An- Yes I am well aware that I suck at writing and should never have attempted fanfiction. that being said I hated this chapter but it is a necessity. so enjoy if you can. Yes I am suffering from a deep depression problem. Thats why I seem prissy and also why this chapter isn't so good.

Chapter 10:

Usopp's Past and the Reason He Is Such a Coward

The Mysterious Person at the End of Chapter 8 and 9's POV

As I was saying last chapter before our author so rudely interrupted me. The story I am about to tell you, tells why Usopp is so smart. While explaining why he is so afraid of battles. It is a story of a boy that almost had his father killed before his very eyes. Only to have said father survive and leave on an adventure of Piracy and have his mother die on him a year later. In other words, this is the story of Usopp’s childhood.

It all started about 12 years ago. Usopp had always been a bright kid, having been able to read since he was three. Nevertheless, while he was smart, Usopp was considered a troublemaker. Never really listening when his parents said this or that, and always interrupting the class in the middle of something important. This is normal for someone his age; they passed it off as a childhood rebellious stage. It was not until much later did they find out that it wasn’t just a stage, but by then it was too late.

“Usoppu… USOPPU!” Usopp’s mother screamed out the window of their small home. It was getting late and she hadn’t seen her son since he came back from school. Where has that boy gone off to now? She thought as she turned her back to the window, stirring the soup that was cooking on the stove.

“Banchina, hello love. How was your day?” Yasopp came in cheerfully, kissing his wife softly on the cheek. “Where’s Usoppu?”

Banchina sighed shaking her head. “I have no idea; I haven’t seen him since he came home from school.”

Yasopp frowned, taking a drink from the milk carton in the refrigerator. “That’s not like him. Usually he‘s drawing on the walls or inventing something.”

Banchina sighed and sat at the kitchen table, her head in her hands. Yasopp came up behind her and rubbed her back, “Your headaches back.” Nodding Banchina placed her head on her folded arms. “You really should go to the village doctor Ban. They seem to be getting more frequent.”

She shook her head, “I’ll be fine. Besides, we can’t afford the doctor. We can barely afford to eat.”

Yasopp rolled his eyes, “You worry to much. We are fine, better than fine.”

Banchina got up from her seat and stirred the soup, “And you wonder where Usoppu gets it from. You’re the one teaching our boy to lie.”

Yasopp walked out of the kitchen, and out to the garden. “Don’t be ridiculous, I’m going to go look for Usoppu.” he called as he walked out of their front gate.

Banchina sighed shaking her head, “I have two babies to raise, not one.” Turning off the stove, she made her way to her and Yasopp’s bedroom. Falling onto their bed, she sighed and wrapped her arms around Yasopp’s pillow, breathing deeply as the scent of her husband hit her nostrils. She smiled, and drifted into a peaceful sleep unaware of the danger her husband and son were in.

Yasopp walked from household to household hoping that Usopp was just helping one of the neighbors and forgot to tell Banchina. After an hour of fruitless searching, he headed back home, hoping that he was there. It was then that he heard the scared cry of his son coming from the forest.

Yasopp ran as fast as he could through the thick trees, roots and whatever other debris covered the ground, hoping that Usopp was all right. Finally, he came to a meadow, stopping when he saw Usopp on the floor seemingly doubled over in pain. “Usoppu!” Yasopp ran over to his son, seeing that the boy was lying in a puddle of blood. “Usoppu. What happened? Speak to me Usoppu!” Yasopp looked at his son helplessly, having no idea on how to help him. He was about to pick up his son when an evil laugh sounded from behind him. Turning Yasopp stood protectively in front of the boy, his gun in his hand, ready to use if necessary. His eyes were deadly and he looked ready to kill, as he always did when he faced me.

“Kataomoi. What the hell are you doing here? What did you do to Usoppu?”

I chuckled, “I haven’t touched the boy, he was like this when I got here.” I laughed inwardly at the pissed look Yasopp was giving me. Of course, I touched the boy, who else would hate Yasopp enough to hurt his kid?

Yasopp snarled and pointed his gun at my head, “You filthy liar! Who else would be sick enough to do this to a child? I should have killed you the last time we met up.”

I put my hands up, “I just wanted to talk. That’s all.”

