I'm sorry I haven't updated before now, but I've been busy with homework. Sometimes I wonder if the teachers even communicate with each other. I mean, I had tests every day the last week, I barely survived. TT

Oh well. Here is the newest chapter. Please enjoy.

Chapter 3

Allen went straight to his room after he had eaten. He just felt too tired after the mission, though he didn't know why. It hadn't been exhausting. He had, after all, only fought a couple of Akuma. There had been many, but he was used to long fights so it shouldn't be much of a trouble.

Shaking his head, he sat down on the bead. Worrying about why he was tired wouldn't help much. The only thing he needed was rest, not more worries. Lying himself down at the bed he fell right asleep, without giving anything a second thought.

Lavi decided to go check on Allen. They had been separated right after returning and he had only caught a glimpse of him eating in the cafeteria, so hadn't gotten the chance to ask Allen about his condition. He really wondered what was wrong with Allen. The strange attitude, the memory loss, something were definitely strange and Lavi wanted to know what it was. Therefore he was now on his way to Allen's room to ask him out. Panda had given him lots of work, but he was willing to sacrifice a few hours off sleep anyway.

There was twilight when Lavi finally stood in front of Allen's door. The last rays of the sun shone above the horizon, giving everything strange new colors and shapes. Lavi knocked at softly at the door, waiting for a reply. No one answered. Maybe he wasn't there, Lavi thought. He opened the door, peeking inside; just to be sure he didn't go looking other places for nothing. The room was lit up by the little shining from the sun that reached through the window, the tiny sunrays hitting the face of a peaceful and sleeping Allen. Lavi's lips turned upwards, this was the second time he had found Allen sleeping like this. He probably needed the rest, Lavi thought as he closed the door behind him and went over to the bed. Lavi laughed a little at Allen's position on the bed. It looked like he had more or less fallen asleep before hitting the bed so Lavi decided to make him a little more comfortable where he lay.

He removed the younger one's boots and took off his jacket. Allen didn't even stir, he just lay there limply, like he didn't have the strength to move even in his sleep. Lavi sat down on a chair next to the bed when he had laid Allen under the blanket. He watched the sleeping boy's face and heard the soft breaths that came with a steady rhythm. Stretching out his hand to remove a few strands of hair from the sleeping persons face, he noticed the pale shade of color his face had. Quickly feeling the boy's chin Lavi felt the palm of his hand drop a few degrees.

Allen was cold.

Much too cold. How could he sleep so peacefully when his body was as cool as it was?

Allen suddenly groaned in his sleep and his eyes opened slowly.

"Lavi?"he whispered. Lavi nodded in return. "What are you doing here?" Allen asked weakly when he noticed how warm his right cheek was compared to the left. He saw Lavi's hand, gently resting there.

"Just came to check on you. I didn't see you in the cafeteria, and I have a few things I want you to tell me" he answered, standing up while slowly pulling his hand away.

He was stopped halfway, however, by Allen's hand pulling him back. "Don't go" Allen said tiredly. Lavi looked surprised. "Don't leave" Allen felt tears burn in the corner of his eyes. Why, he did not know. He just felt that he really needed someone there. He didn't want to be alone.

Lavi noticed the tears forming in Allen's eyes and quickly sat back down again, not pulling his hand away.

The tears in his eyes where soon to big for Allen to hold back and he stopped fighting them, letting them run freely. Lavi could only watch as Allen let his emotions show so clearly for the first time to another person. He looked so fragile and helpless as he lied there shaking so Lavi did the only thing he could think of that might comfort him. He jumped up at the bed, wrapped his arms around Allen's small shoulders and closed his eyes as if to say "I'm here, go back to sleep". Allen was a bit surprised, but snuggled closer to Lavi, making himself comfortable in Lavi's embrace. The tears continued to pour down his face, but he didn't feel as sad anymore.

Lavi didn't say anything, and neither did he. And as the sun finally went down behind the horizon, Lavi and Allen were both sleeping comfortably.

Lavi was the first one to wake. He was facing the sun while Allen had his head buried into Lavi's chest. Rubbing the last sleep out of his eyes, Lavi yawned while slowly sitting up. He could not, however, move his right hand as Allen used it as a pillow. He could still see the path Allen's tears had created on his face and he noticed something else, his irregular breathing. Lavi wondered if it was because he had been so cold the day before, but when he laid his hand on Allen's forehead it was no longer cold.

It was warm this time. Allen was pale, yet warm and with ragged breathing. Lavi was really worried. Allen didn't seem to be alright, and he was definitely not better in better condition than he was yesterday. What was going on?

Allen woke up finding himself alone. Lavi had probably gone to eat breakfast. He grimaced, feeling the dry skin where his tears had been. It didn't feel like he had slept, he felt so awake like he had never been tired in the first place. He jumped up from the bed just as Lavi entered with a bowl containing cold water and a cloth.

"Good morning Lavi" Allen said, his face shining with happiness. Lavi gaped. And here he had though Allen was sick with a fever or something. He had brought the water here for nothing. "Can't he decide if he's sick or okay?" Lavi pouted in his mind.

"G-good morning" Lavi came back to his senses as Allen's face came closer and closer to his.

"What's that?" Allen asked curiously, looking at the bowl.

"Oh", Lavi also looked at the bowl. "I thought you wanted to wash your face" Lavi lied smiling. Inside his head he was banging head against a wall for such a bad excuse.

"Thank you" Allen smiled, taking the cloth out of the bowl and started to wash his face.

Lavi really wanted to feel Allen's forehead to check if he really was okay, but he decided to ask first, though he knew Allen would just say he was fine.

"Ehm, so you feel fine? Not to warm or anything?" Lavi asked when Allen was finished washing. He looked up questioningly.

"Actually.." Allen started. Lavi nodded, hopeful. "I feel better than fine" Allen smiled, Lavi's expression fell. "I feel like I've just had the best sleep ever" he said, then laughed at Lavi's facial expression. Lavi shook his head; he knew the answer would be something like that so he places his palm on Allen's forehead, hoping that would give him the information he needed. It was still a little warm, but it was a much better temperature than last time.

"Oh well" Lavi mumbled.

"Something wrong?" He heard Allen ask. Looking up and finding Allen's face only a few inches from his.

"No, no" Lavi stumbled backwards. "But aren't you hungry? Wanna go grab some breakfast?"

Allen finally felt his stomachs protest and decided to shut it up. He smiled at Lavi and threw himself around the older ones neck. "Yes please".

Once again; sorry for not updating sooner, and for the short chapter (I think I was a little fast in some of the explanations, but I feel content about how it all turned out). And I haven't postponed it for nothing. I made a One-Shot yesterday, and it will be published by Thursday I think.

I will make it up to you by writing very much this week. It's finally winter vacation. yay.
