I LIVE!

Ok, sorry I have been 'dead' lately everyone. There's a lot of crap going on right now and I haven't had a chance to write on here!

Also, this is a remake of that other Kotone story. And this is the one with Ag and Blossom, by the way.

You would never, not anywhere in the city of Greendale, find a pair of siblings that were as close as Kotone and Katsu Tanaka were. They looked partially alike because they had the same nose and were both tall and lean. But besides that, they couldn’t have been more different. Kotone was shy and always had trouble making friends. But she was pretty with her very light blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. Katsu, on the other hand, had emerald green eyes and red hair. He was very outgoing and almost always seemed to have a friend or two over. And he went everywhere with his Beagle, Doragon. Plus they were six years apart.

So, you would expect such different people to clash. On the contrary, they stuck together like glue. Katsu always picked Kotone up at school and they’d walk to the family resturaunt together where he would work and admire her many drawings. Then when it was time, they’d walk home together while their parents locked up.

On summer days you would see the two with their parents at the public pool. They would all be laughing and chatting in Japanese, which was their first language. Katsu could always be seen splashing and playing with his little sister.

Whenever Katsu had to mow the lawn, Kotone would sit out with him and keep him company, along with Doragon of course. And after he finished his yard work he could always count on a drawing of Doragon or their family or Katsu practicing his martial arts, which was what their family revolved around.

Katsu always seemed to be there for her. When some kids were making fun of her at the park, he walked right up to them and told them off and threatened to tell their parents. Meanwhile Doragon growled menacingly in the background, adding a nice touch.

Those kids didn’t mess with his sister ever again.

Kotone often thought of Katsu as her ‘guardian.’ She was the damsel in distress and he was her knight in shining armor. And Doragon was his trusty steed, who would act as guardian whenever Katsu went on a school trip and left his sister alone for a few days. She could always count on both of them.

Always.

One spring day Kotone sat in their front lawn. She was around six at the time and looked adorable. The front lawn sloped down and there was a stream that ran through their front yard, as well as the neighbors. She was wearing a flowery dress and was barefoot and sitting cross-legged. The shrubs up against the yellow house were blooming and a gentle breeze was blowing. Kotone was bent over a sketchpad and was immersed in what she was drawing. Meanwhile Doragon was sleeping soundly beside her.

When Katsu arrived home from soccer practice he saw this scene and smiled. “Kotone! What are you drawing this time?” He crossed the white bridge that led over the stream and walked to her and sank down at her side.

When he looked at the drawing he saw a strange sight. A small ball with long floppy ears and no legs. It had large eyes and a mouth and was arguing with, what looked like, a bulb with a face and four feet, but no legs.

“What is that?” Katsu asked, furrowing his brow. He patted Doragon absent mindedly as the dog awoke and hurried to his master.

Kotone shrugged and looked at him. “I dunno. I had a dream about them. It was funny. They were blowing pink bubbles and hitting each other with them!” She smiled at her brother. It wasn’t uncommon that she had dreams like these. She dreamed of large metallic serpents rising up out of the lake and a ‘plant girl.’ When Kotone didn’t dream about these strange creatures, she dreamt about far off places. Like the Himalayas or the Amazon Rainforests or the African Savannah. Or, in her worst dreams, a dark dungeon, a storm, or dark alley and a gun.

Katsu smiled back at her. “Come on. Lets go up to my room and play Go Fish. Winner gets a dollar.” He stood and he and his sister hurried into the house. Doragon hurried in after them, his tail wagging.

When Kotone was seven, digimon were discovered.

They were friendly creatures of all shapes and sorts. Tamers, children who looked after them, became common. As did the digimon. But there were a few digimon, powerful digimon, digimon that Katsu called ‘Hitler digimon’ that terrorized the digimon’s world. The Digital World. And, every now and then, a tamer would die at a digimon’s hand.

“I think it would be cool to be a tamer.” Katsu said one summer day during breakfast. He looked at his sister. “Don’t you Kotone?”

Kotone had been on the floor, bottle-feeding a large grey speckled puppy she had found. He was supposed to be a Great Dane would end up growing to a huge size. The young girl shook her head. “Too scary.”

Katsu smiled sadly. He knew his sister thought the idea of being a tamer was more like suicide than an adventure. Well… really… she thought any adventure meant suicide. “Right…” With that he resumed eating. He watched his sister feed and play with her new puppy, who she was now calling Jun, and sighed. She’s so… vulnerable. I hate to say it, but she is. The kids at her school know it. But what’s going to happen top her… if…

Katsu knew the chances were slim that he would die at a young age. Unless he got into some form of accident, he didn’t see how he could die. Still… what if he did? What would happen to his beloved little sister? So as Kotone played with Jun, Katsu prayed. He didn’t shut his eyes or clasp his hands together. He just watched her and prayed.

God, I want you to do something for me. If you decide to take me early, I want to still be able to protect my sister. She needs me, and I need her. Katsu prayed.

“Onii-chan, what are you doing?” Kotone asked. Her brother’s eyes were fixed on her and she’d just become aware of it.

Katsu smiled at her. “Nothing. Come on. Lets go to the pet shop and get this guy a tag and a collar. And I think Doragon needs another leash.”

With that the two children departed.

Awwww. Its sad because you know what's going to happen.

Chi: Do you have to do this all the time? Torture your characters and their family?

Yes. Its my thing, ok? No just tell them to review so we can all get on with our lives!

Chi: Pfft fine... review!
