It's one of the things he likes about the station. It’s spring, the sunlight filtering in through all the windows, illuminating the dust floating lazily through the air. Sam hears footsteps behind him in the early afternoon-lit hallway and turns, seeing Gene striding to catch up with him, coat flaring out with every long step. Walking in front of the window set high up on the wall, he's backlit, dust flowing and parting around him, features dark and unlit. He claps a hand on Sam's shoulder as he catches up to him, landing too hard, squeezing too tight, and he leads Sam outside into the blinding sunlight for another day at work.
