The battle against MetalSeadramon is coming to a close. Lati and Flash are down to their final options. Lati’s Charizard uses Flamethrower against the giant digimon, but it doesn’t damage its tough armor. Instead, MetalSeadramon uses its own flame breath on the fire pokemon. Charizard, being a Fire-type, is able to resist the attack, but still takes damage. Next, MetalSeadramon charges up its cannon and fires its River of Power, but it misses again, this time, blasting into the mountain.
“Damn, I missed again.” says MetalSeadramon. “It’s a powerful attack, but its also inaccurate, making it difficult to use properly.”
Flash approaches Lati, “Lati, I think we might be able to destroy it if we combine our strongest attacks together.”
“That’s what I was thinking. We only have one chance at this.”
“Then let’s get it right.”
Latios, Latias and HippoGryphomon fly in formation and use their strongest attacks together. The two dragon pokemon summon a meteor shower with their Draco Meteor while HippoGryphomon fires a Heat Wave attack, enveloping the meteors in flames. MetalSeadramon is unable to evade the falling meteors and takes a direct hit. The collision causes it to crash into the mountain, creating another tremor. Most of its armor falls away.
“Finally, it’s over.” Lati says, relieved that their task is complete. She pulls back her sleeve, revealing her black digivice to delete MetalSeadramon’s virus data. As she is about to delete the digimon, it starts moving again. It gets up and uses Giga Ice Blast on Latias. The dragon pokemon is hit by the blizzard and succumbs to its power. Latias falls.
“Latias!” cries Lati. MetalSeadramon slowly flies into the sky again.
“I won’t lose to you.” growls MetalSeadramon.
“Damn it!” shouts Flash. “Our attack didn’t work! We’re out f of ideas.”
“No.” says Lati. “There’s still one more thing we haven’t tried. It’s risky, but it’s our only chance.”
“What is it?”
“Charizard has an attack even stronger than Draco Meteor. But because it’s so strong, it completely drains it’s strength after one use, plus it’s highly inaccurate.”
“If it’s our only chance, then let’s do it.”
MetalSeadramon is examining Lati and Flash closely. “They’re planning something, I know it. But what ever it is, it can’t be too threatening. Still, I shouldn’t take any chances. I’m running low on power. Every time I use the River of Power, I get weaker. Estimating from my current power level, I can only use it about three more times. I didn’t think they’d be this strong. From now on, I’ll only use it when it’s absolutely necessary.”
Lati and Flash finish discussing their plan. Latios and HippoGryphomon fly toward MetalSeadramon first.
“This is your plan?!” shouts the digimon. Latios and HippoGryphomon fire their Dragon Pulse and Heat Wave attacks.
“This is obviously a diversion.” MetalSeadramon says to itself. “First, they’ll try to distract me with these weak attacks, then they’ll launch their strong one. Too bad it won’t work. I’m one step ahead of them.”
MetalSeadramon uses Giga Ice Blast to repel Latios and HippoGryphomon’s attacks. The collision creates and explosion of smoke and steam.
Lati sees the smoke and takes her cue. “Okay, we only have one shot at this. Fire!”
Before the smoke clears, an attack pierces right through it, heading straight for MetalSeadramon.
“I knew it.” says the evil digimon. “They’re too predictable.”
Having predicted Lati’s and Flash’s strategy, MetalSeadramon easily avoids the incoming blast of energy that is flying toward it.
“Too easy.”
Suddenly, the ball of energy explodes in midair, giving off a blinding flash. MetalSeadramon screams in pain. “What’s going on?!”
“It worked, Lati. It’s blinded.” Flash says.
“Goos job, Latios.” Lati tells her pokemon. “Your Luster Purge managed to blind MetalSeadramon, just like we planned.”
“What?! They planned this?!” screams MetalSeadramon.
“Now, Charizard, destroy it! Blast Burn attack!” commands Lati.
Her pokemon gathers all its strength and launches it in a blast of searing flames. MetalSeadramon has nowhere left to run.
“No! It can’t end like this!” screams the Dark Master. It feels the heat of the attack coming toward it and knows that it can’t manage to get away in time. Even it’s River of Power isn’t strong enough to stop the Blast Burn. At the last second, it does something that nobody expected.
“River of Power!”
“What?!” yells Lati in shock. “What’s it doing? Is it trying to stop the attack?”
“No.” Flash tells her. “It’s desperate.”
Lati turns to see where MetalSeadramon launched its River of Power, but there’s nothing there. However, it’s when she turns back that truly horrifies her. The Blast Burn missed.
“But, how?!” she asks in horror.
“That last attack it used wasn’t meant to hit anything.” Flash tells her. “It was meant to propel itself out of the way of the Blast Burn. We lost.”
MetalSeadramon regains it sight and focuses its murderous gaze on Lati.
“You’ll be the first to die!” it screams out. It builds up it’s cannon to fire another River of Power.
The battle is about to end, but not in a victory for Lati and Flash. The two of them are about to die.
