“Ah Naota son! Welcome back home! Your dear grandpa and I missed you so very, very, very, very-” Great. My first day back and I’m already locked in my dad’s arms while he declares his love for me. Well no use fighting. “- very, very, very much! Isn’t that right Shigekuni?"
“Huh?” Grandpa looked away from the TV to look at me very briefly. “Oh yeah - much.” He turned back to his baseball game without another glance at me. Love you too grand---
“AAAHHH!!!!” Before I realized what was happening my face hit the ground. I jumped back up as blood began to pour quickly down from my nose. “Dad! When you throw your son up in the air your suppose to catch him! Besides I‘m not a kid anymore! Agggh, I think you broke my nose…”
“You will always be my little boy Naota. Its been 6 years since I’ve seen your bright and smiling face!” I glared at him from the kitchen while I wet a towel in the sink’s faucet. Things haven’t changed here. “I see you developed to look just as handsome as your old man, huh? Maybe we can go catch some hotties at the high school parking lot later, what do you say?” Haven’t changed at all.
“I’ll pass, besides its 11pm, I just got off an endless plane ride and I would just like to go to sleep for now.” My voice sounded off on account at I was pressing my fingers against the bridge of my nose to stop the blood flow.
“Oh of course, of course! Let me take your bags to your room!” I reached for my luggage to proclaim I could do it myself but my grandfather stopped my dad before I could.
“Kamon! Let your son do it. He’s practically an adult now. No need to baby him.” He said without turning from the TV. I wonder what happened to his hyper activeness. Did something happen while I was gone that no one told me about?
“Here Naota,” Dad handed me my suitcase, “your room is still in the same place. You remember where its at right?” I briefly smiled at him and nodded.
“I’ll see you tomorrow morning dad. Goodnight grandpa.” I could hear them both wishing me a goodnight but I already knew it was going to be a horrible. Everything feels so ancient. Besides my grandpa’s attitude nothing has changed. I opened the door and gazed at everything. Not even my room has changed. What the fuck?! Did they miss me so much that they wanted to preserve my every dead skin cell?
