This
boy here wants to move too fast
He sees my future as having a
past
Well, I don't think so
I don't think so
That boy
there, well he's playing a fool
He thinks he's funny and he thinks
he's cool
We'll I don't think so
I don't think so
Cheap
date, bad taste, another night gone to waste
Talking about nothing
in so many words
It's not like I'm not trying
'Cause I'll give
anyone a shot once
Elle shifted in her seat on the stool at the counter of the restaurant, trying to move as far back as possible without falling off. She had been asked on a date by Jonathan Richmond, the head of the football team, who had perfect hair, perfect eyes, and a smile that made every girl within a twelve mile radius melt into the floor. She had dreamed about this night for years, it seemed, but as she sat on the sticky red plastic stool with Jonathan’s hand moving closer to the end of her skirt, all she wanted to do was run home.
She took a final sip of her drink, jumping up quickly, and smoothed her skirt down.
“Well,” she said, her voice shakier than she wanted it to be, “This was…great, but I really have to go.”
“But we haven’t even gotten our food yet!” he exclaimed, looking highly disappointed that she had left a place within his grasp.
“I…I know, but…I totally forgot, I’m supposed to…babysit. Yeah, I have to babysit. Um, see you at school…bye.”
She rushed out, her heels clicking on the tile floor as she ran. When she turned the corner, she stopped and sighed. Who would’ve thought? She’d waited until her senior year to get to this date, and he ended up being a total pervert. She should have known…
Here's
this guy, thinks he's bad to the bone
He wants to pick me up and
take me home
Well, I don't think so
I don't think so
Cage
fights, PlayStation, X-Games, raider nation
Oversize pants with an
ego to match
It's not like I'm not trying
'Cause I'll give
anyone a shot once
Of course, in college, the blonde sorority president could get any guy she wanted. The perfect one happened to be Warner Huntington III, who came from an equally wealthy family with a showy name to match.
She had found the perfect dress, prepared for hours, and was wished luck by each of the girls of Delta Nu. She could feel it in the air as they walked hand in hand into the restaurant that this was it, this was what she’d been waiting for. As he spoke to her about his plans, she tuned him out, picturing the ring that was sure to adorn her finger by the time the night ended.
“…Baby, that’s why you and I…should break up!”
“Yes, baby, I’ll give you my hand, we- what?! You’re breaking up with me?”
As she felt herself being led into a chair, everything he said seemed to be a blur. Not a Marilyn, a Jackie, someone classy but not too tacky…she remembered telling him to shut up and storming out, leaving him in the expensive restaurant with the violin player.
When she arrived back at her dorm (After brushing past spastically interrogating Delta Nus), she flopped onto her bed, still in her new proposal dress, and allowed herself to cry into her pillow. After a moment, she felt something brush against her hand, and opened her eyes to see Bruiser’s chocolate eyes looking back at her. She pulled the dog into her as she cried and let him snuggle into her pillow.
“You would never break up with me.” She sniffled, hugging the dog closer, “I’m not dating anyone until you give me a sign, okay?”
She sighed. Now she would surely be sworn off of men forever.
And,
I , I close my eyes
And, I kiss that frog
Each time finding
The
more boys I meet the more I love my dog
Why can't they be like
the one's that mean everything to me
The warm and loyal, open and
friendly
It's not like I'm not trying
'Cause I'll give anyone a
shot once
I close my eyes
And, I kiss that frog
Each
time finding
The more boys I meet the more I love my
I
close my eyes
And, I kiss that frog
Each time finding

“Omigod, you will never believe the day I had.” Elle exclaimed, dropping her purse on a chair as she entered her apartment, “That final was ridiculous. But I was prepared, because of a fabulous study partner.”
Emmett looked up from his laptop, smiling, as she entered the living room and leaned down to reach him, placing a kiss on his lips.
“So,” he said, shutting the computer and setting it onto the coffee table, “What do you want to do now that you’re officially finished with your second year of law school?”
She sat herself down on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. She glanced at where Bruiser was sitting on the rug, the dog looking back as if to say, ‘don’t look at me…’ and scurrying to the kitchen, leaving Elle and Emmett alone in the living room.
She turned back to Emmett. “Well,” she smirked, leaning closer to him, “I’ve got a few ideas.”
He kissed her and she melted into him comfortably. She smiled against his lips, thinking back to the night when Warner had broken up with her.
Emmett looked up at her, smiling. “What are you laughing about?”
“Oh, nothing.” She said, looking at the spot where Bruiser had been sitting, “Bruiser’s just a…good dog, that’s all.”
A/N: Kind of random, but…I wrote it at 2 AM, so…yeah. Anyway. Lyrics are from “More Boys I Meet” by Carrie Underwood.
