Disclaimer: I don’t own the StarGate: Atlantis characters, the only character I own is: Lt. Col. Erin O’Neill. Yes she is Jack O’Neill’s sister, but this is not a Crossover.
The Gate room was quiet as people bustled about, traveling back and forth to various different stations, going about their normal every day routine. Elizabeth Weir, stood in front of her office window and watch the people go from station to station, doing their job.
She couldn’t help but let out a frustrated sigh as she kept a close visual on the StarGate, waiting for some sign of one the SG teams that she had sent through the Gate. She had given command of the team to Lt. Col. Erin O’Neill with Major Evan Lorne as her SC.
Now it had been over 4 hours and Elizabeth had yet to hear of any word about the team. She let out a sigh and then walked towards her desk to start on some long over due paperwork.
“Erin’s alright Elizabeth. She’s a tough cookie.” A voice came from the door. Elizabeth looked up and saw Lt. Col. John Sheppard leaning against her office doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest and easy going smile on his face.
“You think so John? Do you really think so? Because I don’t share that sentiment.” Elizabeth said with a serious expression on her face.
“Sentiment or not you have to have some faith in her. I mean Jeez Elizabeth; you’re as bad as Ronon and Gen. O’Neill combined. I have known Erin for along time. We have seen a lot of shit together, and in all that time I have never, not once, seen that girl give up when the chips were down. When we first came here, Erin told me one of her fears. She said her biggest fear wasn’t what we were going to face out here, she said that she handle, no, what she couldn’t handle or feared was that everyone on the expedition would treat her like she was fragile or because she was Gen. O’Neill’s little sister, they thought she would better off if she was in Atlantis.” John said as he walked across the room and took a seat across from Elizabeth.
Elizabeth sat there in shock. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish. She stared at John as if he had grown a second head; she had to shake her head a couple times. Elizabeth could believe what John had just told her.
“God, I had no idea that Erin felt that way. I mean if I had seen how Erin felt, then I would have done something. Dammit, I’m a horrible best friend.” Elizabeth said with a sigh and scrubbed her face with hands.
“Elizabeth, don’t be so hard on yourself. What matter’s now is that Erin is finally able to be in charge of her own team, even if it’s only temporary, and not stuck with my team and me. Not that I’m not gorgeous and sexy,” John stopped mid sentence as the Gate room alarms sounded.
John and Elizabeth shared a look and walked into the Gate room together. Elizabeth never knew that Erin felt that way. Now she got why Erin was so happy when she found out that she would lead a team through the Gate. She was going to make a big change when Erin came back.
She walked over to the Gate tech and John and then looked towards the Event Horizon. She turned back to both men and gave them a serious look and then spoke.
“What do we have Sergeant?” Elizabeth asked as she turned back to the Worm Hole.
“We have an Incoming transmission Ma’am.” The sergeant said as he tapped a series of keys.
“It’s Col. O’Neill, Ma’am.” The sergeant said as he lowered the Gate shield and booted up the transmission.
2 minutes later, Lt. Col Erin O’Neill’s face appeared on the monitor. She was grinning from ear to ear but looked like she was plum warn out. Erin looked like she ran about a 100 miles from a group of Wraith and a Wraith Dart.
“Lizzie, are you there?” Erin asked with a tired sigh. Elizabeth gave a small grin. Erin and John were the only ones on the expedition to call her “Lizzie” and get away with it.
“Yes I’m here. Oh Erin you look really awful by the way.” Elizabeth said with a wince of sympathy.
“Oh thanks Liz. It’s good to know that I have such good friends who ‘Really’ care about my appearance so, that they tell I look like I went ten rounds with Darcy Tucker of the Toronto Maple Leafs.” Erin said with a huge grin.
“Well Erin, Lizzie is just being suttle. You see I thought by you going on a mission it would do wonders for your face, but alas, your mug is still as ugly as when you left.” John teased with a huge grin and his eyes twinkling with mirth.
“Why thank you John. If want talk some trash, I’ll talk trash with ya. Your body that you think is God’s gift to women, it just happens to be the ugliest thing I ever saw. I mean it’s way to skinny. I think you should take a page out my brother’s book and get some muscle on them bones of yours.” Erin said with a smug look that caused her blue eyes to twinkle with mirth as well.
“Ok children. Erin, how did the meeting go with Tal’lon’s? Did you have problems with the Wraith or Genii?” Elizabeth asked trying to get back to the mission at hand.