He glared at me dangerously, if I was not careful he was going to kill me.

“Dad?” A small voice laced with pain came from the ground, “W-what’s going on?”

Yasopp seemed to relax a little; he kneeled in front of his son. “Usoppu, are you alright?” He placed his hand on the small boys shoulder as the kid tried to get up. “Stay down, you’re hurt.”

Usopp laid against his father’s leg, breathing heavily, his eyes closed tightly as pain consumed him, I can tell the kid was about to pass out again at any moment. He was -in my opinion- not fatally wounded, only having a punctured lung, a slash on his head, a broken collarbone, a broken arm, and maybe a lost kidney. “Dad… it was… my fault.” His voice was frail and quivered slightly. “I went into the forest… even though you… and mommy told me not… to.” He was gasping at this point, and if he didn’t get to the doctor soon he would surely die. The thought made me smile.

Yasopp ran his hand through his sons hair, “No it wasn’t you fault. Don’t say things like that.” The man had tears in his eyes, and that just made my mood even brighter. The most important thing in the world is about to be taken away from him, just as he took the most important thing in the world away from me. Banchina. My sweet Banchina I will have you in my arms again soon.

Yasopp stood up, his back turned to me as he stared at his helpless son. “I will never forgive you for this. You think the pain of losing Banchina was bad. You don’t know what pain is.” Yasopp turned to me, his pistil pointing at my left arm.

“What are you pointing at you fool?” I laughed loudly on the outside, but inside I was cursing the gods. Does he know that I have pictures of Banchina tattooed on my arm?

When he shot, it was like lightning one right after the other with perfect accuracy. Shooting my arm completely off my body, and throwing a match onto the fallen arm, making it go up into flames. I watched as the pictures of Banchina melted off the bone of my fallen limb, refusing to acknowledge that the arm held any significance to me. “You think that arm held any significance to me? You’re mad.” I froze when I heard a huge crash come from behind me I felt anger consume me. It wasn’t my arm he was aiming at; it was just an added benefit. No what he was aiming at was the tree where Banchina’s and my initials where carved. It was our tree. This one tree held the last memory I had of the days when Banchina and I were together, and he destroyed it.

“You son of a bitch!” I saw red as I charged towards him, slapping the gun out of his hand and grabbing his neck. I reached above us and grabbed the gun from where it had fallen on the ground, placing it to his head. “How dare you do that? How dare you destroy the last thing that kept me connected to her?!”

Yasopp just lay under me calm, as if he didn’t have a gun pointed at his head. “You lost that connection to her the day she married me. You had better get over it. She was never yours, she always belonged to me.”

I pressed the gun to his temple, and pulled the trigger. The scream of Usopp’s pained voice and the sound of the gun going off where the only sounds I remember hearing, everything that happened after that is a complete blank.

I woke a couple of weeks later in the village hospital, an IV connected to my arm. I looked around the room and saw one other bed occupied. It held Yasopp’s small son. The boy was tinkering with a small toy, looking bored. Sighing he looked up and saw me watching him. He fearfully looked away pressing the button that calls the nurse. She walked in quickly, saw me and instantly understood what his problem was. He pointed to me and said, “He’s bad. He tried to kill me and my pop.”

The nurse sighed, and patted his head. “Don’t worry he wont hurt you again.”

The boy looked skeptical but a smile graced his features. I was confused as to what he was smiling at. Yasopp and Banchina where standing in the doorway. “Ban-” I said but she looked right passed me, and ran to her son.

“Usoppu! My darling little boy! I missed you so much!” she hugged him gently and I saw tears falling down her face. “Don’t you dare ever scare me like that again?”

Usopp looked guilty, “Mommy don’t cry. Everyone is alright.” She looked up and smiled, kissing his small head gently. He looked up at his father and saw that Yasopp had a huge bag slung over his shoulder. “Dad is that my school work?”

Yasopp shook his head, “The school seems to have decided that your… behavioral problems in class are not due to a learning disorder as they first thought. They are thinking about advancing you to the fourth grade.”

Usopp frowned, “But all my friends are in my First Grade class. Why would I change?”

Banchina smiled slightly, “They seem to think that the work is too easy for you. That you are bored with it. It’s just a test, nothing is definite.”

