Ten Nights

Night One

The first night was out of pity.

"C'mon, Mr. Tsukio, you've had enough to drink for this evening," Spoke Tifa, the bartender. The brunet man merely hiccupped and laid his head in his folded arms, mumbling incoherent sentences under his breath. The raven haired woman smiled and sighed, picking up his glass and placing it into the sink. The music was ear blasting, a dance floor the size of a football field behind the bar was packed with sweaty bodies dancing, lost in intoxicating beats and drunk off their worries. Sora Tsukio, a young man at the age of twenty four, sighed, frozen to the black stool, his arms crossed under his locks of chocolate brown, seated comfortably on the counter, drunk out of his mind. "Aww, Sor, what did she do this time?" Tifa asked, pulling up a chair on the other side of the counter and resting her chin over her folded hands. The brunet lifted his head slightly; hurt blue eyes sadly gazing at a small crack in the wood of the counter.

"Jus' another fight," He managed to slur, closing his eyes again and lowering his head, trying his damnest not to cry. "Ah, Tif, I don't think I can handle this anymore..." The raven haired girl made a sound of sympathy, and looked up to see an old friend. She smiled at the man taking a seat next to Sora, he nodded for the usual and she got to work on his alcoholic beverage.

"What's up with the passed out kid?" The man asked, flipping his sliver hair behind his shoulder. Tifa chuckled, smiling warmly over to the brunet's shaking body.

"Sora. He's having girlfriend problems." The silveret nodded in thanks as she handed him his glass. Taking a sip, his aquamarine eyes wondered over to the young man, scanning the thin body and messy spikes of brown. A small smile greeted his devious lips, and he looked at Tifa's angry face.

“What?” He asked with a smirk. She shook her head with a frown and pointed her finger at him.

“Oh no you don’t. Sora is a good kid, Riku. College student, with his high school sweetheart. Don’t you dare give him that look. No touching. You will not take advantage of him.” She warned, waving her finger in his face. Riku chuckled, taking another sip of his drink. He looked back over to the brunet, eyes narrowing.

“Is he even awake, Tifa? Don’t you think he can hear you?” She shrugged, walking away to help another customer. He watched with hungry eyes as Sora stirred, head finally popping up with sleep-filled eyes. He started ruffling through his pockets, and when the song that was blasting through the club ended, he finally heard what was capturing the brunet’s attention; his cell phone ringing.

“Mmm yello?” He asked, yawning. Sora took a quick glance at Riku, and then went back to staring at the counter. A sigh escaped his lips, and he closed his eyes. “No, Kairi,” He deadpanned, eyes immediately growing dark. Riku watched with interest. Was this Kairi the girlfriend Tifa was talking about? She was defiantly causing him trouble. “Kairi, please, just stop I’m not putting up with this tonight.” His voice was growing even duller. Riku watched the grip on the cell phone grow tighter. “No, I’ll stay at a friends house tonight.” He was about to hang up when something caught his ear. He grunted. “No,” He said, like to what he was answering was completely obvious. “No, Kairi listen to me, think about what you did to me, and before pleading me to come back, why don’t you get a personality check, there’s obviously something wrong with you and you’re bipolarity.” He said coldly, flipping his phone shut, and collapsing back into his arms. It took a minuet for Riku to realize Tifa was standing there again.

“Sora,” she sighed, ”As much as I love you, you know I can’t let you sleep in the bar tonight.” He made a weird noise; almost grunt-like, and lifted his head.

“I know, I know, Tifa. Maybe I can call Sai-”

“No. Sora, he’s an abusive sex addict.” Sora opened his mouth again but was cut off my Tifa. “Cloud and Leon are on Vacation. Roxas and Axel moved an hour away to Radiant Garden. Seifer and Hayner are on their honeymoon.” Sora shut his mouth and sighed again.

“Tid-”

“Having a one night stand with Wakka. They just left a half hour ago.” Sora’s head fell into his hands. Riku watched in silence as Tifa gave an apologetic face and walked away to do dishes. He opened is mouth to say something, but the closed it deciding against his proposal. After another minute he sighed defectively.

“You can stay with me tonight.” Sora didn’t say anything. A half hour later, when Riku got up out of his seat, paying for both of their drinks, he took Sora’s hand and the brunet followed him. Tifa didn’t say a word. Sora woke up the next morning naked, alone, a sore rear, and in a strange apartment. He took his clothes, got dressed, and left within fifteen minutes without realizing where he was.
