The sound in my ears is muffled, hollow.

Officers are moving around frantically,

Mouths opening – forming words that my mind can’t comprehend.

Normally, Ronnie isn’t this quiet.

I see screaming, shouting and yelling.

And then it hit me.

I don’t care anymore.

I don’t want to.

I can’t.

Mrs. Jiminez stumbled in the house with a knife jutting out of her back.

Ronnie’s eyes are searching me for answers,

Answers that I no longer have – to problems I can no longer bear.

I blink and the sound in the room becomes sharp and deafening.

I’m overwhelmed.

I need to leave.
