A/N: Well, no one reviewed on the last chapter so I thought I’d put this one up as a ‘isanyonereallyreadingthisstoryorwhat?’ chapter. Reviews are love!
Chapter 3:
Brennan Harney snored softly as the rays of sunlight illuminated the room. He rolled over and breathed the smell of the ripened straw mattress. The summer breeze blew softly through the cracked window. A soft knock awoke Brennan. He heard someone enter the room but he didn’t pay it any attention.
“Brennan, wake up.”
“No,” He said. He felt a hand shake him.
“Wake up, it’s important.” Brennan rolled over towards the door and Doon.
“What?” He asked rubbing his eyes groggily.
“It’s Poppy,” Doon said sitting on the end of the bed. “She’s got the fever.”
“No! Are you serious?”
“Avery just left with your mother. We’re supposed to pick some herbs to take over later. Get dressed,” Doon said throwing a smock to Brennan. He ruffled his black hair and followed Doon out of the room.
“This is terrible,” Brennan said walking into the kitchen/ dining room in the small house. “First Laney down the way now Poppy.”
“Yep. And I’m sure Lina is all worked up about it.”
“Well, the least we could do is help. Let’s get to work,” Brennan said opening to door that led to the greenhouse. “After you, my good man.” He said smiling crookedly.
“Of course,” Doon said bowing. They spent the morning gathering herbs and plants for Poppy. That afternoon after eating, they walked the ½ mile stretch of country between the Harneys and the Mitchell’s house. As the approached the house they noticed Lina sitting outside.
“How’s Poppy,” Doon asked. Lina looked up at them and smiled weakly.
“She could be better. Dr. Harney says it’s not as serious as it could be.”
A/N: WOW. I haven’t been putting up a disclaimer….I DON’T OWN DOON, LINA, or POPPY! Thanks! Reviews are love!
