Title: Laughing About Potato Peelers
Authors Note: Re-written as of 9th of November, 2009.
Many would be bewildered about why Hestia Jones stood in the Dursley's kitchen with a potato peeler clutched in her hands and laughing hysterical. She had came across in whilst rummaging through one of the many drawers in the kitchen. The truth is that no-one alive would know the full amusement of it unless they were personally very close to the black-haired witch.
Dedalus Diggle with his purple top hat upon his head shot her a queer look. What on earth was that woman doing laughing at a potato peeler? I mean, I suppose it would look rather odd to someone who's grown up in the wizarding world. "Jones, why on earth are you laughing at a potato peeler?"
This caught Emmeline Vance's attention and she cracked a smile. She had been good friends with Hestia Jones and learnt the story behind the potato peeler as soon as it happened.
"Girl!" Mad-Eye Moody barked. "You're familiar with muggle objects, so quit laughing. We've got to be at our very best tonight!"
Hestia had now captured Remus Lupin's attention, causing him look up from the letter he was neatly writing addressed to the Dursley's. He had heard the story from Emmeline and he caught her eye, giving a small grin before turning his gaze back to his letter. He didn't want to be told off by Moody.
And so, only three people in the kitchen knew the story, but only two people had experienced the great adventure of it. One was in the kitchen with the potato peeler in her hands, and the other was looking down from above. Dorcas Meadowes was laughing loudly while Lily and James Potter looked on from where they stood, smiling.
Hestia Jones may have been preparing for a true battle, but she knew that she had to look on the bright side and seize the opportunity to laugh as much as possible - because without laughter, there was no happiness. And without happiness, there's no life. Her best friend may have been dead and may have been inclined to cry, but she didn't because she knew deep down that when she eventually joined her friend their happiness would live on forever.
