Chapter 5: The Secret

When the Evans mansion was quiet Ryan snuck out of his room and down the hall to his twin’s room.

“Shar….Sharpay, you awake?”

“Yeah,” Sharpay said opening the door. Ryan went inside and closed the door quietly behind him.

“What are we gonna do about Jeff?” Ryan asked.

“I don’t know,” Sharpay said. “We’ve tried everything to get rid of him.”

“And nothing’s working.”

“And mother won’t do anything about him,” Sharpay said. “She’s just too in love with to even care that he beats us.”

“Or her….” Ryan added. “Hey! Maybe we should just call the police!”

“What? Ry, we can’t do that!”

“Why not?”

“If he finds out that we called before they get here who knows what will happen?”

“Oh yeah,” Ryan said. “And it’s already hard enough to hide the bruises.”

“Yeah, it’d be pretty obvious if we’re dead,” Sharpay said.

“So we’re just gonna sit around and do nothing?” Ryan asked.

“I guess it’s our only choice for now,” Sharpay said disappointed.

“Actually, it is your only choice,” a man’s voice said from the doorway. The twins turned around in fear as Jeff stood there with a nasty look on his face….
