Hello fellow readers!

Autumdragon is here, and this is a new story that was inspired on the way home from high school on the bus. Me. All alone.Haha. Enjoy!

The bus shook and trebled over the bumps on the poorly cemented road. She moved in rhythm with the bus carelessly, staring out at the window, not taking in at all where she was. Somewhere in China- she didn’t know. Nor did she even care.

She glared at a cutesy family walking together, smiling and laughing. She rolled her eyes and looked somewhere else, thinking about what had happened a few hours ago.

“Sakura, dear. Please hurry!” Her mother said hastily. Sakura was hurrying, tears threatening to fall. She blinked them back. She had to be strong for her and her mother. The suitcase she was dragging behind her was weighing and slowing her down.

Okaa-san!” Sakura whimpered. She was more than scared... she was terrified. Petrified. Her mother stopped for a moment and looked at her with saddened eyes.

“Sakura, dear. You have to hurry. We have to get you out of here.” She rested her hand on Sakura’s cheek.

“But I want you to come with me, Okaa-san.” Her mother’s eyes deepened with sorrow.

Sakura closed her eyes tightly, trying to forget the scene that was so vivid in her head. She was leaving her mother. The bus hit another bump, jolting her eyes open. It was like a TV. Whenever her eyes opened, she could see the scene before her. And when she closed her eyes, she could still hear her mother saying goodbye in such a rushed tone.

“I can’t, sweet blossom.” She cooed slightly. “That would be too much money to take out without being noticed. I’ll be fine. Not to worry.” Sakura’s eyes travelled to the ground, and almost immediately, her mother took her two fingers and lifted her chin. “Chin up, dear. I will see you soon.” And they continued walking to the metal detectors. Every step closer, Sakura’s stomach tightened.

Okaa-san!” Sakura said again, wanting this to be a dream. Or a nightmare. She didn’t know why a 17 year old like her was sounding like a 10 year old. She was whining and pleading and begging, but her mother wouldn’t let her stay.

“Now, remember, Sakura. You’re going to stay with a good friend of mine. Yelan Li. She’s a wonderful lady, but please respect her and do everything you’re told. Once you get off the plane, you have to take the bus. Bus 182Get off the bus as soon as you reach this address.” And her mother handed her a sheet of paper with an address scribbled on it. “ She has a room set up for you already, and I’ve sent some of your clothing already.” Sakura’s breathing became shallow and sparse. This wasn’t happening. “Do you understand?” Sakura didn’t look at her. She tried breathing through her mouth. It still wasn’t working. Her heart felt like it was about to explode. Her mother repeated herself more firmly, “Sakura do you understand me?” And slowly, yet quickly, Sakura nodded, still gasping for air.

Sakura groaned and slammed her hands against her ears, gaining the attention of some other people sitting near her. But all she did was ignore them.

“Now,” Her mother said, zipping up Saukra’s coat for her. “Hurry up, be a good girl. And I’ll see you very soon. Not to worry, dear. This isn’t goodbye.”

“Okaa-san!” Sakura whispered before mauling her mother in her arms. Her mother sighed and gripped tightly.

“Be strong, Sakura. For the both of us.”

“Okaa-san,” Sakura choked out, not letting a tear fall. “I’ll come back for you. One day, I’ll come back for you.” She felt her mother nod. A single tear fell on Sakura’s auburn hair and she looked up, sensing her mothers’ grief.

“You’re so brave, Sakura. Much stronger than me.” Her mother forced a smile, handed her a package wrapped in pink and green paper. “Please don’t open this until you get to the Li’s home.” And with that, she gave Sakura a gently push toward the metal detectors. “Goodbye, dear. I love you.”

Sakura could do nothing but nod. Because if she would have said something, all of her held in tears would come springing out, like a dam breaking. Turning her back on her mother, she walked toward the security guard, walked through, and gathered her bag, turning around. But her mother was gone. Sighing and wanting to scream, she walked away to her terminal, preparing to board her plane.

The emerald-eyed woman gripped the strap of her bag tightly as the bus squealed to a halt right in front of a vast house. A gate blocked its beauty, as it was rusted. Sakura smiled at the slight irony; a beautiful house inside, an ugly gate caging it in on the outside. She got off the bus and stopped right in front of the gate. How was she supposed to get inside?

As if the gate had read her thoughts, it opened. She stepped inside the front garden (beautiful, not to mention) and walked up the long driveway, only to be greeted with an old man wearing a quaint tuxedo. He bowed slightly at her and gave her a warm welcoming smile.

“Good evening, Kinomoto-sama.” Sakura blushed at his formal attitude.

“Please, just call me Sakura-chan.” She said quietly. He bowed once again, complying. He took her suitcases and gestured for her to go first.

The inside was even more spectacular than the outside. The stairs spiralled down on the right side of the foyer. A crystal chandelier gave the house a very modest, yet pricey look. The floors were mahogany, and completely dust free. Sakura felt very cheap to be in such a spectacular room, while only wearing sweatpants and a baggy sweater, her hair tied in a messy bun.

A woman with ravishing long hair and kind eyes literally glided across the room, arms wide open. She gave Sakura an awkward embrace and smiled kindly at her.

“Welcome, Sakura, to my home. Wei, please take Sakura’s belongings into her new room.” Yelan Li directed to the butler, who was named Wei. He nodded, bowed and hoisted Sakura’s suitcases upstairs and into a hallway that went further than Sakura could see.

“Now,” Sakura turned her attention to Yelan. “We should get some food into you, shall we?” And she placed her arm on Sakura’s back and led her to a kitchen with marble counter tops. Sakura was served some fruits and vegetables. She wasn’t hungry, but she didn’t want to be rude, so she swallowed some food, trying with all her might to stomach them. She felt so sick from everything. She was terrified, tired and already homesick. All she wanted to do was shower, and go to bed and never wake up. While Sakura was complaining in her head, Yelan was watching her intently, and it was starting to freak her out.

Wanting her to stop staring at her, Sakura cleared her throat and looked at Yelan. “Uhm...” Sakura stammered slightly. “Thank you- for the food. And your home is lovely.” Yelan nodded and smiled.

“You’re most welcome. I’m sorry to stare- but you look so much like your mother.”

Sakura’s face faltered. Her mother. Oh yeah... And instantly, Yelan’s features changed from happy to sympathetic. “Oh, dear. I’m sure she’s fine. Now, you go wash up and get some rest. Please, though, don’t sleep long. You need to sleep into the night as well. Dinner will be in 2 hours. Go now.” Doing what she was told; Sakura got up and walked upstairs.

Where the hell was the bathroom? Like, honestly, you’d think they could draw a map or something for her. Sakura huffed and walked through the hall, opening every door she could find. Scratch the whole map thing, maybe some labels would be nice!

“Oh my god!” Sakura said to herself. She swore lightly, brushed a stray strand of hair away from her face and opened up one of the last doors. Thank God- there was the bathroom.

She sighed and threw her towel on the ground (Wei had brought down her shower supplies for her) and started the water. She felt awkward, having a shower in someone’s house. Shrugging it off, Sakura slipped of her clothes and stepped in the hot water, instantly sighing from relief. She tried washing off the stress and “airplane” feeling.

After about 5 minutes, she stepped out; towel dried her hair and wrapped her towel around her body. After letting her towel soak up all the water droplets, she gathered her clothes in her hand and stepped out. According to Yelan, her room was right across the hall from the bathroom.

But as soon as she stepped out, she froze solid. There, before her, was a man, about her age, with chestnut hair and chocolate eyes, staring open mouthed at her.

Shit.