Tears spilt down Usopp’s eyes, as he cried. “Mommy please don’t make me transfer! I’ll pretend to find the work hard! I’ll act dumb; please don’t make me go with the upperclassman!”

Banchina sighed and shook her head. “You must take the test Usoppu! Now enough of this and get into bed!” Usopp sadly followed his orders. She grabbed the bag from Yasopp’s back and placed it next to him on the bed. “We put a few toys, your sketchbook, and your art supplies in here along with the test. Now you are to finish the test and give it to your nurse no later than tomorrow night. Do you understand me?” Her voice was stern and he seemed to realize that there was no room for argument.

“Yes Mommy.”

Banchina smiled and kissed the top of his head, “That’s my good boy. I‘ll be going now, your father wants to speak to you.” She got off the chair and Yasopp took her place, as she walked passed my bed a note was dropped onto it, though she made no move to pick it up. She just kept walking out of the door.

I looked back to see Yasopp picking Usopp up, and carrying him to the window. “Usopp you see that pirate ship that’s docked?”

The boy squinted his eyes, nodding. “The one with Red-Haired Shanks Flag on it? Red-haired Shanks is here?! So cool!!” The boy seemed to be jumping up and down, “I want to see!”

Yasopp chuckled softly, and placed him back on the bed, “Not until you’re out of the hospital Usoppu and only if you do what Mommy and I say.”

Usopp sighed, crossed his arms, and said reluctantly, “Alright Daddy.”

Yasopp slipped under the covers of the bed and brought Usopp under the covers with him. “I’m leaving Usopp.”

Usopp looked up alarmed and slightly frightened, “Is it because I was bad? Please Daddy don’t leave me and Mommy because I was bad!”

Yasopp shook his head and said, “No it has nothing to do with you being bad. Okay how do I explain this? Oh! Remember the story I told you? The one about following you dreams. How there where two men? One who followed his dream and one who didn’t?”

Usopp nodded, “The one who did follow his dreams was the happiest man in the world, even though he was poor. And the man who didn’t follow his dreams was the saddest man in the world, even though he was rich.”

Yasopp nodded, “That’s right; well I am going to be the happiest man.”

Usopp looked slightly confused, “What is your dream Daddy?”

Yasopp looked out the window, “It’s to be a pirate Usoppu. It’s something I’ve wanted to be ever since I was your age.”

Usopp nodded and snuggled closer to his father, “When are you leaving? What are me and Mommy going to do?”

Yasopp leaned his head against the headboard, “We are still working out the details. So far, it looks like you will be moving to Syrop village. We know the Mayor there. Everything is going to take about six months to plan, so you don’t have to worry about it now. Now the only thing you are to worry about is going to sleep.”

Usopp yawned and shifted slightly to get more comfortable. “Yes Daddy, night.”

“Good Night Usoppu.”

I stayed awake that night thinking about everything I overheard, wondering what my next action would be.

Now we fast-forward to a few weeks later Usopp is finally out of the hospital and preparations for their leave are well underway.

“Usoppu… Usoppu!” Yasopp ran after his hyperactive son, “Usoppu! You’re not well enough to be running around!” Yasopp stopped putting his hands on his knees and taking a few deep breaths.

“Man that kid can run! Oh look at that, he’s still going. Amazing doesn’t he ever get tired?” Yasopp looked up to see a red haired man watching the young boy with an amused expression on his face, “I’m going to take a guess and say that’s your son.”

Yasopp shook his head, “Hey Shanks. No not really, in fact he always seems to have more energy when someone is chasing him.”

Shanks grinned, “He’s heading towards the ship. The crews going to be in for a surprise.”

Yasopp stood up straight, “I had better go get him before he causes trouble.”

Shanks snickered, “Leave him, he’ll be fine. Have you talked to your wife?”

Yasopp started making his way towards the ship, “She told me to go. However, look at what I am leaving behind. Is it really worth following my dream? Leaving my son with out a father and my wife to raise Usoppu all by herself?”

Shanks nodded, “You defiantly have some thinking to do. I won’t take it personally if you decide to stay. Hey what is he doing?”

