“We’re going on tour with who?!” I asked.
I was stunned. Shocked! I couldn’t believe what I had heard. We were going on tour with a band that has a whole different set of values then we do.
“What I think Joseph is trying to say is, Unspoken has a different fan base then us. The tour might not work out.” Kevin added.
Different fan base? HA! Different everything!
“I kinda like them.” Nick spoke up. “They might be different then us, but their music is great.”
I rose up out of my chair.
“But they’re the complete opposite of us!”
“Joe calm down.” My dad reassured me. “Those girls might not be like what the media makes them seem like. Plus this might bring you boys some male fans.”
This is nuts! My dad is actually approving of this band. All three of them drink…illegally, and their not ashamed of it. There were “rumors” about one of them being pregnant last month. What the hell? I don’t want my fans being exposed to this and neither does Kevin or Nick!
“I’m in.” Nick said. “I like their music, and they seem pretty down to earth. They can open for us.”
“You never talk and this is when you decide to?” I asked him.
He opened his mouth just as the words “I’m in too.” Came from Kevin.
“You too?!”
They all looked at me for a response.
“Ugh. Guys their not like us!”
“Joseph. We don’t know why they do the things they do. Maybe they’re like this for a reason. Maybe you boys can be the key to fixing their problems.”
“But.”
“Joe. If God can forgive them, so can you.” Kevin cut me off. “Plus you said it yourself you like their music.”
I do like their songs. It’s just them I don’t like.
“Fine. I’m in I guess. But I don’t have to like it.” I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed.
It’s too early for this.
“Great!” My dad said. “Now tomorrow morning you boys will be going into the recording studio to help promote the tour.”
“How is going into the studio going to help promote the tour?” Kevin asked confused.
“Well the label wants you to re-release “when you look me in the eyes” with the girls.”
“Oh great! Now we can poison our best song.” I said sarcastically.
“Joseph.” Kevin said. “Why are you acting like this. These girls are trying to live the same dream we are! The least we can do is help them.”
“Help them!” I grabbed the newspaper with a picture of the lead singer in arms of a guy being pulled out of a car. “Looks like this guy has already tried.”
I got up and walked out of the room. This tour isn’t going to be good. It’s not going to be good at all.
