A loud roar echoed loudly throughout the canopy of the trees, stepping forth threw the dense and lush green forest would be a creature with dark, blood red fur. Its nine-tails lashing out destroying everything and anything that they touched. The creature's lips were drawn back in a 'smile' as its gleaming white fangs glowed in the moonlit night.

"GET BACK!" a voice cries out into the darkness "IT'S THE DEMON!"

"SOMEONE! HELP EVACUATE THE VILLAGE!" another shouts out

"WHERE'S THE HOKAGE!?"

Men and women all launched themselves into battle, weapons clashed and sang out as another tremendous roar is sounded from the beast itself. Saliva dripped from the beasts fangs as it snaps up another victim in its mighty jaws, crushing them with such a powerful force that the only thing that remained was blood and a the top half of the shinobi's body. Another yell would be heard as a teenage boy with silvery hair is knocked roughly to the side, his body slamming into a tree. No sooner did he hit the ground was he aided to his feet by a girl his own age, her long black-purple hair would be tied in a tight braid down to the middle of her back, dark blue almost black eyes narrow slightly "You alright?" she says over the mayhem

"Yeah! I'm fine, it caught me off-guard"

"Alright! I'll leave you then, try not to get yourself killed alright!?" with one final smile she dashes off, gracefully bounding into the trees avoiding the demon foxes' snapping jaws. Whipping around and pushing off of her branch she launches herself, like a projectile she flew sinking a single kunai into the beasts' nose.

Its head lifts and it snarls loudly in pain attempting to shaking the girl from its face, black slitted pupils enlargen out of fury as its eyes focus in on who was causing it injury. But the girl was persistant and stubborn and by thinking quickly she pushes up on the weapon lodging it deeper into the creature's sensative muzzle. The large fox howls out in pain and anger, paying it no mind the girl begins to form a few hand signs, her head tips back then goes forward.

'Pheonix Fury Jutsu!' she cries in her mind her mouth opening as a huge, white hot flame erupts from her mouth. The flames take the shape of a large predatory bird, its beak opens and a shrill cry echos, bouncing off of the surrounding rocks and plant life. The bird of fire flies into the air before coming down like a missile striking the nine-tailed monster in the face. The blood red fox's maw opens and from within a ferocious roar emits from those opened jaws.

Shaking the embers and pawing at its face, the fox rids itself of the burning fur, but was no worse for wear. That attack had hurt, A LOT, and it wasn't about to let whoever caused it such an injury get away with that. It's poor nose was sore as hell, and was bleeding, pawing at its muzzle with a small whimper the kunai is dislodged and it turns its attention now to the teenage female perched prettily on the branch, body lowered and ready for any strike out against her. Charging headlong towards her it reaches out a paw and swipes, letting out a frustrated growl when she dodges the attack. Kyuubi, the demon-fox, would watch as she sails over his head the wind hitting her body, her form was graceful and she was quite agile; even in battle.

A devilish smirk would seem to curl the corners of the creatures mouth as all nine of its mighty tails strike out at the girl, the force smacks her hard for being in the air had left her all but defenseless. However, the dark-tressed kunoichi thought quickly and used the force of the hit to ricochet off of a tree, by planting her feet on the trees bark and pushing off of its sturdy, and very hard surface, kicking outwards at the beast it dodges with a quick and sly move backwards. The girl hits the ground scowling looking about she counted each tail making sure that they were in her range of site, she had been planning another assault towards the fox when a voice rang out threw the darkness of the forest.

"KATARA! LOOK OUT!"

Looking to who had broken her concentration her eyes widen, how had the monster gotten over there without her knowing!? Grunting she rolls to dodge another swipe but was a second to late and would be batted rather painfully, claws and all, into the foliage. Upon hitting the dirt her body flips over itself and she lands in a crouched position, right next to her fellow shinobi.

"Dammit! How'd it get there!?" she curses bitterly wincing at the stinging sensation in her arm. Three very long and deep gashes were seen, blood running freely down her arm. Grumbling she'd watch as atleast five other shinobi had taken her place in the battle, she was only sitting still because the gashes were being taken care of by the medic-nin of whom she just landed near. Her jaw was clenched tightly as she gritted her teeth out of frustration, she hated being wounded AND being caught off guard at the same time it made her feel inept and weak even though she was far from being just that.

"Katara! Are you ok?" a voice calls out, the silver-haired youth from before breaking threw the treeline, his visible eye would be slightly widened as he saw the blood that was going down her arm since it hadn't been fully healed by the medic yet.

