Fiction Rated: K+ - English - Angst/Supernatural - Paige M. & Prue H. - Reviews: 43 - Published: 03-09-08 - Updated: 06-02-08 - id:4120706

It’s time for another old-school teen charmed. It’s a discovery fic, sort of AU, with all four sisters. Magic comes around the onset of puberty. Six months after their mom died, the four girls live with Grams. In Paige’s POV, Prue is 20, Piper 17, Phoebe 15, Paige 11.

I know the first chapter is really short, but I just wanted to set it up and see what you guys thought.

“It’s been six months.”

“I just don’t think she’s ready,”

I know not to listen in on conversations; it’s not nice, you’re invading someone’s privacy, and things often get misconstrued. While those are all valid points, I think the true lesson is not to get caught.

Especially right now. When I was younger I used to hold my breath when I was eavesdropping, but then I’d get so out of breath that I’d gasp and get caught.

Now I’ve pretty much mastered the art of eavesdropping.

A glass to the door does the trick, or if they’re downstairs, an ear to the floor.

“Look at her. She’s clearly not ready. She barely talks, barely eats, she can barely dress herself in the morning.” My grandmother says.

“Sitting around the house all day wont help. She’s already a full year behind now.” My oldest sister Prue argues.

“Her mother died. Cut her some slack.” My grandmother defends me.

“My mother died too, and did I drop out of college. No I transferred so I could move back home and help out, broke up with my boyfriend, and I got a job.”

“You didn’t have to do any of that. We’ve got more than enough money, and she’s not exactly in bad hands with me. I raised your mother didn’t I?”

“It’s what was right. Especially with – just -all I’m saying is that were not exactly helping her by babying her are we?”

“Babying her? The poor thing found out that she has a different father, and watched her mother die all in one year. And soon she’s going to-“

“Grams! I’m not saying we should throw her out in the wild, I just think since its fall and all she should go back to school. She’ll have to repeat the beginning of sixth grade again. She deserves a chance to be normal.”

“I guess you’re right.”

I pull the glass from my ear and rush upstairs because I hear them begin to move around, and if they catch me I’ll be dead. I tip toe up the stairs and slip back into bed.

“Overhear anything good tonight?”

“I just went to get some water.” I lie to my sister Phoebe.

“Sure Paigey.” Phoebe laughs groggily.

“I’m going to go back to school.” I say sitting up in my bed. Phoebe props herself up on her elbows in her bed.

In our old house we each had our own rooms. We moved in with Grams when our mom died. Grams’ house is much bigger than our old one, but there are less bedrooms. Sharing with Phoebe’s kind of cool though, it puts me more in the loop. She always knows everything that’s going on at home, and at school.

“So you think that’s a good thing?” She asks softly to make sure we don’t wake Piper up in the next room over.

“I don’t know. All my friends will be a year ahead now in the middle school.” I answer not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

“It’s kind of like a new start.” She shrugs lying back down.

“I guess,” I say.

“I’m going to bed,” Phoebe yawns.

“Night,” I whisper. A few moments later Phoebe’s breath becomes steady and I know she’s already asleep. She can fall asleep the second her head hits the pillow. She’s pretty lucky like that. I have to sit awake and thin for a while before I can fall asleep.

My sisters say I’m the sensitive one. I’m the one that couldn’t go back to school after mom died, and the one that they all whisper about. Prue is the one in charge, Piper’s the brain, and Phoebe’s the one who’s on top of everything –figuratively and literally, according to her reputation at school.
