Notes: A little drabble that’s been poking away at my brain as I try to finish my much longer fic.

She tentatively held her hand out for the crone of a woman. The fortune-teller cradled the hand between spindly fingers, letting her thumb caress the lines of the pie marker’s palm.

"Don’t fret. I don’t judge – wouldn’t do for me, in my line of work."

Mrs. Lovett gave a small, childlike smile.

The woman clicked her tongue, "Dearie, you’ll be betrayed be love." She looked up with such pity and sorrow, "So deep a desire can only burn you."

She blushed, snapping back her hand, "I’d say you have bake ovens confused with bed sheets." Dropping two pence in the pot, she fled.
