This is a pretty major twist on an old story line. I honestly hope I twisted it enough to the point of unboringness.
Thalissa stretched her arm out, feeling the wiry muscle go taut and hard, and relishing in the feeling of knots loosening. The sky was covered with dark, heavy rain clouds, threatening to let loose at any moment. The first raindrops fell, pinging off her armor. She liked the sound, but sat under the numerous trees anyways, and watched the lightning.
“It’s a yucky-wet day for training.” said a voice from behind her that she knew to be Lewa’s.
“Mmm…” she mumbled, standing up to her full height, and still not quite awake. Next to Lewa, she was very short, and only the thought that she was taller than all the matoran cheered her up. Overall though, Lewa was right. It was a nasty day.
“Need a fly–ride back to Ga-Koro?” he asked, a little moody. She knew he hated the rain; it was worse on the stormy seas.
“No, I think I’ll walk,” she said. For a human, she was fairly normal, about 5’6. But as a Toa, she was abnormally short. Her silver-blue armor glinted faintly in the gray light radiating from the clouds.
She didn’t know she was a human. She had come here very young, and couldn’t remember anything from those confusing days. Memorizing the matoran language, getting used to a predominantly male society; now it came naturally that she had to hunt and gather her own food, and that she was a strange height didn’t bother her. She had armor, loose full leaf garments underneath, and a sword. No element or mask. That never really bothered her either. As far as she knew, it had always been that way. She saw the silver sands stretching away to the lily pads where the Ga-matoran huts were. Hers was a bit larger; face it she was a bit larger. The hut she had was full of things she had collected in her fourteen years; food, small statues she had carved, a stone tablet that was her diary, you name it, she had it.
She plunged her hand into a bucket of lukewarm water. It was full of seaweed. She promptly pulled a handful out, and plastered it to the roof. It had been leaking all night. As soon as she was in, she pulled off her heavy armor, wearing it for fourteen years had done a lot for her physical strength, and she sometimes beat Tahu now, and propped her sword in the door. Not much to do now, at least not in this weather. She could just sleep…
Splash! Talk about your rude awakenings. She groaned and shifted on her seaweed cot. Once again, a big wave of cool, clear water hit her, and this time she cracked open her eyes. Gali was standing over her, smiling the elder sister smile Thalissa was now used to. “Oooh,” she groaned. “What is it??”
Gali just smiled at her sister’s reaction. “Meeting at the Kini Nui at sun high. You have an hour.”
Thalissa sighed in defeat, angry that she’d slept a full day, and shrugged into her armor, grabbing her sword on the way out. It was beautiful day, and she was sure it would merit many surprises…
Tell me, honestly, what you think. Please!
