"I must be careful, lest I am rendered unable to return. I don't want to lose them. My Black and White selves...the true fun lies in having them both."-Tyki Mikk (D.GRAY MAN episode 39 AND 36)
He coughed behind a white surgical mask and grimaced, closing his eyes as he tightened his hold around the now warm metal.
Suddenly, the scent of cigarette smoke filled the air and a hand clasped his shoulder tightly. The boy's eyes snapped open to meet a tall darked haired man with fingerless gloves leaning over him and smirking like he had just won the lottery.
"Enjoying your present?"
He smiled all the wider and reached up to ruffle the dirty blonde hair, chuckling toothily around his cigarette. “Aren’t cha glad that you didn’t give it away to that white haired guy in the silver coat, eh Lise?”
Lise smiled behind his mask and nodded, fingering the button hanging around his neck.
"Yeah, it's so pretty!"
His grin fell and he flipped the gold piece around, revealing the engraving. Tyki winced and scratched the back of his neck as Lise continued "But I wanna know who is Kevin Yeegar? Why's his name on the necklace?"
Tyki froze and frowned slightly, the tip of his cigarette burning out.
“Ah yes…Kevin Yeegar.”
"So here is where it begins...General Yeegar." A tall brunette clad in a fine black silk suit breathed as he approached the bound man, a cigarette caught between his dark lips as he snickered.
Tyki exhaled a cloud of gray smoke and drew a knife from his pocket, fingering the handle lovingly. He placed a hand on the back of the general's neck and pointed the tip down, gently tracing a long thin scar that ran down Yeegar's shoulder.
Biting his lip, Tyki drove the blade down deep, carving out the words "God Hunt" into the old man’s wrinkled flesh.
Yeegar screamed as blood burst from his skin like a withheld spring, splattering the Noah's face and clothing and spilling out onto the ground. More screams as Tyki tore the tip through a shoulder blade, the cracking of fragile bone against solid steel. Blood gushed from the tears, flooding the Belgium air with the dirty scent of copper.
Tyki inhaled and dragged the tip up and down his spine, poking each of the vertebre individually as he watched the blood trailing slowly down the snow white cross the man had been tethered to like a slaughter lamb.
"Send the message along, General." He whispered into the man's ears, "Teez."He called, watching as one of the many fluttering purple butterflies overhead dove down with a whoosh, landing gracefully on the tips of his out-stretched fingers.
"Don't kill him, Teez...but make sure that he will eventually die. A nice slow and painful death." He murmured, shoving the butterfly into his side and watching as the man's body convulsed, shuddering as the teez dug through his insides, knawing on his defenseless innards.
"Aah...AAHHHHH!" Yeegar coughed, blood bursting from his lips as he screamed, dripping down his naked front.
A few yards back, Road twirled Lero around and rolled her eyes as the old man continued to shriek and squirm, the wounds on his back bleeding even more with the increased movement. "And you told me that I went overboard, Tyki." she muttered, covering up a yawn as she turned on her heel, swinging Lero over her shoulder.
"Well, let's go. There's plenty of Innocence left out there to destroy and any one of them could be The Heart."
Sighing, Tyki jumped down from the cross and was about to straighten his jacket when he happened to look down at his once nice white gloves.
Tiny rivets of red had dribbled down his blade stained the nice clean silk that he so lovingly cherished. Scowling, he tossed the knife away and sighed again. "Damn...there goes another pair." He hissed, ripping the two off and tucking them into his pocket and sweeping his hair back neatly before replacing his black top hat on his head.
Road smiled. "You can do that later, right now we've got to find my main target."
Tyki nodded and dusted off his coat. "Yeah yeah." He muttered as he started towards the waiting carriage.
He paused midstep, he feeling something soft under the heel of his shoe. He glanced down to find the general's discarded jacket, embroided with gold trimmings and the cross seal of the exorcist’s Black Order emblazoned on the left hand side.
He knelt down and fingered the expensive material. "I bet the Vatican paid a boatload for these uniforms...such a waste of money." He was about to drop the coat when he noticed the golden buttons lining the front. He blinked and tapped the surface of one with his nail before ripping it off altogether. Road raised an eyebrow at this "What the hell are you going to do with that?" She said, pouting as Tyki pocketed his prize and casually swaggered over to the fancy black carriage.
