A/N: Well, here it is: the final chapter. Remember, there is a sequel story that I'll begin real soon. It's going to be called "In Joy and Sorrow", and it takes place 5 years after the end of this short chapter. So, if you wanna read more of the misadventures with me and Tony, make sure to keep an eye out for that story and the resulting chapters. Anyways, for this chapter, there's really nothing to say, since it's short and to the point. Well, I'd better put a little afterthought at the bottom, since I'm sure there's bound to be curious readers at the end of the chap. In the meantime, enjoy the last chapter.
Chapter 14
Two months later, I was asleep in my bed with Tony snuggled up beside me, when suddenly I felt a strong pain. My eyes shot open, and I gasped in both pain and surprise. Tony opened his eyes and squinted at me in the dark. “What’s wrong, honey?” he asked, still half-asleep.
I put one hand on top of my stomach, which had gotten even bigger by now. “I… I think it’s time,” I said softly.
“Time?” Tony looked at the clock. “It’s four in the morning.”
I could feel another pain coming. “No, I mean it’s time time. The baby, remember?”
Tony was suddenly wide-awake. “Why didn’t you say so?” He practically leaped out of bed, and promptly tripped over something.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the pain came again, and once it passed I took a deep breath. I knew my water hadn’t broken, so fortunately I’d awakened in the early stages of labour. “Tony, can you please get up and help me?” I asked, realising I sounded angrier than I felt. “I don’t think I can get very far on my own.”
Tony stumbled to his feet. “Hang-hang on, I’ll call for an ambulance.” He started fumbling around for his phone.
I clenched my teeth as I felt another pain coming, this time a lot stronger than the first two. I knew it was a matter of time before my water broke, and it would quickly become a big mess if I didn’t get out of bed. “Tony,” I managed to say thru my teeth, “there’s a hospital on the grounds, right?”
“Yeah.”
“If I can just get over there, we’ll be fine.” I wanted to say more, but the pain came rather quickly, and I gasped again.
Even in the dark, I could tell Tony was shaking out of fear and uncertainty. “Wh-what should I do?”
“First of all, turn on the light. Second, if you can carry me to the hospital, that’d be grand. If not, there is a wheelchair in the storage closet on this floor. If you can help me get on that, we’ll probably get there even faster.”
Suddenly the lights came on, and I had to shut my eyes. Unfortunately, once I did, another wave of pain hit, and I lay back on the bed. I knew by now I wouldn’t even be able to stand, and Tony was so nervous and scared he’d be of little help. I could only hope he’d paid attention to what I had said. “W-wait here a minute and I’ll get the wheelchair,” Tony said from the doorway.
“I don’t think I’m going anywhere anytime soon,” I pointed out.
“Y-yeah, that’s true.” Tony bolted out the bedroom door and I counted the seconds until he returned.
I had gotten to forty-five or so when I felt another wave of pain, and something told me within the next two waves of pain, the baby would really start coming. I tried to start counting again, but lost count after fifty this time. I had been hit with waves of pain many times now, and I was getting scared as to where Tony could have gone. When I gritted my teeth as another wave hit, even harder than before, I could barely see Tony come back into the room with the wheelchair.
“S-sorry it took a while,” he stammered, coming to my side to help me out of bed. “I couldn’t find the storage closet, and once I did, I saw Janet and she asked me what—“
“I don’t care!” I snapped, wiping some of the perspiration from my forehead. “Just get me to the hospital; one more wave of pain and this kid’s comin’ out.”
Tony visibly jumped at the statement, and tried to get me to the hospital as quickly as he could. Fortunately, since apparently he had to explain the situation to at least Janet, several of Tony’s employees came to help out. A few stopped Tony to talk to him while Janet took control of the wheelchair and got me to the doctor a lot faster than I knew Tony would have.
The entire time this was going on, I tried my best to keep from feeling another wave of pain, but as soon as we entered the emergency room, I felt the pain hit very hard, and almost immediately afterwards, I felt my water break. I tried to say something about it, but all I could manage was a whimper. Fortunately the doctor notised what had happened and quickly helped me onto the hospital bed. While the doctor tried to console me as another strong wave of pain hit, all I could think about was Tony and where he could be.
After a few minutes of being wracked with labour pains over and over, the doctor announced the baby was finally crowning. I looked around the room quickly, but Tony was still nowhere to be found. I felt a tear trickle down my face, and I closed my eyes. I would be alone for the birth of our first child. Suddenly I felt a strong but gentle hand wipe away my tear, and I opened my eyes to see Tony standing beside me. I realised what had kept him were the procedures he had to follow to be in the ER with me. He was wearing one of those goofy hospital scrubs, and although he was supposed to be wearing a surgical mask, he had pulled it off and was smiling at me.
“Sorry to have kept you waiting,” he said softly.
I couldn’t help but smile, even though I was hurting pretty badly. “It’s okay, as long as you are here.”
After about five or ten minutes of pushing, the baby was finally born, and the doctor made sure an assistant who’d come in earlier recorded the time and date. After he cleaned the baby and wrapped it in blankets, he handed it to me and said, “Congratulations, it’s a boy.”
I couldn’t help but weep with joy. I notised Tony was crying as well. I looked down at the bundle in my arms, and I asked, “What are we going to name him?”
Tony wiped his tears and cleared his throat. “I’d thought about naming him after me, or maybe my father.”
I looked up at him. “Is that the best you can think of?” I asked, momentarily forgetting the pain I just went thru. “Either Anthony or Howard?”
Tony shrugged. “Why not? I think it’d work.”
“Come on, be a little more original. I’ve got it: his first name can be Seth, and his middle name can be Anthony. That way if he wants to use your name later on, he can. So he could go by either Seth Stark or Anthony Stark, what do you think?”
“I… I guess. But the next one is my call.”
I stared at him in shock. “Next one? What do you mean?”
Tony gave me a sly smile. “Exactly what it sounds like.”
I laughed. “Let’s worry about this one first, alright? If we decide to have another one, then we’ll have had time to think about it.”
“Alright.” Tony pretended to look upset, but his expression soon changed to pride as he gazed at his son. “So we’re naming him Seth Anthony Stark, right?”
I nodded. “Right.”
“Where’d you come up with Seth?”
I grinned mischievously. “I’ll tell you later.”

A/N: Alrighty, for those who are wondering, even though IRL I really don't want kids, if I ever had one and it was a boy, I want his name to be Seth. Reason? Seth is kinda based on Set, which is where the name Seto (Kaiba) comes from. Yeah, like my namesake, I wanna name my kid after Seto-kun, too. He's from the Anime series Yu-Gi-Oh, in case you didn't know. That's where I got KCC Rosenkreuz from, too... guess I forgot to mention that in the chap where I tell Tony that's my full name. KCC means KaibaCorp CEO and Rosenkreuz is the last name of the character Christian "Seto" Rosenkreuz from the GameCube game "Yu-Gi-Oh: The Duelist of the Roses". So now you all know.
Aaaaanywho... to those who actually bothered to read this story all the way thru, I want to thank you very much. I didn't get any outside help/inspiration with the story, so I can't really give anyone else credit, aside from the two people who've told me they've actually read the story. And remember, the sequel story is called "In Joy and Sorrow", so keep an eye out. Thanks again, and I'll see all of you in the next story!
