Note: This is the first story I ever wrote in English! ;) Unfortunately I've to admit that my English isn't the best, but I hope it's good enough. Therefore I'm always up for constructive critique, suggestions or recommendations!

Darkwing Duck is property of Disney.

The worst part of you is me

1. Chapter - For the loveless lonely nights

Christmas! By far the worst time in the whole year for him. He hated Christmas. He hated the festive Santa Clauses smiling at him in every department store, streets, alit by hundreds of lights, all those people who were bustling around like insects in the stores of the city. This fulsome, pretended harmony.

He turned away from the panorama of the nocturnal St. Canard and looked in the corner of the gloomy room, where a still unpacked Christmas tree from sale was standing. From sale. Ha, of course he had stolen it. As if he would buy one. He just got it for himself to burn it on this sacrosanct evening, to see how the needles would crook black through the fiery force. This would give him satisfaction, not this feigned festivity with it’s useless presents.

--

The tree was still standing untouched in the corner of the room. Meanwhile Negaduck roamed through the abandoned streets of St. Canard, cogitating his morbid thoughts. For good reason he had forbidden the celebration of the Christmas Eve in the Negaverse. And would just somebody dare to oppose him… he got his point across his annoying brat of stepdaughter before. Negaduck squinted. What a terrible sight that was! A house, over and over draped with varicoloured fairy lights and oversized decorative statues standing in the gateway. It nauseated him. Therefore he approached the house, attracted by the absurd view which was presented to him. He sneaked through the snow-covered grass to the biggest window of the house and had a peek.

--

“Dad, Launchpad and I will take a short visit at the Muddlefoot’s house; after all I’ve to test if my new sled is good for something, together with Honker”.

“However, don’t wreck their furniture unlike ours into kindling”, grumbled Drake Mallard and brushed the leftovers of a blue flower vase from the living room carpet.

“No Problemo, DW, I’ll take care of her”, grinned Launchpad, which made Drake sigh half-hearted.

“I don’t mind, but be back on time! Finally I’ve to read out the Christmas story for you and to complete the evening, we’ll play some nice parlour games…“

“How I’m longing for that highlight of the evening…”, Gosalyn said, rolled her eyes and disappeared with a hurried “See ya later, Dad!” together with Launchpad and her new sled out through the door.

--

He hardly trusted his eyes. But he was definitively sure. That unsophisticated and virtuous Duck on the other side of the window couldn’t be anybody else than Darkwing Duck. Negaduck bristled. This looked like his abhorrent counterpart; living in a heavily decorated house, caring for his image as a loving father… that hypocrite. But "Santa Claus" seems to have come up with a very special present for me this year, Negaduck thought and smiled dastardly. For all the bad things I did I must have done something good… but for God’s sake I can’t imagine what that should have been, he growled and sneaked to the front door.

--

The bell rang. “Gosalyn seems to be back quite fast! I fear the worst for the furniture of the Muddlefoots… “, mumbled Drake to himself and went, hanging up the dustpan in the storage closet before, to the entry door. He put the hand on the door knob and opened.

At that time nobody could sense that this year's Christmas would become something special for both opponents.