“Everything went fine Elizabeth. The Tal’lon’s told me that the Wraith hasn’t been here for 6 or 7 months. And as for the Genii, well we didn’t see any one in sight.” Erin said with a sigh.
“That’s good, but Erin why do I get the feeling that there’s more. What happened?” Elizabeth asked and waited patiently for Erin to continue.
“Elizabeth we had some problems here. Lt. Dillon broke his sprain his ankle on the way to Tal’lon village and then broke it when he went to explore the woods with the village hunters. The main one I’m worried is Lt. Fredrick’s. It turns out he’s allergic to nuts and Tomato’s, which just so happens to be in a soup that we ate. Major Lorne managed to eject Fredrick’s with an eppie pen, but his breathing is still a little shallow. I would like to bring my team back home so they can get medical treatment.” Erin said with a sigh.
“Permission granted Erin. I’ll have a medical team standing by when you come through the Gate!” Elizabeth said with a small sympathic smile.
“Understood Liz. O’Neill out.” Erin said as her image blinked out of the monitor.
Elizabeth sighed and shook her head. She turned and shared a look with John. Elizabeth knew she had come to decision in that moment. She decided that Erin would finally get her own team to go on missions with instead of tagging along with John and his team.
John gave Elizabeth his usual cocky grin and gave her his nod in agreement then he turned walked into the Gate Room to help Erin and her team when they came through the Gate. Elizabeth grinned with relief then tapped her radio.
“Weir to Beckett.” Elizabeth said in her usual serious voice.
“Becket ‘ere!” Carson said in his usual Scottish brogue. Of all the people on Atlantis, Carson was the one who wore his heart on his sleeve.
“Carson, we need you to get two gurney’s and a medical team to the Gate immediately.” Elizabeth said as she continued to watch the Gate for any sign of Erin and her team.
“On the way.” Carson said as he started yelling out orders to various nurses and orderly’s. Few minutes later Carson and his group were making their way towards the Gate Room.
When Carson entered the Gate room, he saw Major Lorne come through the Gate first, carrying Lt. Dillon. He rushed over with the first gurney and helped placed the Lt on it without jolting his broken ankle.
“Alright lad, let’s get you to the infirmary with ye’re and she how much damage you did to that ankle.” Carson said as he motioned for have of his team to take the moaning Lt to the infirmary. Once they were out of sight, Carson turned towards the Gate.
What came through the Gate next, gave everyone present a shock of his or her life. Coming through the Worm Hole was Lt. Col Erin O’Neill and she was carrying Lt. Fredrick’s across her shoulders. Of course this was sight that shocked them the most.
You see Erin was 5’5” where as Lt. Fredrick’s was 6’2”. Of course Erin would just brush the question off and say if she could carry her 6’3” brother and his 6’3” best friend to safety on an off-world mission, then Lt. Fredrick’s should be a peace of cake.
At that moment Ronon, Rodney and Teyla came into the Gate room looking for John. What they saw caused them to be surprised. Ronon looked Erin who he came like as a little sister, with more appreciation then he ever gave any one. Except for John and his team.
For Ronon, Erin would be considered a great Warrious among his people. He rushed over and helped Erin place Lt. Fredrick’s on the other stretcher. Carson got a good look at the boy and nodded his head towards the infirmary. He walked towards Erin and started to check her injuries.
“Erin, lass, are ye alright? Ye dinna strain anything by carrying that badger of a man did ye? You look a wee bit flushed. I want ye to come to the infirmary just to check ye out.” Carson said with a quick nod and head off to check on his other patients.
Poor Erin couldn’t word in edge wise as Carson rattled on without stopping for breath. When Carson left, she turned to Elizabeth and in perfect Teal’c fashion, raised her eyebrow. Elizabeth chuckled.
“I agree with Carson Erin. You go to the infirmary and get checked out. We’ll have our post mission briefing at 220hours. That will give you and Major Lorne time to shower and change your cloths so you’ll be more relaxed.” Elizabeth said with a grin.
“Oh Liz, you are the Queen at Life Savers. Thanks. Now I must be off, Carson ‘Mother He’ Beckett won’t stop nagging me until I’m in the infirmary so that he can see for himself that I’m ok.” Erin said with a cheeky grin as she slapped off a mock salute then sashayed towards Carson Beckett’s domain.
Elizabeth was glad that Erin was safe and home. But she realized what John had said. Erin needed her own team to feel like she wasn’t living under her older brother’s over protective thumb. Elizabeth sighed and headed towards her office to get ready for her meeting with Major Lorne and Erin.