Yasopp looked up and saw Usopp talking to a couple of Shanks’ crew mates “I believe he’s talking to your crew mates about either helping them build something or one of the inventions he has been working on. I don’t know he has the same look for each. Usoppu, what are you up to know?” Yasopp picked up the boy and swung him over his back.

“Daddy! Nothing, I was just helping them. They tried putting in windows, but couldn’t do it. I was just giving them some tips on how to put them in.”

A large man with a bone of chicken in his hand said, “You have an intelligent kid there Yasopp. He actually taught these idiots how to put the windows in.”

Yasopp shook his head grinning, “He’s been doing things like that since he was three.”

Usopp turned to Yasopp after hearing a group of people talking, “Daddy what does antithesis mean?”

Yasopp groaned, “The exact opposite of something.”

Usopp nodded saying, “So Daddy is the antithesis of pretty.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

Usopp looked at Yasopp blinking, “That you are the opposite of pretty, duh.”

I snickered softly; this kid could be amusing at times. While this is fun, we must fast forward to the day of Yasopp’s departure (our dear author is getting bored with where this is going). Banchina and Usopp are already settled in Syrop village, and the sun is shining brightly in the sky.

“Banchina! Get up it’s almost time for me to leave!” Yasopp ran through their house gathering the last bits of his personal belongings and putting them haphazardly into his bag.

Banchina cracked open an eye and looked at the clock on her bedside table. 10 O’clock glared back at her. She frowned normally she was up at six. She must be more exhausted from last night than she thought. Yasopp kept her up all night, insisting that it would be their last night together for a while. Usopp had spent the night with Shanks and his crew.

Banchina threw the covers off of herself and walked out into the kitchen, completely ignoring her husbands open arms. She took a pan from the cabinet above the sink, filled it with water and put it on the stove. She ignored Yasopp as he watched her, turning the knob on the stove. “If you expect to eat lunch you had better stop staring at me.” she said lightheartedly.

Yasopp shook his head, “I would give up all meals if it meant I could spend the rest of my live staring at you.”

Banchina rolled her eyes, “Take a picture.”

Yasopp grinned mischievously, “Oh believe me I have plenty. A lot of which should never be seen by anyone besides me.”

Banchina blushed, “Pervert.”

Yasopp grinned and hugged her from behind, “Yeah maybe. But you love me for it.”

Banchina smiled up at her husband, kissing his cheek softly. I can’t believe your leaving.”

Yasopp sighed and hugged her closer, “I know it’s so… surreal. Hey remember when we first met?”

Banchina smiled, “Do I? If I remember correctly you made a complete and utter fool of yourself.”

Yasopp grinned, “Oh I wasn’t all that bad.”

Banchina snorted, “Yeah okay keep telling yourself that… it’s going to be weird though. It’s going to take some getting used to.”

Yasopp kissed her head, “Everything will be alright, I promise. I will come back Banchina.”

Banchina sighed, “Don’t go making promises you aren’t going to keep Yasopp.”

Yasopp looked hurt, “I meant it.”

“You were always such a gifted liar. Banchina I will return.”

Banchina looked at the clock not saying anything, “You had better be going. The ship is leaving the port in 20 minutes. I had better go get Usoppu.”

Yasopp picked up his bag and followed Banchina out of the small house. They walked in silence, but it was a comfortable silence, not one that usually lead up to a good bye. Shanks grinned at Yasopp as they entered the dock, and Yasopp grinned back. Usopp ran into his fathers arms, crying. Blubbering one thing or another about Yasopp leaving. Good riddance I say. Now I can work on my get Banchina to fall for me plan. Finally, it was time for Yasopp to leave. He hugged Usopp and kissed his head, promising to come back someday. Another lie. He looked at Banchina, not sure as to what he should do. Then he hugged her, almost as if he was never going to see her again. Finally, after what seemed like a millennia he let her go. Bending down to Usopp’s height, he looked the boy in the eyes.

“Usoppu, this is my pride and joy. My treasure. I expect you to take good care of this while I am away, and I will get it back the next time I see you. You are to take care of your mother and listen to everything she says. Don you understand me? I love you Usoppu, be a good boy. And I promise to return to you someday.” With that, Yasopp stood and walked towards the ship, tears flowing down his cheeks as he left his family behind.

