Drake walked through his newly acquired club blocking out the noise of the music and the talk of the humans around him. Blade had left thinking that the Daystar had fully taken effect on the vampires around him, but he was wrong. While the virus infected the vampires, one taste of human blood made them all better. Unfortunately for Drake, that meant that Danika was still around. He didn’t mind her brother Asher, but Danika, she was an awful example of his kind, ‘his people’ as Danika put it. Currently they were out feeding.

Drake stepped into his office and looked down through the window at the floor of the club, at the writhing mass of bodies pressed up against one another, he closed his eyes and smiled while he listened to the beat of their heartbeats, the pumping of blood in their veins, their gasps for breath, each so human, so mortal, so unaware of the darkness that lived within their society. His eyes caught a group of people unlike the rest that occupied his club, a woman and two men, dressed very business like, and they were headed in the direction of the bar.

“Hi sweetheart,” Alexa said to the bartender, she smoothed out her knee length black skirt and smiled, “I need to talk to your new boss.”

“Alexa,” the bartender smirked, “I’ll go see what I can do.”

“Thanks Frank,” Frank, the bartender walked away to the back.

Drake watched as he came up and knocked on his office door, “Come.”

“Boss,” Frank stuck his head through the door, “I got someone downstairs who wants to see you, her name’s Alexa Danvers; she runs the place down the street, ‘Club Toxicity’”

“And what is it exactly, that she wants?” Drake asked.

“She had a uh… repertoire with the previous owner; I assume that she wants to start one with you, either that or she wants to warn you off her territory. She was always a little possessive like that.”

“Send her up,” Drake smirked. Frank nodded and headed back downstairs.

Alexa headed up the stairs being followed by the two men who came in with her. “Wait out here,” she mumbled to them. They nodded and stood just outside the office door, she walked in and closed the door. “Mr Dagon, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” she smirked as Drake turned to meet her. His eyes flitted over her form and took her in, her hair was layered, shoulder length and red. Along with her black skirt she wore a dark green three quarter length blouse underneath a black jacket. She had crystal green eyes and tanned skin, and was well built. “How may I be of service Miss Danvers?” he gave her a slow smile.

“Well I’m assuming that you’ve already heard from Frank that I was a…business partner of the previous owner. I agreed to open my club every fortnight when this one was shut. In return I gained some of the profits made; obviously I’m here to make the same deal with you.”

“Now why, would I choose a deal like that?” Drake asked cockily, “My club seems pretty packed, it doesn’t seem as if there is any need to make a deal with you of any kind.”

Alexa smirked, “You say that now, just wait until my club’s open the same day as this one, then you’ll wish that you took my offer. Jason!” she raised her voice and one of the men with her came in.

“Boss?”

“Call Jackson, the club opens tomorrow.”

Jason smirked and nodded, “Right away Boss,” he left.

“My club is bigger, better and has been around for longer, I’m going to run you through the ground.” She spun on her heel and left. Drake watched as she left, smile still spread on his face, ‘This should be interesting,

It was four in the morning and the sun was almost up, Drake was in his penthouse suit, the building was owned by Danika’s house, which meant that she thought that she could just enter whenever she saw fit. “Blade is sniffing around more and more, he’s getting closer to figuring out where we are,” she said scowling at Drake.

“And what is it you expect me to do?” Drake growled at her petulant tone and yet she continued unheeded of the underlying warning he had just given her.

“Well if you had killed him when you first met-!”

The back of Drake’s hand collided with her face sending Danika sprawling to the floor, she hissed and wiped the blood from her lip. “You dare question me?!” he roared, his true vampiric self shifting beneath the surface of his human form. “I am your elder! I am your creator, and you dare try and a mock me! When you raised me from my slumber you begged that I helped my, what was it that you called them? Oh yes, ‘my people’” he sneered, “When I have someone to kill, I kill them, and Blade is no different! When the time is right I shall kill him, and you test me anymore you will find out just how cruel I can be!” Danika shrunk back, and for the first time since she met him, she felt afraid. “Leave!” he growled and Danika left. Drake seethed and tore the kitchen counter from it’s place and hurled it across the room.

“Now, I know that Danika can be frustrating, to the point where ripping out her throat doesn’t seem enough, but don’t take it out on the furniture,” Asher revealed himself from his dark corner and smirked at Drake. Drake glowered at him and Asher just shrugged it off, “You know, My Lord, a familiar of mine told me that he saw the owner of ‘Club Toxicity’ visit you today.” Asher raised an eyebrow, “And I find myself very curious as to why she was left alive.”

“Curiosity killed the cat,” Drake sneered.

“Satisfaction brought it back,” Asher shot back.

“She’s different,” he said.

“How so?”

“She smells like death,” Drake whispered, “she smells like one of us, and yet, she is not.”

“Yes, well that’s explainable,” Asher murmured.

“What?”

“She and I used to…” Asher cocked his head to the side and a smile crossed his face, “I turned her, only problem was those Nightstalkers appeared seconds after, I left, and I’m assuming they cured her.”

“You can’t cure vampirism,” Drake said.

“Apparently you can.”

“I’m going to her club tomorrow, she intrigues me.” Drake left the room, probably to go and feed, Asher watched with something unidentifiable in his eyes.
