Lucy was happily asleep on her cot when Prudence and Sadie pounced onto her. It had to be around twelve, and she had just drifted into dream land. She opened her eyes slowly, looked at them, and pulled her blanket over her head. "Whaaat?" Lucy croaked out, trying to fall back asleep. Prudence quickly pulled the blankets off of her head and smirked at her.

"Luce, there are absolutely no men in this house at all." Sadie said with a wicked smile. "Do you know what we could do?"

"Oh, I don't know." Lucy rolled her eyes. "Sleep?" But then Sadie's first setence came to mind: no men in this house...No Jude? Before she could stop herself, Lucy asked, "Jude's not here?"

Prudence and Sadie exchanged a look as Lucy blushed. Sadie finally said, "Look, I have a bottle of Jack Daniels and endless amounts of ice cream and chocolate. We are going to have a girl's night, whether you like it or not. Now get out of bed and come into my room." Sadie and Prudence stood up and disappeared. Lucy sighed, closed her eyes, and, finally realizing that she couldn't sleep, gave in and woke up. She realized that this was her first time in Sadie's room, since Sadie was so secretive. She was actually very curious about what Sadie had in there.

Lucy walked in and flopped herself onto Sadie's bed, right next to Prudence. Prudence grinned at her and handed her a glass of whiskey. Lucy cautiously took the drink into her hands and took a sip. It was absolutely disgusting, but it got to her immediately. Then again, this was the first time she ever had hard liquor. She had only drank champagne once before. Good little Lucy.

"So, Lucy, Lucy, Lucy..." Sadie smirked as she set down her drink. "Do you care to explain your situation with Jude? Or are we going to have to get you absolutely wasted to get your drunken confession?"

Lucy smiled. "There really is nothing to tell. Jude and I...we're just friends. Honestly. And sure, maybe I have noticed that he's good looking, and sure, maybe we do spend a lot of time together--"

"Such as every waking moment?" Prudence supplied.

"--but that doesn't mean anything. I mean, Sadie, you spend tons of time with JoJo, and you guys aren't exactly a couple, right?"

Prudence's eyes widened, and Lucy could tell that this was a question that interested her. Both of their eyes looked at Sadie with great interest. Sadie had a sheepish grin plastered on her face.

"Well, actually, um.." Sadie gulped. "We're...we've actually been seeing each other lately. And, you know, it's not anything big, but he's a nice guy. And those are really hard to find. But, for now, it's just a fling."

Prudence looked down, disappointed. But when Sadie looked at her, she forced a smile. "And what about you, Pru? You and Max?"

"Oh please." Prudence ran a hand through her hair. "Max...he's sweet and cute. But he's just not the type of guy that you contemplate your life with. He's the type of guy you sleep with one night, and the next day, you can pretend like nothing happened. He's just too casual for me."

"Well, I don't know." Lucy said. "I think he likes you."

Prudence laughed. "How old are we here? If he liked me, he could tell me. And like I said, I'm just not that interested in Max." Or men in general.

Sadie sighed and ruffled Prudence's hair. "Well, sweetpea, you're gonna have to settle soon. With me and JoJo, and Lucy and Jude--"

"Hey!" Lucy protested.

"--I don't want you to be the only single person in this house."

Prudence smiled at Sadie, but Lucy noted that the type of smiles at Prudence gave Sadie were the type of smiles that Lucy gave Jude, or that Sadie gave JoJo..and then, Lucy finally realized it. But even when her eyes widened, she kept her mouth shut.

"We're out of chocolate." Sadie said. "I'll got load up."

When Sadie exited the room, Lucy waited a few minutes to make sure she was gone before asking, "So, how long have you...you know, had those feelings for her?"

Prudence's eyes widened, but she sighed and said, "I don't know..since the day I met her. She's just...she's crazy. And wild. And...she's..."

"Sadie." Lucy supplied, figuring no words could describe that incredible force that was her landlady. "And, uh, do you plan on telling her?"

Prudence closed her eyes and leaned against the headboard. "I considered it. But then I realized, it would only ruin things. And after what she said about JoJo...I guess it's better to just...you know, keep it to myself. Maybe someday." Prudence stopped abruptly as she heard Sadie's footsteps approaching. When she walked in, Sadie looked from Prudence to Lucy and said, "So what are we walking about?"

"Um." Prudence bit her lip, and then she exclaimed, "Lucy likes Jude!"

Lucy would've been mad, but then she realized: this wasn't Jude or Max she was hanging out with. Women just knew things that guys had to eventually catch on to. She could deny it all she wanted, but they weren't dumb. And considering she was now the only person who knew Prudence's secret, she figured she could let Prudence get away with it.

So that night, Prudence, Lucy, and Sadie drink and shared secrets. And it was around three in the morning when Max, Jude, and JoJo all came back from their guys night. So they all sat in a circle. And this time, there was no question why Lucy and Jude sat next to each other, and why Prudence sat next to Sadie and not next to Max, and why Sadie kept grabbing JoJo's hand.

And after that night, there was no more questions between their group at all.

It's amazing what one drunken night can do.
