Okay. Read closely, because this chapter is IMPORTANT.

Listen up, people. If I was Charles Dickens, I'd be a medical wonder.

"Come along then, Helen, follow Dodger." The old man ushered the little girl down the thin steps and after the pack of boys. She looked up at him with weary eyes.

"I ain't leavin' you behind. Gotta earn your keep." And with that Fagin pushed Eden out of the alleyway and into the busy London streets. People bustled by, bumping Eden as they went. A thousand different smells swirled around her, causing the young girl to lose her footing slightly.

"'Urry up, Helen. Let's get goin'." Dodger smiled and looked down at the young girl, suddenly appearing by her side.

Eden frowned. She still wasn't sure why they were calling her Helen, but it'd have to do. She beamed back up at him and followed, tucking a blond curl behind her ear.

Victoria Parke stood at the top of the winding stairway, running a hand through her perfectly arranged blond curls. She bit her lip, trying in vain to listen to what the two men were saying. The one closest to the stairs kept waving his hands around and shouting, but Tori couldn't make out any words. Finally, he began to come up the stairs, the other man following behind. Sliding back against the staircase, Tori smoothed out her dress and greeted her father.

"Good morning, Papa." She smiled, nodding her head slightly.

"'Morning, princess." The man looked down at the young girl and smiled slightly, adjusting the hat that was close to falling off his head. He gave her a pat on the back, then continued down the hallway. Tori frowned, looking back down to the first level. Now her mother was passing through, and she again slunk into the shadows.

"How 'bout 'im, Dodge?" Charley Bates tapped his friend on the shoulder, then pointed to an elderly man, dressed too smartly for the thick fog that was sweeping over the London streets. Dodger nodded, leaning over and smiling at the young girl, who glanced up at him with a grin.

"Go on, then." Charley gave her a little shove, and Eden began to walk up to the man. She tugged on his arm, then pointed up to the sky, mouthing something neither Dodger nor Charley could understand. The man frowned, then leaned in closer to hear her. Repeating the movement, Eden tripped, falling over onto the cobblestones. The man helped her up, and she scurried over to where the two boys stood.

"Stop wasting time, and-" But Dodger stopped in the middle of his sentence, blinking at the shining object the girl held in her hand. She reached into her pocket again, and pulled out a leather wallet, which she handed over to him, grinning.

"Well done." Charley breathed, nodding at Eden.

She smiled, shrugging a bit, then glancing back over to where the old man stood. He put a hand inside his coat, then seemed to realize something was missing. Eyes wide, Eden and the boys froze. He waved his hand around, then began to speak to one of the men standing by the bread shop. He swiveled round and pointed to Eden, who immediately began to run.

"Miss Tori, you know you ain't s'posed to have nothin' before dinner." The old maid snatched the biscuit out of the girls hand, and slowly shook her head.

Tori rolled her eyes, and crossed her arms over her chest.

"But, dinner isn't for a while, and-"

"Your mother said no. I ain't gonna disagree with the missus."

Tori sighed and turned round, shaking her head as she tugged on the old wooden door. It swung open, and Tori glanced over her should before she slipped outside. The cool air felt nice, and she just stood there for a moment. But the peace was disturbed by a group of men, coming to a halt right outside Toris house. They paused, then looked up at her.

"That 'er!" One of them yelled, and before she really knew what was happening, Tori had taken off, squirming through the crowd and running across the green filled park. She wasn't sure what they were talking about, but she was sure she needed to get away. Slipping into a dark alleyway, Tori found herself looking into a mirror.

gasp! Oh no! What's happened?

You'll have to review to find out! Sorry it's taken me so long to update. So busy lately. I hate exams.

But, on the brightside, school ends soon! YAY!

And, for future reference, this is based on the 2005 movie. Thanks for the lovely reviews, everyone. You guys keep me going.
