A/N: So. This is really random, but I need a mental break from my 10 page history paper. Which I will never finish at this rate, but…whatever. 

“I cannot believe you!”

Elle glared at Emmett, her hands on her hips.

“You’re angry because I don’t want to go to a long, boring and unimportant social event?”

“It’s not boring or unimportant! This is the Delta Nu New Year’s Eve Ball. It is the most anticipated social event of the year.”

“Excuse me for not being overly excited about greeting a million strangers that have no interest in actually talking to me and dressing up in an outfit that makes me look like a Penguin.”

Elle huffed, “You are so infuriating. I can’t believe that you won’t take one night to do something that’s important to me.”

“Elle, I have to write my final this weekend. Plus, I’m not exactly the kind of person you’d want to show off at these kind of things.”

Elle’s eyes widened. “What?!”

“You know what I mean. All of these sorority girls are expecting you to bring home a Warner-clone, complete with a suit and tie and a convertible. I can’t be the Ken to your Barbie, Elle.”

“God, Emmett, you think this is about showing you off? Even if it was, I would never be ashamed of you. You’re my boyfriend, and if they don’t like it, they can deal. And the Ken to my Barbie? Do you really think I’m that shallow? I’m not the same person I was when I came here, and I can’t believe that you of all people can’t see that.”

“Elle-

“Save it.”

With that, she stormed out on him, slamming the door behind her. Emmett sighed, running a hand through his hair. He’d made a huge mistake.

A second later, the door opened, and Elle made her way back in, immediately placing herself into Emmett’s arms.

“I’m sorry.” He stated, simply.

“Me, too.” She mumbled into his shirt, wrapping her arms around him.

“If you were going to come back, then why did you leave in the first place?”

“You were being a butthead; I get to slam the door in your face.”

“Fair enough.”

They stayed in the embrace, both knowing that they could never stay mad for long.

“And FYI, you don’t look like a penguin. You look hot in a suit.”

“Good to know.”

“I love you.”

“Love you too.”