"Yes, Yes I'm fine" she says smirking brushing off the fact that she was injured as if it wasn't a big deal "It comes with the profession"

The teenage boy scowls beneath of his dark mask "That could've been a LOT worse then it was...and you should be more careful"

Sighing softly she quirks a brow "Hmmm, we're in the midst of a battle...there are casualties on out side...a lot of good men and women have been lost...hmmm...well no shit" she looks all unamused rolling her eyes.

"I'm serious..."

"So am I, we're in a battle you should be more worried about yourself at times then me...I've survived worse then what this old, overgrown hairball can do.."

Her companion was just about to make a sharp-whitted retort when another male dashes over. Upon his head was a dark blue bandana and he was wearing sunglasses "Lady Katara!" he shouts.

"Dammit, Ebisu I told you not yo call me 'Lady' Katara, just Katara is fine..."

"Now's not the time...its lady Kushina...she's...she's gone into labor..."

"WHAT!? Already!? But-but the doctors said..."

"I know, I know, but you're needed to aid with the baby's birth now GO! I'll help with things here"

Nodding Katara takes off full speed in the of the village, she had to get back there and fast. The baby of her sister figure was to be born this day and she had stated that she was going to help deliver the baby into the world, she would be named 'Godmother' of said child and unlike the 'Godfather' she was going to be there. The girl couldn't fight the smile that curls the corners of her lips she couldn't wait to see the child, and even in times of crisis the birth of a baby was always a welcome thing to see.

As she arrived infront of the home of Kushina, the girl could already hear the yells and screams of pain that the soon-to-be mother was in. Not even thinking twice she rushes in just as the baby's father, Minato Namikaze, was rushing out. Stopping she calls out to the man catching his attention "..Where are you going!? Your needed here.."

"I know, I know Katara...but how can I protect my child and beloved if there is a crisis just outside the village...if that...that THING gets here then all would be lost, I have to go..." he offers her a kind smile and pats her on the shoulder before he disappears in a cloud of smoke just outside the door. Sighing the kunoichi makes her way deeper into the home, running up the stairs she throws the door open revealing an exhausted Kushina and the mid-wife.

"Katara-chan!"

Smiling softly she'd go and take the place that was reserved for the father of this child, and that was at the mother's side. she didn't even wince when the birthing mother squeezes her hand feircefully, it was painful but she wouldn't allow that to show she had to be strong for her 'big sister' even if that meant getting every bone in her hand broken in the process.

3 hours had passed and that was when the women in the room became concerned, the birth was taking to long "That baby is DEFINATELY...Minato's...the little one is as stubborn as he is.." the youngest female in the room mumbles, wincing just a little when her hand was squeezed.

"At this rate...neither mother or child will survive..." the mid-wife looks up grimly "...we have to make a choice Lady Kushina...save you or the baby..."

"...D-dont worry about me...just...just save the baby...please!" came Kushina's pained plea. Katara felt her eyes widen "No! Kushina-oneesan you can't!"

"...Forgive me, Katara-chan...but I can't sacrifice my baby for my sake...I've had a full life, I cannot bare to cut short the life...or po...potential life of the ch-child" she winces and pushes again trying to prevent the inevitable.

Eyes closing she bites down on her lowerlip as tears leak from her eyes, nodding hesitantly she chokes back a sob "O-Okay...I-I understand..."

" 'Atta girl..." the woman says using her free hadn to wipe the tears away she smiles a sad smile "Help Minato with him ok?"

"O-kay..."

Nodding the mid-wife sighs sadly, it truly was a tragedy that the father was not here to voice his opinion, but a choice had to be made "Alright Kushina, dear...when I say push, push with all your might, Katara, use your chakra to help move the child along...use as much as you are able without harming the child okay?" watching as the youngest presses her other hand to the red-head's swollen stomach her eyes close and she nods as the chakra flow began. Kushina gasps in pain "okay...now..PUSH!"

She pushed with all her might, gritting her teeth, sweat dripped from her pores tears leaked from the three pairs of eyes in the room.

One from the woman who would never get to watch her little one grow

One from the mid-wife who had to announce the desicion

and one from the young kunoichi who was losing her sister, only to gain a child in return.

The birthing-mother's head tips back, she had heard the mid-wife say that she could see the head crowning, so with one last effort from her she pushes with all her might the burning of Katara's chakra coursing threw her body hurt a lot, her mouth opens as she cries out "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!" as she does another cry sounds loudly threw the village. The cry of a new born babe who was just brought into the world, only at the expense and loss of its mother.