We are now nearing the end of our story. This part takes place the day of Banchina’s death.

“Mom! Mom! It’s Dad! He’s at the port! Dads home!!” The doctor grabbed Usopp and pulled him to the side.

“Usopp your mother is not well, she does not need you yelling and acting crazy!”

Banchina coughed and shook her head, “It’s fine. Let me see him. One last time.”

Usopp ran to his mother, tears running down his eyes. “Mom! Dads back you just have to hold on little longer! Than he can go to that island with that miracle plant and we could be a family again!”

Banchina coughed shaking her head, “Usoppu don’t say such ridiculous things. You father is not coming back! I don’t ever regret being with him Usoppu, nor having you. However, you have to stop this! I will be leaving soon; you have to act like a big boy from now on. No more lying!”

Usopp rolled his hands into fists, “Dad is coming back you’ll see. Just hang on little longer, Please.”

“Stop it Usoppu!”

Usopp watched as his mother grew weaker and weaker, tears poured down his face. He didn’t understand. No that was wrong he did understand he just didn’t want to. “Dad is coming back and if you hold on little longer you will see.”

Banchina was quiet, and Usopp climbed onto to bed, “Mom?” He shook her softly and then more roughly. “Mom? MOM! Wake Up!! Doc help!” Usopp looked frantic, more tears poured down his face.

The doctor shook his head, “I am sorry Usoppu there is nothing I can do she is gone.”

Usopp continued to shake her, “What do you mean she’s gone, she’s fine. She’s j-just sleeping.” Usopp snuggled up to his mother allowing himself to cry, “If your not going to help us than get out.”

“But Usoppu.”

“Get out! Moms alive and she will live. Now get out!”

The doctor shook his head but allowed Usopp his peace. “What’s going to happen to Usoppu now?”

The mayor looked through the door, “he has no known relatives. He will have to stay in the village.”

“You can’t expect him to fend for himself! He’s only six!” said Usopp’s next-door neighbor.

“Unfortunately that’s all we can do.” said the mayor sadly.

“Now what could possibly be putting such a huge crowd of people down on such a beautiful day like today?” The crowed spilt as the family of an aristocrats walked up to Usopp’s home.

The Mayor shook his head, “It’s Usoppu. He just lost his mother. Leaving him an orphan. I was just explaining there is nothing we can do.”

The man looked surprised, “The boys and orphaned? Where’s his father? Kaya don’t go into that house you where not invited.”

The small blonde girl walked away form the door but looked inside from a respectable distance, “Sorry Father. He’s in my class, such a nice boy. He always shares his toys with me. I feel so sorry for him. Can‘t we help him Father? Please?” She stared at Usopp as she said this.

The Mayor looked alarmed, “You mustn’t do that! The boy is bad news! He lies and his father is a pirate! You taking him into your home will only be a nuisance”

Her father looked deep in thought, before nodding. “It may be best if I were to take him in for now. I’m sure he will be fine. He will make a good playmate for Kaya, since they already know each other.”

The Mayor looked skeptical, “I think your making a big mistake but I grant you permission. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

The man chuckled, “I won’t.” Looking into the house, he saw the boy was hysterically crying over his mother’s still body. “I will come for him in a few days. Just leave him for a while. Give him time to mourn. I’ll meet him tomorrow right now, might not be the best time.”

The mayor nodded, “I agree. Thank you for this.”

The man put his hand up. “I am always willing to help a child in need.”

Unfortunately, for him, said child refused to be helped and had to be dragged to the mansion. He ran away almost everyday and mad life there total hell. The man never gave up though and eventually Usopp became part of the family. That’s where he remained until Klahadore came into the picture, ruining his life in one single day.

This is where I will end the story for you know the rest. Usopp gets kicked out as soon as Klahadore is accepted as the butler and Usopp goes to live in his old home. Klahadore ends up being evil and having to get his ass kicked. The end.

Now you may be wondering what the hell does this guy have to do with anything? Well it is quite simple you see I still seek revenge for Banchina and Usopp is the best way to get to Yasopp. So attacking Usopp is how I will get one over on Yasopp. Muwahahahaha! Alright end Chapter! All eyes off me! Begone!!
