After Edward and Bella’s wedding, the Cullen family moved to Alaska. They found a loophole in the treaty with the werewolves. None of the Cullens could bite her. So, they requested the aid of Tanya’s coven, and they gladly accepted to bring another vampire into the “Vegetarian” lifestyle. Now, seventy nine years later they moved back to rainy Forks, and are beginning their life there once more, starting everyone but Rosalie and Emmet in freshman year. A few months had passed since the Cullens returned, and Alice has been having visions of another lone vampire coming to Forks.
Bella’s POV
I heard a small tapping as I exited the Cullen’s home- my home- to go for a drive to my old house. I always felt a little sensitiveness to it, and I occasionally visited it. Edward had bought me a shiny new Porsche to match Alice’s, and I near denied it. But after hours of listening to him complain about it, I gave in. Today was different than any other day for me; I was worried for the first time in a while. Alice had a vision of another vampire coming to Forks, but of course she couldn’t make out the details. I pulled up to the old, decrepit house with its windows completely blanketed in dirt. Charlie never did keep it clean when he was alive, and now it had no one to keep it standing.
After about an hour there, I drove back reluctantly. But, before I was within a few miles of the house, I smelled another vampire. He seemed different though, I knew it was the vampire Alice had foreseen but he didn’t smell of human blood like the rest of the vampires- apart from the “vegetarians”- did. I pulled into the gravel driveway, parking my Porsche in the garage next to Alice’s.
“Edward, you home?” I called out, expecting him to appear in a few seconds anyway.
“Hey Bella!” Edward said leaning out the front door. He trotted over next to me to walk me inside, and kissed my forehead lightly. “Did you smell him?” He whispered in my ear.
“Yeah, is he a vegetarian? ‘Cause he didn’t smell like a regular vampire.” I asked as we got close to the door.
Edward simply nodded as we walked into the house, where Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmet were sitting on the couch. Esme was sitting on the bench to the Piano, Carlisle next to her. Alice was absent from the room, but I heard her dance-walking around upstairs. And finally, there was a boy, most likely around the age of twelve standing in the corner of the room. His eyes were distant, and a warm color of gold resembling the Cullen families. He held a thick pad of paper, and a pencil appearing as if to be a journalist.
“Ah, Bella we have a visitor. This is Ruthven; he came all the way from the east coast when he heard of our family.” Carlisle explained
“Hello.” I said warmly, but my expression changed when I noticed he didn’t even move in response. “What’s wrong with him?” I asked
“Well, Ruthven has a unique gift. He can draw things that influence the future.” Carlisle answered
“Oh.”
A few minutes passed, and then finally, Ruthven shook his head and became aware once more. “Oh, hello you must be Bella.” He said smiling
I nodded kindly. “What were you drawing?” I asked trying to sound courteous.
“Nothing really, just putting fresh flowers on my mother’s grave.” He said looking down towards the pad of paper grimacing slightly.
“I’m so sorry.” I gasped; I hadn’t expected to hear anything close to that.
“Oh its fine, I’ve gotten over it.”
“So Ruthven, what brings you to our home anyway?” Carlisle asked formally.
“Well, as you may have guessed, being a vampire when you’re stuck at the age of twelve doesn’t assist in finding a decent home for long, and I refused to live with any coven of vampires who drank human blood. That’s when I heard of your family. So I come asking if I could have a home here.” Ruthven explained. I guessed it had to be hard for him to do this.
“Well of course we’ll let you stay with us; it wouldn’t be a problem at all.” Esme spoke up.
“No trouble at all.” Carlisle stated smiling
“Thank you.”
I found it hard to believe that Carlisle and Esme would just allow a stranger into their home like that, but they do know best I suppose. All I hoped was Ruthven was smart enough to make up a name instead of saying his name was Ruthven because that isn’t a very good name for the past two centuries. Luckily, as I exited my bedroom to go speak to him, he was walking by my door. “Ruthven, could I talk to you?” I asked
“Sure Bella.” He smiled a warm grin; he played the role of an innocent child very well. “What do you need?”
“Well it’s about your school. Did you say your name was Ruthven when you went there for your first day?” I asked worriedly
“Of course not, I told them my name was Nino Cullen.” He said grinning again. He was really good at playing a child.
“Ok good, I was just worried.” I sighed
“No worries.” He smiled walking back to his room.
