S/N (sister's note): This is Charlene Bates-PropertyOfFrodo, Elaine Dawkin's sister. Just wanted to let you all know that my sister was iffy about putting this one up, however, she did agree to it. It is not her best work, it is just one of her funnier ones. It is not meant to be taken seriously and was only written for fun. For a poem that SHE is really proud of, please check out "Thoughts of a Traitor". Thanks!

An Ode to Merry (an acrostic)

Maybe he is slightly aloof,

Even a bit - a little uncouth,

Render him as you well deem,

I’d say he’s more of a girl’s dream!

A hobbit like him; who can find?

Dashingly handsome and startlingly kind,

Oh! What hairy feet and gorgeous eyes!

Colored so much brighter than all the other guys’.

Boating on the Brandywine River all day,

Roaming the forest, all happy and gay,

And never a worry; never a care,

Never knowing any despair.

Darling Merry! Oh, please marry me!

You know I will be a good wife and keep you company!

Better I am than all the other hobbitmaidens,

Ugly and mean they are as black ravens.

Could I ever be so lucky as to be yours?

Kiss me and I’ll do all your house chores!

Definition of gay in line #10: happy, joyful (not queer or slash)
