We’re going somewhere

We could start this story with “once upon a time” but that’s for children’s books and fairy tales. This isn’t a child’s book and certainly no fairy tale and I’ll assume you’re no child.

Our story begins in a small, boring town in modern day California, in this small boring town lived a young woman with short messy dark hair, pale skin, warm green eyes her name... Well she changed her name; she thought it was stupid so she changed it to Ruby Moon the third. Everyone that knew Miss Ruby said she was weird and she dressed like she was at a rock concert.

On this day Ruby was downtown helping set up for something called the “shower festival” where her town celebrates a meteor shower that comes around once every seven years. People would gather down town to watch the meteors fall, “Dad Quit messing around with the camera!” scolded Ruby, she hated being on camera and having her picture taken “Aww c’mon princess you’re so cute” taunted Ruby’s younger sister Angelique, Ruby Groaned and kept on setting up chairs. Unlike Ruby’s pale complexion and dark hair Angelique was tan, thin with short cinnamon colored hair. She was considered the epidemy of cool she had all designer shoes, bags and sunglasses and extremely popular to boot Ruby and Angelique were always fighting no one knew they related when they were in high school.

As Ruby was helping set up a snack booth out of the corner of her eye in a shop window she saw what looked like a ghost floating the length of a store window it had glowing eyes and torn robes holding a swinging lantern Ruby blinked the “ghost” disappeared “I must be more tired than I thought” she said to herself as the day wore on she forgot all about the “ghost”.

Meanwhile in a land unknown to man a young man with sandy blonde hair, sky blue eyes and long elf like ears was riding on his horse named Epona towards a castle in the distance as he rode towards his destination the sky was beginning to get a tinge of orange and grey the first stars were beginning to dot the sky, a girl with long auburn hair and a crème colored dress waved as the young man passed by “Link!!” she called out to him waving cheerfully as he rode by. The young man named link smiled and waved back.

By the time Link reached the Castle Gates the Gigantic drawbridge had been drawn up for the night and the torches lit leaving the young man out in the cold.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Back in the not so magical town in California, Ruby was just about done setting up booths and chairs when she looked at her cell phone and ran home to change for the festival, she came back wearing a puffy black skirt , black shirt with a bloody heart with a sword in front of it , fishnet stockings with combat boots. Night Fell and People began to gather down town as midnight approached people waited anxiously for the spectacle to start “any minute now” sighed Ruby sitting and waiting for the meteor shower to begin, Angelique checked her cell phone again no sooner had she checked, a splash of light raced across the sky soon another then, another until the night sky was filled with streaks of light racing across the starry sky. Suddenly, a meteor changed course and smashed a booth in the back of the festival a second meteor struck the stage pretty soon all the meteors changed course and began destroying the town , people scattered in all directions by now Angelique and Ruby were running for their lives, they dove into a shops door way when a meteor struck the shop next door, just as Angelique looked up and saw a meteor rocketing towards them Ruby shoved her younger sister out of the way, the meteor impacted Ruby head on, she felt her body go cold and she felt herself being picked up and float away gently “I’m dead…” thought Ruby as she felt her body falling into the darkness.

The land Link lived in was called Hyrule it had only a few major cities only one was inhabited by humans who called themselves Hylians, the others were cities inhabited by mythical creatures. In Hyrule there were no such things as sky scrapers or cell phones there was no such thing as electricity apart from thunder storms and the creatures that emitted electrical currents. Hyrule was very peaceful its inhabitants co-existed with each other Meanwhile Link was swimming in Lake Hylia when out of the blue the skies over lake Hylia darkened and a distant rumbling filled the air “Perfect” thought link sourly “now its going to rain” he thought as he lay naked on the grass staring at the skies waiting for the rain, all at once the sky was filled with streaks of light as Link watched the meteor shower ,one of the meteors crashed in the lake splashing water everywhere the sky returned to its original pale blue. Link Picked up his sword and shield and swam to the crash site to investigate, much to Links surprise instead of a precious stone or some strange life form floating on the surface of the water was an unconscious, strangely dressed young woman. Link took the young woman and swam back to shore, Link started a fire to begin cooking supper, and just as the fire was lit the young woman woke up and

Saw Link, screamed and scrambled onto her feet and ran away “Wait! Wait!” link called after her haphazardly putting on his clothes and running after the young woman, luckily Ruby tripped and fell back into the cold lake. Link pulled the young woman out of the water, where she screamed again this time link grabbed her left wrist and pulled her down where she continued to struggle and kick “Let me go!” she shouted and slapped Link across the face, simultaneously he grabbed her other wrist, that’s when he seized her right wrist tightly she stopped moving and suddenly stared at him. His long blonde hair fell over his face, breathing heavily. Suddenly Ruby realized he was on top of her, she felt her self grow red in the face “He isn’t bad looking... Wait what I am saying!?” Ruby thought to her self “You can get off of me now” she said quietly “oh um sorry” replied Link getting off of her, neither of them spoke for a long moment finally she spoke “where am I” asked the young woman suddenly “You’re in lake Hylia” replied Link as they walked back to the campfire site Ruby gave him a blank stare “what part of California is that?” asked Ruby curiously, Link laughed humorously “California? We’re in Hyrule” chuckled Link. Something Dropped into Ruby’s throat, she felt her heart drop into her stomach.
