I pity this chapter... I've had this done forever and forgot about it! Whoopsie!
XXXX
A few weeks passed. During that time Blossom went from Yuramon to a digimon called Tanemon, which looked like a bulb with four stumpy feet and no legs. But she could talk now. And she was extremely hyper.
On that particular day, Kotone and Blossom were walking through a forest in the Digital World. This particular forest surrounded the Digital Mountains. Kotone had gotten used to venturing the Digital World on her own. She’d met a tamer boy, Drake, and another boy named Leo who helped her train Blossom a bit and they taught her how to use her digivice as well. Which included how to make portals.
“Kotone, why are we here?” Blossom asked, hopping alongside her partner.
“I want to find something to draw.” Kotone said, looking around. “I have artist-block.”
“Artist-block?”
“Yeah. Writers get writers-block. I get artist-block. Meaning I can’t think of anything to draw. Normally I draw what I see, but I’ve done like fifteen drawings of you already.” Kotone explained, smiling at her digimon. Suddenly Kotone saw something up ahead.
A digimon.
Kotone hurried towards him. It was an Agumon. A very hurt Agumon at that. He had many cuts and bruises and burns. She gasped and knelt down beside him. “The poor thing!” She gingerly touched his arm. He was out cold, but not dead.
“What happened to him?” Blossom asked, hopping to Kotone’s side.
Kotone, who was having a flashback, slowly shrugged. “I don’t know. All I know is that he needs help.” She digitized her First Aid Kit, which she carried around with her in her digivice. Just in case. She pulled out some bandages and some medicine. One type for the cuts, another type for the burns.
“Don’t worry,” Kotone said gently, “your going to be just fine.” She began applying the medicine to the cuts, then wrapping them up. Every now and then she’d answer one of Blossom’s questions, but she would never stop working. After the cuts were taken care of, Kotone applied some medicine to the burns. Then she sat back and sighed, feeling very bad for the digimon.
“What happened to him?” Blossom asked again.
Kotone sighed again. “I’m not sure. I wish I knew. Then again… maybe I don’t.”
The digimon became more aware of his surroundings. He was aware of two female voices and someone applying medicine and bandages. He opened one eye and saw a girl. Light blonde hair and robin-egg blue eyes. She appeared about eleven or twelve. Beside her was a Tanemon with green eyes. The digimon didn’t say anything, he just stared.
Kotone suddenly recognized him. She remembered those emerald green eyes! He was that Agumon, the one from the Primary Village! What was his name again? Alan? Ash? Ag! That was it! She gave him a small sympathetic smile. “Hey there.”
Blossom looked at Kotone. “Hey, hey Kotone! He’s going to be ok, right?”
Kotone smiled. “Yes, he’ll be fine. Now you go play. But stay close, you hear me!” She watched as Blossom nodded (really she tilted her entire body forward) and started chasing a butterfly. Kotone looked back at Ag. “You poor thing.”
Ag blinked, then he remembered who she was. That very shy, very timid tamer girl he’d met a few weeks ago. The one who’d gotten the Yuramon. He managed to smile at her. “I’ll… I’ll be fine.”
Kotone watched as he pushed himself up, then fell on his back! Awwww! She could tell he was in pain, but at least he would live now. Kotone looked behind her to check on Blossom. She had given up on the butterfly and was now chasing after a grasshopper. Kotone smiled a bit, then looked back at Ag. “Your name is Ag, right?”
“Yup… that’s me.” Ag said, smiling up at her. “But how do you know my name when I haven’t the slightest clue what yours is?” He continued to smile. He refused to show any weakness. He wasn’t supposed to be weak. He was supposed to be strong.
Kotone smiled a bit. “You introduced yourself to me at the Primary Village.” She suddenly noticed for some reason, she wasn’t stuttering or blushing or apologizing for random little things. She smiled a bit more. “I’m Kotone.”
Blossom, seeing the digimon was awake, hopped over to them. “Why are you so beat up?” She didn’t seem to notice Kotone sighing and slapping her forehead. Blossom hopped into her tamer’s lap. “Hi! I’m Blossom!”
“Ah. Nice to meet you.” Ag said, forcing himself into a sitting position. He was trying hard to hide the pain on his face, but he still smiled at Blossom. “Nice to meet you Blossom. Its nice to see you out of that egg shell. And the reason I’m like this is because of a BlackAgumon named Bin.”
“Who is Bin?” Kotone asked. She blushed. “Sorry… I’m still new.”
“Its ok.” Ag said, smiling at her. “Bin is an evil digimon, very bad news for the Human and Digital World. All we know he’s after the descendants of the Overseers, guardians from long ago. As a protector of the Digital World I thought I could confront him and stop him. But he surprised me with his strength and threw me off one of the mountains.”
“Why if I could get to Champion-” Blossom began angrily.
“But you can’t, so don’t say it.” Kotone said, looking at her partner. “I wouldn’t let you fight him anyway. I wouldn’t risk losing you.”
“Well… thanks for the help. But I’m going up there and giving that digimon a piece of my mi-GAH!” Ag said, trying to get to his feet. But he ended up falling down, gripping his side. “On second thought, maybe I’ll just sit here and hope he doesn’t come looking for me.” When the pain subsided, he smiled at Kotone and Blossom. “So what are you two doing here in the first place?”
