Chapter eleven:

“…why you ask yourself ‘why didn’t I realize it before?’ You have always known that you hated yourself but you never thought about doing this before…”

Sasuke woke up in a daze he didn’t know where he was.

“Sakura, you have been such a good friend to me, you cared about me and even though times got rough you were always there for me thank you. But this is not why I am writing you this letter, as you probably have already noticed I’m not here and we will probably not see each other. I hope you excel in your training and just remember, that wherever I am or going I’ll never forget you.

“Mine says pretty much the same thing” Kakashi said

“Mine two.” Naruto said.

Sasuke stood up “What are you all talking about?” He asked.

“Sasuke didn’t you get a letter?” Naruto asked.

“Why would I have a letter?”

“Haven’t you realized? Shukumei’s gone!” Sakura said.

Sasuke remembered everything. He looked back the bed was folded and neat but no one lay in it.

The only thing that lay on the bed was a single letter. Sasuke picked it up.

“Read it out loud.” Kakashi, Sakura, and Naruto said in unison.

Sasuke unfolded the piece of paper and started to read it aloud.

“ Sasuke, There isn’t much to say but one word comes to mind as I write this, ‘goodbye’ . I’ll always keep you in my heart.

“That’s all she wrote?” Naruto asked.

“Wait there’s something on the back of it.” Sakura said. Sasuke turned the letter over.

“It says: whatever happens, you know where you’ll find me…oh and Sasuke, don’t go to Itachi, please.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sakura asked.

Sasuke walked out of the room without a word.

“Hey! Where are you going!?” Naruto yelled.

“I’m gonna find her and bring her back.” Sasuke said smoothly

“Oh there you go again acting all ‘cool’ again” Naruto said getting annoyed.

“Oh Sasuke! You’re so cool!” Sakura purred as she and the other’s followed behind him. But it was only a matter of time until he lost the others. Only Sasuke would know where to find me.

I was walking back toward the sound village. I was going to let Orochimaru use my body as a vessel even though it sounded a little creepy. I shuddered in the thought. I thought about Sasuke he must be shoving it off as nothing. I knew I couldn’t be with him and with the second rounds of the Chunin exams coming up in three days he would want to start training bright and early to excel. As he ran through my mind I felt someone standing behind me and I stopped in my tracks. I wasn’t about to look behind me only because I was afraid of what I would see.

Then I heard his voice.

“Shukumei.”

It was a rough but gentle voice. Tears began to form in my eyes and travel down my cheeks.

“Come back, back to Kakashi, Sakura, Naruto, Tsunade…come back to the leaf village.” He said softly. The wind blew softly brushing my red face and I whipped the tears away.

“So Shukumei, will you finally agree to come with us?” a familiar voice said. All of a sudden the entire Akatsuki was in front of me.

Deidara was the one talking to me.

“C’mon Shukumei, come back with me.” Deidara said putting a hand out to me.

“I-I…” I cracked through. I turned my head a little and saw Sasuke behind me, he looked a little upset and hurt.

Deidara walked up to me and cupped my chin in his hand and rose my head up to his.

“C’mon,” He wrapped his other hand around my waist.

I pushed him away from me.

“Leave me alone Deidara!” I snapped.

Itachi walked up to where Deidara was.

“Look, you know as well as I do that we have to free you.” Itachi said.

“Shut up Itachi! You wouldn’t be able to free me and keep me alive why not just kill me now? I tried to do everyone a favor but…” I looked down as water welled up in my eyes.

“Shukumei.” Sasuke was right in front of me in front of Itachi.

I looked up at him, he was smiling at me.

“I want you to come back to the leaf village. I can help you I-“ He was cut off as I backed away from him.

“Foolish little brother,” Itachi began, “You still don’t understand. She doesn’t want to leave you but she wants to leave this place.”

“what the hell are you talking about Itachi?” Sasuke yelled.

“Sasuke look,” I said interrupting the two. Sasuke looked at me. “I’m only doing this because I care about you and can’t bear to see you hurt.” I said

Sasuke looked at me sorrowfully.

I looked behind me. “Sakon, Jirobo, Tayuya, let’s go.” I said

I was about to jump into the trees when I felt an ice-cold hand on my shoulder which made me hesitate. I looked down about to cry softly.

“Orochimaru.” I said softly. My voice was cracking.

“Shukumei, why is it that whenever I see you, you are about to cry?” Orochimaru said annoyingly.

“You just don’t get it, you don’t understand me at all.” I said getting upset.

I felt Orochimaru behind me, really close behind me.

“Then” He began stepping closer to me. His ice-cold body sent chills down my spine cut I didn’t shudder. I felt his hand around my waist his other down by his side. His lips were close to my ear. “Make me understand.” He whispered.

I pushed away from him. “Shut the hell up Orochimaru!” I yelled. I was facing him now.

I was about to jump away once again when I heard a scream and didn’t move.

“WAIT!” It was Naruto’s voice.

I jumped up going to run away from it al when I was tackled to the ground by Kakashi. He pinned me there making me unable to run.

“What the hell do u think you’re doing?” Kakashi yelled annoyingly holding onto my shoulders. I could still move my arms though but decided not to.

I stared into his right eye, he seemed upset, lonely.

“Shukumei, running away won’t help anything!” He spat

I was getting tense as tears formed in my eyes.

“You don’t understand. You’re still young.” He said.

“No! No Kakashi!” I yelled. “It’s you who doesn’t understand! I thought that making friends and getting close would help. I thought that was the path I had to take. Maybe it was just that I wanted to be loved and accepted! I wanted…all of those things from one person.” I was calming down but even that didn’t stop the tears that were falling down my cheeks.

He tightened his grip on my shoulders and I cringed in pain.
