Warnings: Spoilers in Boktai 3, most notably the beginning. There may be a level of “controversial” material, sexuality being one of them, but please keep in mind that this is to entertain the masses.

Preface: It’s been hard trying to connect Boktai with Lunar Knights. However, with the latest English patch and the ability to ask friends who played it already, giving me more time to work instead of drudge through the annoying bike stages, things have become clear and vague at the same time. With that said…

Obligatory disclaimer that applies to the rest of the story: I do not own Boktai nor do I own any of the characters who do make appearances in it. I only own the characters I have created. The story line of this is non-canonical, meaning that the events have not, and will not (unless Hideo Kojima is watching in a Big Brother-esque way…) happen. There may be some inaccuracies. I will correct them if I am told what it really is.

The Dark seal on the wall was the bane of his existence. It had eliminated all hopes that he would escape the underground prison within minutes. But minutes turned into hours, hours into days, days in months, months into years… He had no way of telling what year it was; he lost count of that along with the months and the days. He was not robbed of his hours for there was always a few tiny patches of sunlight that miraculously seeped its way through the earth. He was always tempted to climb through to freedom, but he was always too weak to do so. Proper nourishment disappeared a long time ago, forcing him to rely on whatever the undead managed to sneak down. He almost resorted to feeding on the undead themselves but his master prevented him from doing so.

He truly wanted to die, but the infectious vampire blood kept him alive. The Darkness that he loathed kept him in further misery with each passing day, hour, minute, second…

“It’s hopeless… absolutely hopeless… That seal is never going to get broken.” He forever repeated, always hoping he would be proved wrong.

It was a split decision the immortal made at the last minute. Almost as if he had experienced an epiphany, he stopped the destruction of the sun. A vampire colleague, though weak to the sun’s rays, convinced him that it would only spiral into destruction for everyone. True, they believed in the Will of the Galaxy that proclaimed that everything must be destroyed, but the vampire knew his superior’s desires; he knew the Lord of Destruction wanted to live. He also knew that the bitter war between the mortals and immortals would continue to wage on, but the tiny glimmer of hope that the two sides would peacefully coexist shined in the vampire’s heart.

The sun continued its existence yet life on Earth was not as bright. True the humans had been saved from a guaranteed destruction by the hands of the vampires and the Eternal Vanagarndr, but the hope of liberty quickly diminished. The vampires broke through the solar barrier set up by a young witch and successfully drove the rebounding population of San Miguel away as they had more than ten years prior ago. And so, only a few brave warriors dare set out to find their missing companion…

All was quiet in the tiny graveyard. The cluttered tombstones made navigating the grounds nearly impossible for humans and undead alike. It was not unusual to see the occasion zombie stalking around as if it owned the place for it probably did. Those were quickly disposed and the group moved foreword to the isolated tombstone.

“He’s close, I can feel him!” A young girl exclaimed, her voice drenched with relief.

“Shut the hell up, we can too.” A second girl growled.

“Both of you, stop it. It won’t be long until the Immortals realize we’re here, even with Lady Gray’s cloaking, which, I must remind you two, has a time limit.”

“Do not worry, young Silas.” A cool voice said. “Lord Ratatoskr is too busy to pay attention to your activities. It’s full moon tonight.”

“What’sthat supposed to mean?” The first girl inquired.

“He’s playing with his toys tonight.”

The group of four paused; they had reached their destination. The dark energy gushing from the Dark Seal beneath the lone fixture pulsated as their arrival. The clouds above passed by, allowing the moonlight to penetrate through and light the area in a dim glow.

“We found him at last.” The second girl breathed. She brushed black strands of hair from her eyes, which greatly contrasted with the white layer on top. The violet band that separated the two colored hairs swayed in the wind.

The group stopped to rest for a bit before the first girl turned to Lady Gray.

“Lady Gray… Are you sure you’re okay with this?”

The woman only glanced at her. “To ensure the future, we need the Solar Blood to be passed down. And since Ratatoskr is too possessive of his doll…”

“Enough dilly-dallying. They’ll be here soon.” Silas growled, growing increasingly paranoid. “Do it, Nazne.”

“Okay, okay.” The white and black haired girl sighed. She raised a hand, gathering whirling dark energy in her palm. The ball of crackling energy soon formed a white star in the center, indicating that it was fully charged. Suddenly, she pressed the ball into the tombstone, turning it black. The marble shuddered violently before exploding into several pieces, cracking the seal below.

The two prisoners quickly noticed.

“The seal! It’s broken!!” the master exclaimed. His student warrior raised his gun in a slow, almost automatic motion.

“They’re…”

A faint blast was heard above ground as the tombstone collapsed and revealed a flight of stairs into the abyss.

“Ari.”

“Right!”

She ran down the flight of stairs, never pausing as she coughed at the sudden shift in air purity.

“DJ! Are you down here? DJ—AHH!”

She narrowly dodged the shot of solar energy.

“…Ally?” A hoarse voice croaked. She watched a pathetic creature crawl to her, revealing itself in the moonlight.

“DJ!”

The Solar warrior, the last hope of all humanity, was a tattered mess of skin, bones, and rags on the floor. The only things that were not beyond repair were the heirloom scarf and Solar Gun that he so dearly treasured. Ari bent down to meet his lifeless gray eyes.

“Django… What happened to you?”

“I don’t know. One day, I woke up and I was here.”

“DJ!” She cried out in horror. “You mean you don’t know how you got down here?”

“Uh… No?”

“He’s suffering from memory loss.” A sunflower explained, floating to the girl. “I fear it might have become permanent from being down here for...”

“Two years.” Ari sadly filled in. “We’ve suffered a lot because of what happened.”

“Two years?”

“Yeah… Come on, we gotta get out of here. There are some people waiting for us to return.”

She pulled Django onto her back and easily hoisted him up, nearly grimacing at his lack of weight. She ran back up the flight of stairs, careful not to hit Django’s head on the ceiling as she resurfaced. “Let’s go!”

Yes, it’s exactly as Legend of Sol goes. This goes hand in hand with that comic I’m half-assing, which matches in effort! Hurray! (End date: 2/7/08)
