CHAPTER ONE:

Kate walked out of Jordan’s apartment, mentally kicking herself. She bumped into Bug, but didn't think twice, all she wanted to do was get to her house and try to work out whatever it was she was feeling. Ever since the incident two years ago, she had sworn never to fall for another co worker ever again. Especially a straight female, co worker.

Kate shut the car door behind her as she slid in. Leaning her head against the steering wheel she felt like screaming, there was just something about Jordan Cavanaugh that she couldn't get out of her system. Putting her keys in the ignition and putting it in reverse she backed out of the parking lot and headed for her favorite club.

--

Jordan felt happy to be surrounded by all of her “family” and that her hallucinations had stopped, but she felt like something or someone was missing.

After everything she had gone through with Woody, Jordan had always promised herself she wouldn't develop feelings for another co worker, ever again, especially one she wanted to hate so much. But there was just something about Kate that made her heart flutter and she couldn't quite understand why she would fall for a straight female co worker that had never happened before.

Yes, Jordan had been with women before, something only Garret and Lily knew about her, in fact she had only ever been with two men. But Kate was off limits, Kate was straight, Kate hated her.

After a semi joyous reunion with Bug, everyone except for Garret left. Jordan was sitting on the couch when he sat down beside her and took her hand.

“What’s on your mind?” He asked her.

“Kate…” She admitted, knowing she could trust Garret with the information.

“What about Kate, Jordan,” He looked at her with fresh eyes, studying her features, and expressions.

“I don't know Garret! That’s just it! I want to hate her, and don't really want anything to do with her but I can't stop the way I'm feeling and besides, she straight!” Jordan rushed out in one deep breath.

“Anyway, I swore after Woody I wouldn't ever date another co worker.” Jordan finished, with a tinge of sadness in her voice. Garret nodded.

“Tell her.” It was all she needed. Jordan smiled and nodded, leaning against Garret and drifting into and uneasy sleep.

--

Kate took another drink from yet another young girl that was hitting on her, they were all very pretty, but Kate couldn't get Jordan off her mind.

“Hey gorgeous, would you like to dance?” A young woman, maybe in her early twenties asked Kate from behind her. Kate turned around.

“No I would not like to dance if I wanted to dance I would be on the dance floor now go!”

The woman turned away, looking disappointed. Kate sighed and stood up, here was not the place for her to be tonight. Stretching, Kate once again headed out to her car. Only to find that after she searched the entire parking lot her car was not there. Sighing, and trying to bite back the tears of frustration that were threatening to pour from her eyes, Kate pulled out her cell phone and called Garret. Se was tipsy, she couldn't find her car, and she was scared.

"Macy"

“Hey Garret, I am in the parking lot of this club about four clocks from Jordan’s someone stole my car.” She said stiffly.

"What club"?

“Just come and get me from the Starbucks on twenty second” She said, not wanting Garret to come and pick her up from a gay and lesbian bar.

"I'll be there in fifteen minutes and Kate"?

“Yeah?”

"Are you drunk"?

“Just a little bit.”

She said, letting the tears come out, Garret sighed and hung the phone up, leaving Jordan’s apartment, he left her a not to tell her he would be back in thirty minutes.

--

Kate smiled as Garret walked in, she was sipping on a plain black coffee with creamer. Garret spotted her and headed over to the little wirey table she was sitting at. She stood up and stumbled a bit he grabbed her arm.

“You are coming back to Jordan’s with me.” Garret said firmly. Kate frowned.

“No, no, no. Not a good idea Garret!” Kate said hastily.

“I don't have time to take you home, you can sleep on the couch.” He said.

“No, I will walk home before I spend the night at Jordan’s house, I don't even know why I called you!”

“You called me because you are so drunk you didn't notice your car sitting right outside the club across the street!”

Kate took a better look outside, and sure enough her car was sitting right there. She was just too drunk to drive it.

“Fine!” She walked toward the door and got in Garret's car. It was going to be a long night.
