This is my first attempt at a Twilight fanfiction. I am an avid reader and writer of Harry Potter, but only recently discovered this wonderful world. And I must say I’m hooked. For those of you who read my Harry Potter stories please check my Author Page where I will explain some things.

I do not own these characters. I’m making no money…

Chapter 1: Breaking the News

How was I supposed to go through with this. How was I supposed to tell my father that I was getting married in a few short weeks. How would he take it? After all he's never been very fond of Edward.

"What are you think about, Bella?" Edward whispered kissing my exposed neck softly.

I shuddered at his touch and leaned back on him feeling his scent surround me. We had been sitting in his car for the past five minutes, and I had not been able to find the courage to move.

"I'm scared." I mumbled not trusting myself to say much more.

"I don't think Charlie will say much." Edward replied wrapping his strong arms around me. "You don't have to tell him yet, if you don't want to."

"But I will have to tell him eventually." I responded staring at the house.

"He knows were here." Edward commented causing me to awake from my trance.

"Is he in a good mood?" I asked hoping that he won't be so upset.

Edward nodded opening the car door for me. "He knows something is up, but is not sure what. But don't worry, I will be right here with you." He finished kissing my lips lightly.

"Thank you." I mumbled as I took his hand walking towards the door.

"I'm home." I said as I walked into the house. The first thing I noticed was the smell of something burning. "Dad, are you trying to cook?" I asked running towards the kitchen with Edward close behind.

"I was just trying to reheat some pizza." Charlie replied as smoke aired out of the microwave.

I rolled my eyes taking the burnt pizza out of the microwave and throwing it in the garbage.

"Why don't you go sit down, and I'll reheat the pizza." I said smiling softly as Edward leaned on the wall to watch me. I would have to ask him about that later.

"Thank you, Bells." Charlie answered sitting on the table eyeing Edward strangely. "Do you want some?"

"No thanks, I already ate." Edward quickly stated causing me to giggle.

"Actually Dad, me and Edward want to tell you something." I added doing my best to calm myself as I handed him a plate of pizza taking a seat across from him with my own.

Charlie looked at me expectantly.

"Edward and I are getting married." I mumbled clear enough for him to understand.

It felt as if the silence dragged on forever. It was if time had stood still. Charlie did not move and did not react. He simply stared out into space. I looked at Edward from some sort of reassurance, but I could tell that he had no idea either.

"Can you say something?" I asked timidly reaching out for Edward's hand.

"What do you want me to say Bells? That you're too young, that this is a rash decision, that you should think it over." Charlie answered as my grip tightened on Edward.

"I love Edward." I stated simply.

"I don't doubt you do, Bells. But think about it, you two still have so much ahead of yourselves. And I don't think you two understand what marriage really means. It is not something to be take lightly."

"Charlie, Bell's change my life from the moment she walked into it two years ago. And I never want to spend a moment without her. She's the love of my life." Edward interjected.

"As much as I would rather you wait, I know that you two already made up your minds. And honestly, I can't say I didn't see it coming. But be gentle when you tell your Renee, Bells." Charlie conceded turning his attention back to his pizza.

I felt a sense of relief wash over me, and immediately dread. My mom would most likely not be so accepting like my father. She would be a lot more vocal, and put up much more resistance.

I was thankful that Charlie did not breach the subject again. After finishing his pizza he left us both alone taking his usual seat in front of the television.

"Do you want to tell your mom now?" Edward asked sneaking from behind as I washed the dirty dishes.

I shrugged. "My mom is not Charlie, Edward. She is more outspoken and has much harsher views on young marriages."

"I'll take that as a no." Edward answered smugly.

"I will tell her, I just don't know how." I added turning around to face him. "Why don't we tell your family?"

Edward smiled catching her lips with his. "I'd like that."

I allowed my mind to wander as Edward drove us to his house. I really couldn't think of a way to tell my mom. Should I call her? Should I email her? Should I send her a telegram?

"I hate when you do that." Edward commented as he opened the car door for me.

"Do what?" I asked.

"Let your mind wander. It scares me. We don't have to get married if you don't want to." Edward added looking into her eyes.

I couldn't help but melt everytime I looked into his topaz eyes. And hated it when he doubted my commitment to him. "Edward, I want nothing more in the world to be your wife. My resistance to tell my mom has nothing to do with you, and all to do with my cowardliness." I explained.

"You are not afraid of telling a room full of vampires, but you're afraid of telling your mom." He clarified.

"Terrified." I stated with a small smile as I walked towards the house.

As soon as we walked into the room I found Carlisle and Esme on the couch speaking quietly. However, they quickly looked over at us.

"Can Bella and I speak with you for a few moments?" Edward asked.

"Sure, son." Carlisle responded with a warm smile as we both sat down across from them.

"We are getting married." Edward said with a huge grin putting his arm around me.

Esme immediately cross the room in a flash bringing me to an embrace. "Welcome to the family." She said as she turned to Edward beaming with pride.

I was unable to hear what they said to each other before Carlisle brought me into a hug. "You will make this family complete." He stated.

I smiled trying to stop the tears that were trying to escape my eyes. It wasn't long before the rest of the family had descended the stairs to join in the congratulations. Although, it felt wonderful to be accepted, I was still worried about my mother's reaction.

"It will all turn out alright." Alice said with a bright smile hugging me for the fifth time that evening.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"It will take her a while to accept it, but she wants you to be happy." Alice explained much to my relief.

"I am happy." I responded as I watched Edgar speaking with his brothers fumbling the phone in my hands.

“Then that’s all that matters, silly.” Alice added with another smile.

“I think you should call your Renee.” Esme stated as she watched me play with the phone.

“I just don’t want her to be disappointed.” I argued.

“Bella, I don’t know Renee, but as a mother.” She began looking fondly at her adoptive children. “I will always be happy if my children are happy. Go up to Edward’s room, and give her call. She’ll be happy just to hear from you.”

I knew Esme was right, I just didn’t want my happiness to fade away. I slowly walked to Edward’s room and sat on his bed. As I waited for Renee to pick up the phone, I tried to put a speech together. But I knew it would be hopeless.

“Hello” my mom greeted.

“Hi, mom. It’s Bella.” I answered happy to hear her voice.

“Hi, Bella. What a surprise?” She exclaimed “Is something wrong?” She quickly added in a somber tone.

“No, mom. Everything is good. Great actually.” I replied happy that Edward had silently crept in for moral support.

“You seem edgy, sweetheart. Are you alright?” She asked.

“Well, I called to tell you that me and Edward are getting married.” I let out happy to have it off my chest.

“Bella, you know that I love you.” My mom started. “But I can’t tell you that what you are doing is smart. You two are very young.”

“Mom, I love Edward in ways that I can’t begin to describe.” I interjected.

“I know you do, but I don’t want you going in expecting a fairytale. It takes a lot more to make a marriage work. You should be concentrating on college not on marriage.” She argued.

“Mom, I’m not a child, and neither is Edward. We both have decided to be together, and all I want is for you to be happy for us.” I pleaded.

After a minute or so of awkward silence, Renee sighed deeply. “I can’t believe my baby is getting married.” Was all that she replied.

A/N: Please let me know what you think of the story. This is uncharted territory for me, and I’m anxious to know what other people think.
