Chaos Combination: Opposing Forces
Inspired by Cronosonic's Chaos Combination fanfiction. In this fanfiction I will be bringing back Corporal Adrian Shepherd from Half-Life: Opposing Force, hence the title name. Why do I want to bring back Shepherd you may ask? Well I consider him to be my favorite Half-Life character. Plus Shepherd is a Military man, and throughout the Half-Life saga it is constant combat between Rebels, Combine, Zombies and Aliens. Plus the new villans that appear thanks to the blending of dimensions. So without further ado I introduce this small part of Cronosonic's wonderful universe.
The constant thrum of the Osprey's engines had been on for more than a decade and it was really starting to get on Adrian's nerves. Ever since the mysterious suited man had left, he had been bored out of his mind. He already tried throwing himself off the transport but always found himself back in this damn Osprey. If he was of a lesser caliber he would have gone insane long ago, but Shepherd was a military man; trained to keep calm and cool in the face of captivity. They had trained him to repeat a series of phrases and to think of past memories.
The harsh memories of the Black Mesa incident were all he thought about during his silent captivity. Every detail scrutinized and every horror relived. He remembered when his Osprey went down from the alien's warship. Remembered the horror of seeing his teammates dead all around him while the scientist's tried to revive them. Remembered the headcrabs and how they turned into abominations unto the world. The anger at Freeman for killing so many of his friends. The frustration he felt as the man impeded and aided him at every turn. Then after disarming the bomb it blew up anyway, taking with it all his friends and compatriots still trapped in that godforsaken place.
A sudden hissing sound caught his attention. Slowly he turned to see the cause of all his misfortune. The pale, snake like man gave him an evil smile.
"Corporal Ssshephard. How nice to ssee you again" he said non-chalantly. Shepherd's eyes narrowed in suspicion at the suited man. He balled up his fists and clenched his teeth. He could feel his face flush with heat. Adrian's heartrate became faster and he tensed up. Like nails on a chalkboard, this man was unbearable to him. It seemed to Shephard that this man was the root of all evil, maybe even a demon.
"Come now Corporal Sssheaphard. You don't really think that about me do you?" he asked with an errie calmness in his voice.
Adrian's fists shook with anger and he gave the man a look of searing hatred that would scare the most disciplined of Soldiers.
"Get out of my head now." he said severly pissed off.
The man mearly smiled at Shephard's tone of voice.
"Mr. Shephard, you may not know it but my employers have decided to release you from this spacious accomidation. You will be free to walk without restrictions."
"Really? What's the catch you disgusting excuse for a human being?" Shephard taunted.
The man's face turned into a scowl when he heard the insult. Shephard's smirk only lasted a few seconds before he was flung into the wall. He groaned as he felt something crack behind him. Judging from the pain around his midsection he guessed it was probably a rib, make that two ribs.
The snake like man smiled at Adrian's pain. He straightened his tie and approached him as Shephard's vision faded.
"You had better get going Corporal Shephard. You don't want to miss out on all the fun do you?" he asked in his deceptivley calm voice.
FLASH
Adrian found himself in a long corridor in what appeared to be a mansion. The peeling wallpaper made it clear that no one bothered to keep up with mantinance. A man in a dark green vest and white shirt fired blindly into the darkness. Adrian saw him turn around in suprise before he was blinded again.
FLASH
Shephard then found himself in a castle overlooking a battlement. A blond haired man raised a sword and shield to defend himself from the attacking forces. His right palm was shining with a triangular symbol. As Adrian looked on he saw an arrow heading straight for him.
FLASH
Now Adrian was in a ship of some sort. He looked out the window to see stars flying past. A hulking seven foot tall armored man walked into the room carrying an assault rifle. The man's orange visor obscured his face as he approached a man in military uniform.
"What's the situation Johnson?" he asked the African American man. The man known as Johnson turned towards the figure and scowled.
"Bout damn time you showed up Master Chief!! The Covenant have us pinned down and outgunned!! We need you to take out those guns dammit!!"
Master Chief turned towards Adrian. "I need a weapon." he said before Adrian dissapered again.
FLASH
Shephard now found himself inside of a subway of some sort. Things of some sort crawled towards him with their arms outstretched. Their gray skin was highlighted by the white eyes. That look he new well, hunger and rage. Flexing his fists he got into his combat stance. His eyes wandered from the creatures to a man and woman who ran down the steps.
The woman was dressed in a tight fitting uniform and sported a spiky blond haircut. Her eyes were a dark crimson color and she held an M4 sub-machine gun in her hands. The man was dressed in red jacket and hat. He had golden sunglasses that reflected the dim lighting of the subway tunnel. In his hands he wielded two custom Jackal pistols.
"Remember police girl, aim for the head or the chest. That is the ghouls weakpoint. It shouldn't be too hard for a nosferatu such as yourself." he said in a mocking tone.
Her eyes narrowed as she aimed for the creatures. "Yes Master." she said in an obidiant tone.
Adrian saw them both turn to him in suprise before he was whisked away yet again.
FLASH
Adrian looked to find a ruined city lay around him. He could hear the distinct firing of machine guns and artillery in the distance. However he could not walk outside due to the large amount of debris blocking his way. Turning around he saw the suited man walk into the hallway and out of sight. Frowning to himself, Adrian followed him and turned a corner. The man wasn't there, however something else was. A large vent led to an airduct and beyond that he could see light.
Looking around to see if anything could be of use he saw a pipe wrench laying there almost begging to be picked up. Rolling his eyes Shephard picked up the wrench and pryed the vent open. Silently accepting his fate Shephard climbed through the vent and into the darkness of the air ducts.
Albert Wesker sat in his chair tapping his fingers on the armrest. As usual a pair of sunglasses masked his yellow eyes from the light. He watched the fighting in City 17 thanks to an Umbrella sattilite high in orbit. The things called Striders were battling the GUN mechs in the streets while soldiers ran for cover.
The units called Hunters ran amok in the battle torn city, their appearence not unlike the Striders. Combine troops battled with rebel and international forces. A vehicle which was not unlike the World War II era jeep drove at insane speeds through the streets. The mounted chaingun blowing away any resistance presented to it. It was the property of the United Nations Space Command, a new power with formidible space and ground forces. It was called a Warthog, which had Wesker puzzled since it looked more like a puma to him.
The warthog screeched to a halt when a gunship belonging to the Combine blasted away at it with dual chainguns. The marines inside were instantly vaporized by the large amount of gunfire. The gunship's victory was short lived however as an F-16 Raptor intercepted it with it's sidewinder missles. The wreckage of the gunship fell to the ground and exploded.
Wesker's headset rang and he answered it.
"This is Wesker." he said uncaringly.
"Hello Albert Wesker. This is operative X relaying a message from the Patriots." the ragged voice said.
"If you are suggesting Umbrella will build you a Metal Gear in exchange for amnesty then I agree." Wesker said over the headset.
"We will make the parts avalible to you. Remember, it cannot have any trace of Umbrella when it is built." the voice said.
"Understood. Wesker out." he said killing the connection.
"Ada!" he yelled out to the back of the room.
An asian woman with a red butterfly dress walked up to him. She casually flipped her hair as she watched the monitors.
"Yes Wesker?" she saked him.
"Recover any data about those GUN mechs from their HQ. Then escape back here." he said turning to face her.
"By any means necessarry." he said with finality.
She nodded and walked to the helipad.
Wesker turned back to the monitors. Things just got a little more interesting.
