I sat casually at the food court, munching on cheesy chilli fries and reading the main Tokyo newspaper. I was not immersed in the horoscope page, however. I was watching them. Kai and Rei. How I hate those names together. Kai doesn’t deserve him! Kai gets everything. Not fair not fair not fair.

They were at Pier 1 Imports together, buying stuff for their love shack, a.k.a the godawful ugly apartment building they lived in, which they paid far too much for, which I knew because I called there and pretended I was interesting in renting.

Oh look Rei is looking at silver lined off-white tea mugs for them to drink out of. I think I’ll stick one down his throat. But I love Rei, I mustn’t hurt him, no matter how I angry I get. Something warm is running down my hand. A squashed cheese fry. I tossed the fry on the ground and looked away from the happy couple, to the other happy couple in the mall today. Hillary and Selima ran around Wet Seal merrily, giving the salesgirls hell with all the things they were trying on. Scrumptious distraction. But nothing could distract me from Rei. My eyes were drawn to him like magnets.

Kai was whispering to him. He was laughing. I was fuming. I’ll kill him.
