only stared at him.
“Is that possible?”
Sasuke looked over at Tsunade. He knew that as a Pure it wasn’t required for a daily dosage of blood to live to the next day. But not having any at all? Even if it weren’t human, blood was needed.
“That’s why her Vampire is “sickly”. In my opinion, it’s a mutated kind. Sakura chose to not hone her powers and so she doesn’t use them. But there were spark of it that first year of her turn. Her father coached her, but Sakura wasn’t cooperating with him that he let it slip away. I can sense it within her still.” Tsunade paused. “I’m not too sure, never having seen a case like this. But I think the Vampire forms a part of Sakura as one, like we are. We’re simply Vampires; Dead and Reborn. She isn’t. And the fact that her powers are there when the change never happened means that the Vampire chose to merge itself to her human half without undergoing it’s transformation.”
Sakura had heard of Tsunade’s explanation before but Sasuke hadn’t. She watched his face go from one of confusion to one of almost understanding.
“So basically her Vampire is fading but its power remains with her, or that’s how her offspring would be.”
No, that hadn’t been what Tsunade meant, but that made sense, if it were evolution that’s how it would be.
She neither corrected him nor explained any further.
When she looked over at Sakura she asked, “Did the blood trigger the change?”
“Seems so,”
Tsunade wiped a hand over her face. “Well then, my explanation won’t work now that your Vampire has manifested itself. And what Sasuke says won’t do either, not now.” She let out a heavy sigh. “I’m sorry Sakura. I really don’t know what’s going on in your body with that Vampire of yours but it seems it has chosen to follow its own morphing path. It’s hard for me to tell you how things are for you.”
Sakura sighed. “I guess I’m not sickly then.” She said dejectedly.
“Why so disappointed?”
“I don’t like the whole killing process of it.”
“You don’t have to kill.” Sasuke corrected.
“For the first few times I risk that chance. I risk it every time I attempt to feed that way. We’re not like you.” Sakura reminded.
Sasuke stared at her a few seconds, “now what?”
“Well, we don’t know another way in which a Vampire should act, so… observe how things happen? I’ll need you to stay close to her, you or any one of her preference… just in case her Vampire shows signs of harm.”
Sasuke nodded. Turning to Sakura he asked, “Any objections with me?”
“No.” Sakura shook her head. “Just one request: take me home.”
Sasuke looked over at Tsunade. “Would that be okay?”
“Yes of course. If anything happens in which you can’t control her Vampire you give me a call.”
Sasuke nodded his head. He stood, expecting Sakura to stand with him. Instead she grinned up at him.
“Carry me?”
When he rolled his eyes she couldn’t help the bubbling laughter.
to be continued...