Kotone looked at him with a concerned expression, but she managed to smile at him. “We’re just walking around.” With that she started to stroke the leaves on Blossom’s head and hum something.
Blossom’s eyes began to sag. “Kotone… what are you humming… your making me sleepy…”
“Your lullaby, silly. I sang it to you every night when you were a Yuramon.” Kotone answered.
Ag heard the humming as well. He was a Rookie, therefore a ‘child.’ And the lullaby seemed to be like magic, making both digimon extremely tired. Ag fought his though, while Blossom let her eyes sag. He smiled at Kotone. “Sounds like a lovely lullaby… a lot better than mine.” Somehow just watching this girl made him forget about wanting to go after Bin and get his revenge…
Blossom yawned. “Kotone… I’m sleepy now…”
Kotone smiled. “Thanks, Ag.” She smiled at Blossom. “Ok, how about I sing it and make you fall asleep?”
Blossom nodded.
Kotone smiled and sang softly:
“My sweet
My dear
My precious little one
Sleep my child
Don’t say a word
Let your dreams take wing
And fly through the night
On this lullaby
My sweet
My dear
My precious little one
Sleep my child…
Sleep”
Kotone’s voice was marvelous and half-way through Blossom was asleep. Kotone smiled. She was just too adorable!
Ag listened to the lullaby. He could never remember his childhood. Mainly because he didn’t think he had much of one. He remembered being thrown into a land of rejected digimon as a Koromon, and a portal that lead him to the Digital World. But that was it. So seeing the dedication this girl put towards her partner… yet they had barely known each other for three weeks… a tear escaped his eyes. Ag quickly wiped it away.
“Wow Kotone… that was great…”
Kotone didn’t see. She smiled at Ag and blushed. “Thank you…” She sighed. “I wished all digimon could have partners. At least the good ones. That would be my number two wish if I ever met a genie.” She smiled at Ag again. “Your really nice. I don’t see who could stand to hurt you.”
How she knew what he was thinking about, Ag never figured out. “Its ok, not all digimon need partners. A lot of us are content with being on our own… and I’m used to getting hurt.” He paused and looked at her. “What would your first wish be?”
Kotone seemed to fall. She looked at the sky through the branches of the trees. “To talk to my brother again… he… he died a few years ago.” This time she felt tears come to her eyes. She fought them back, trying not to cry.
“Oh…” Ag said, now sorry he asked. “I’m sorry to hear that… losing someone you love is very hard… but you have to remember their always with you. In there.” He pointed to her heart. Ag sighed sadly. “I lost my teacher thanks to Bin. He was the only one I’d ever considered a father. I feel really lost without him. I don’t know what to do without him…”
Kotone nodded. “I know the feeling. My big brother, he was always my guardian. You know? When I lost him… it was like I’d lost everything I held dear to me… I felt so… empty. I still do, actually. Not to mention I have to fulfill his responsibilities… as well as mine.” She sighed and decided to get off the subject. “Are you hungry?” She digitized some sushi that she had grabbed before she left the house.
“A little…” Ag said. Really he was starving, but he wasn’t going to say so. “I still need to get stronger… a lot of people count on me to keep them safe… I guess I have my own responsibilities.” He smirked.
Kotone handed him some. “You can train and get stronger. At least, when your better.” She smiled. “We have a lot in common, eh?”
Ag took the sushi and smiled. “Thank you.” He popped it in his mouth. At first he thought it tasted a bit like rubber, but then he began to taste the fish. He nodded. “Yeah… guess we do.” Then he realized he’d talked with his mouth open. “Whoops… sorry.”
Kotone plopped some of the sushi in her mouth as well, then set some aside for Blossom. Kotone laughed. “Its fine. I had a brother, remember?” She looked up at the mountains. “So, I’m guessing Bin is very powerful?”
“He can destroy a digimon at the level of Mega if he wanted to plus he has control of a dark army that is slowly taking over the Digital World…” Ag said calmly. “Yeah… pretty powerful.”
Kotone hid her rising fear. “Very powerful! You could have been killed!”
“I know, but I wasn’t.” Ag said, smiling at her. “So its all ok.”
“Get away…” Blossom moaned.
Kotone looked at her curiously, then realized her partner was talking in her sleep. “Keep away from her… no! Get away! No! KOTONE!”
Kotone quickly shook her digimon. “Blossom! Blossom wake up!”
Blossom’s eyes snapped opened and she looked around. “Where’s Bin?”
“Bin was never here.” Kotone told her gently. “You were having a nightmare Blossom…”
“Oh. In that case, can I have some sushi?”
Kotone giggled and gave her some.
“I’m sorry if I scared you with all that talk about Bin.” Ag said, looking kindly at her. “I didn’t mean to.”
“I’m not scared of anything.” Blossom said bravely. “Well… the dark. And that big noise that happens when it rains. What’s it called again Kotone? Thunker?”
“You mean thunder?”
“Yeah! That’s it.”
Ag chuckled. “I see.”
Suddenly Ag seemed to freeze. He looked towards the brush. “Something-or someone-is coming…”