He smirked "I don't feel like telling you."
"AW! Why not!?" Road moaned, shaking Lero back and forth, the poor umbrella screaming "Road-sama! Please stop! I'm going to puke, Lero!" in the background. But Tyki just continued smiling "Because I don't want to." and flicked her forehead casually.
Road scowled and squeezed Lero to her chest as she manuvered around the other Noah and made her way to the black carriage. "It's about those three guys you're always with, isn't it?" She smirked upon seeing his grin immediately drop and his expression turn serious. "I know the Earl doesn’t like you being around them so much."
She giggled and hopped into the window seat, tossing Lero in the middle who cursed and whined "Road-sama..." She patted the last seat next to the open door and said “He says you always talk like a hick whenever he picks you up from that shitty little mining town.”
Shrugging, Tyki clambered into the carriage and leaned back against the plush, tilting the edge of his hat over his eyes and crossing both arms across his chest.
“Like I said, I don’t want to talk about it.”
"Yeegar is the name of the craftsman who made the necklace. Usually artists will put their names on the back of their work so that everyone knows who did it. It's pretty, right?"
Lise's eyes widened, the dark circles under the lids becoming more pronounced. "Wow...that probably means this really is valuable." he whispered, running his thumb across the surface.
Tyki nodded and inhaled one last time before tossing his cigarette to the ground and grinding it under his heel. "Anyway, shall we go wait for Momo and Crack to get off? I've got money today so we can eat something other than stale bread tonight." He patted his thinned out waistline and licked his lips. "Sound good, Lise?"
Lise raised an eyebrow "From your other job? Are you ever gonna tell us what that is? I mean what if it's really dangerous or something, more dangerous than the mines! You would tell us if it was something dangerous...right?"
Tyki smiled and straightened the glasses on his nose. "Maybe." He grinned again
Pouting Lise sighed. "Which is an adult's way of saying 'no'..." He closed his eyes and leaned back, swinging his legs back and forth as he gripped the bricks to keep himself upright.
Tyki placed his hand on Lise's head and knelt down to his height. He lifted his glasses up and looked the child straight in the eye, bright cigarette stained smile still in place "I will tell you... I will tell you eventually but for now you just have to trust me. As for danger...I'd say it's a little on the edge, but nothing too bad, not worse than the mines at least. My employer can't afford my death after all."
He snickered and ran a hand through his hair, his lips twitching at the edges as Lise blinked and watched wearily. Tyki scratched the back of his head when Lise continued to remain silent and sighed.
'At least...not yet...'
"Anyway, so shall we go pick the others up at the mine? It’s almost supper time and if we wanna eat tonight, we should get a move on.”
Nodding, Lise stood, his gaze still fixed low as he followed slowly behind. Tyki frowned and lifted the blonde haired boy into the air, settling him on his shoulders, one leg on either side of his head.
“Come on now. It’s not so bad." He said, brushing his curled bangs out of the way.
Lise simply sighed and leaned over so that he faced Tyki, the thin black string of his necklace catching behind his ears as he stared at him upside down. The button twirled in the air, momentarily flashing the engraved name ‘Kevin Yeegar’ past the Noah’s eyes.
“Tyki…I don’t want to lose you.”
Tyki gripped the boy’s shins in his palms and curled his fingers around them, hoisting Lise into a more comfortable position on his shoulders. “I know…I don’t want to lose you guys either. That’s why I won’t die and the reason why I’ll keep workin this job. It pays a lot better than the mine. Helping the three of you is worth the risk.” He grinned and flicked the blonde's forehead.
'This is the best part about having Black and White selves...'
“So let’s go and surprise the guys!” He said, hunching over and taking off into a run. Lise gasped and grabbed Tyki's arms, closing his eyes as the wind whipped past, stinging his face a light pink. Tyki watched the dust kick up from under his feet as the sun began to sink behind the dusty storm clouds rumbling above in the sky.
His eyes narrowed behind his glasses and he grinned, a low laugh rumbling past his lips.
'Definitely the best...'
Anyway, this oneshot deals with Tyki's white half. In the series, he did give Lise Yeegar's button as a gift and I decided to do a little follow up with that since they cut out Yeegar's actual crusafiction and what happened when Tyki got back.
Well, what do you think?