"..Its...its a boy Kushina-oneesan...see?" her words were broken as she brought over the newly cleaned infant over so that his mother could hold him, for atleast a mere moment.

"...He's...he's beautiful...you know what I wish to name him...right Katara-chan..?" the dying woman whispers out as she cradles her son in her arms as tears well up in her eyes. The light was fading from her eyes "...but his name wont be uttered threw my lips...please...name him for me...alright?"

Looking as the baby was handed back to her by his mother, Katara cradles him tight against her breast as his dying mother looked on, her eyes brimmed with tears as she relaxed against the pillows "...His name shall be...Uzumaki Naruto..." the younger says smiling threw the waterfall of tears.

"..Naruto..." his name would be whispered threw the lips of the fading Kushina "...what a beautiful name..." a smile would cross her lips as her eyes close for one more time. She lets out a sigh, her body goes slack, as the life fades from her one of the lit candles would go out as her spirit left the world causing a slight breeze to blow with its escape from its body into the next lift.

She walked numbly down the stairs, the sounds of the battle still raged in her ears. A few tears would fall onto the blue blanket that belonged to the baby she held. The little one squirms in his sleep as its guardian carries him from his mother's home. The reason she left the house, she was being summoned to the Hokage tower, she was unknown why but she was told to bring the baby Naruto with her.

Opening the door her breath hitches, Minato was injured gravely but there was still a warmth in his sapphire blue orbs "Bring him here, Katara..." he whispers softly as if not to wake the infant. Nodding she does as she is told and hands him out to his father who places him in the middle of several burning candles, he gently removes the blanket "...Where's..?"

"...she's gone, Minato...please forgive me...I tried so hard.." her voice was breaking again and she could do nothing to stop it. She sniffles silently looking up threw her tears as a strong hand grips her shoulder.

"...Shh...there was no...nothing you could do..." giving her a quick hug the man turns to the task at hand "...I will soon...soon be joining her...anyways..."

"What do you-?" the girl was silenced when the blond infront of her had begun to glow as he created hand signs. The bright blue glow would grow brighter, and brighter as then a fury of bright blue chakra would pulsate out of his body, throwing Katara back onto her rump. As she looked on from where she sat stunned, she watches as Minato's hands outstretched and he places them on little Naruto's stomach. Eyes widening even more as his blue chakra turns red as the demon fox swirls up his body and into the body of his son.

"HAAAAH!!" he shouts the red chakra and the fox sinks into the newborn baby. The baby, seemingly alert to what was happening to him. Emits a shrill cry and begins to squirm, tears roll down his face as his fists clench in absolute anger and fury. He cries loudly even after the ceremony was completed he continued to cry. His father's body sways and falls backwards but would be caught by the one other person in the room, her eyes widen "...what...Minato, what have you done?" she looks up fearfully at the baby who was crying loudly surrounded by burning candles as a strange swirl mark appears on his abdomen.

"...It...was the...only way...to defeat the Kyuubi...I...had to seal it...into the...body of my...newborn son...but...at the cost of my own life..." he smiles weakly and chuckles at her horrified expression "...Raise him...to be the...strongest...in the village...teach him what...he needs to know..." he weezes as he breaths hard to try and keep his life long enough to get his words out to the girl who was keeping him from fully hitting the ground.

"But...I..."

"You'll be...fine...I have...faith in you...you'll be a great...surrogant mother...to my child..." he closes his eyes as he smiles in a goofy manner "...I...can't trust...my sensei...who knows WHAT that man will...will teach Naruto"

As hard as she might try, the kunoichi couldn't keep the smile off of her face "Probably Peeking 101" she says joking lightly with the dying man so he would atleast leave this world with his award winning smile on his face.

"...Heh...probably...take care of him...take care of yourself Katara..."

"But my..."

"...Don't worry about them...you will be raising the...the savior of Kohnoa..." with one last goofy smile "...please..."

"...I'll...I'll raise him as if he were my own..." putting on a brave face and a look of determination "...teaching him to be a splendid ninja will be difficult but will be worth it in the end..."

"...Good girl...give my regards to...to Kakashi and the others...okay?"

"...Yeah...I will..." she smiles sadly at him tears falling from her eyes. She did nothing to wipe them away "...Good-bye, for now Minato"

"...See...you...later...Katara..." with these words his eyes close as he joins his beloved Kushina in the afterlife. Just as the other shinobi from the village dash in, to whitness the crying infant, a sobbing Katara and...

Their beloved Yondaime Hokage lying dead in her arms.
